This diabolical “Prince Charming” rides an awful dark horse. From Laney Smith, author of “Lock Time Capsule Series,” comes this psychological thriller, based on actual Sullivan is irresistible. He is a ladies’ man and he knows how to get what he wants. Occasionally, this involves murder. The police know what he’s done. Proving it is another story. Could Michael be your friendly neighbor? Laney Smith, the mother of two sons, is an American author who was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and raised in Texas. In her teen years, she and her family (including two younger brothers) moved to Colorado. Laney has also lived in Mississippi and currently resides in Southern California. Since a writing career seemed to persistently tug on her shirt tails, Laney eventually decided to try her hand at the art, writing news articles for a local newspaper. After numerous front page features, a new passion was born and the storyteller decided to try her hand at fiction. Her debut work, Lock Creek: One Year’s Time is still one of her most popular, frequently read works, proving that she managed to escape the “first is the worst” curse. In fact, Smith’s Lock Creek series won a “books-to-screen” contest and is currently being adapted for a television series, with other potential “books-to-screen” projects looming on the horizon. At the time of this publication, Laney currently has eight novels to her credit, as well as short stories in two anthology projects (no longer in print). She also released one novel under another pen name. Looking back, Smith’s only regret is that she did not start writing, sooner. When she is not submerging herself in her fictitious worlds, conjuring up riveting stories, Laney enjoys spending time with her family. Whether she is in the mountains, hanging out at tide pools, watching a sporting event, or enjoying some form of art, the writer’s mind is always dreaming up the next page-turning tale. Having accomplished so much in such a short time (Lock Creek: One Year’s Time, her first work, was published July 2014), Laney Smith has found her passion and her calling. The author, with her feet firmly planted, guarantees her readers that she is here to stay.

Awesome twisted thriller. This story is the first I read by Laney and I will definately be reading more. Great story about a very twisted psychopath willing to go to any length to fulfill his desires without regard to possible consequences..The book hooked me from the start and wanting to know how much this twisted character could get away with before getting caught.
What He’s Done is a novel based loosely on actual events and is not for the faint of heart. However, that being said, those faint of heart should read it. This gripping tale of Michael Sullivan, nicknamed Sully, is not to be taken lightly. It’s about a serial killer, a very charming and handsome one. He’s everything you want him to be but look out for his bite. Women beware - if you are lonely, insecure, naive, or even adventurous, and unaware of boundaries, he’s still out there looking for his next victim. Get ready for a roller coaster ride filled with heightened emotions. What He’s Done, is a page-turner and psychological thriller written by Laney Smith. The author follows Sully’s life from a young, twisted boy that grows up and becomes a high school dropout and flourishes as an adult psychopath. He has a way of navigating through life using his charm and his charisma to find odd jobs as he moves around the United States. If you have children coming-of-age, or you’re a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or guardian, this is a must read. I do not often read books written through the eyes of the criminal, rather, I read the victims’ stories and how they survived their ordeals. It was interesting to read how the author handled the victims’ and their stories and cleverly presented their side, too. It was high time I read a novel through the eyes of the perpetrator. How they think is foreign to me and I realized, even as an adult, just how naïve I can be. It is a tale that had to be told, and I am happy the author had the courage to do so. In fact, I admire Laney for her determination and the sacrifice she made to write about Sully. You see, Sully is still lurking, luring, tempting, and manipulating women to perform his sexual desires, supply drugs, or engage in whatever his narcissistic wishes command. Word of warning: today, he is online on social media such as Facebook and online dating sites. Just think of the implication of this especially if you are entering the world of online dating. Laney Smith is exemplary in her storytelling, and her writing style in What He’s Done. In fact, while reading this book, I thought back to the Stephen King novels I read while growing up. They are similar in style and both authors intentions are to make you feel the uncomfortable situations that we all try to avoid thinking about, or concern ourselves with, or at best, hold at an arm’s length. This story needs to be a conversation in our homes. Laney presents Sully in such a vivid manner through his thoughts and actions that it provoked emotions within me from anger, to frustration, to horror, to anxiousness, to wide-eyed disbelief. At times, Sully seems to redeem himself and act as a good guy. At various times in his life, he attempted to stay in the light...to be the good guy he wished he could be but his demons just wouldn’t/won't let go.
Author Laney Smith spins out over 400 pages of terror in What He's Done. This totally absorbing intense thriller takes a disturbing look into the mind of a psychopath, making for a fascinating read as Smith blends fact into a riveting work of crime fiction.
Michael Sullivan is an adept chameleon. He's a friend, neighbor, husband, hard worker and many, many other things. When his personal demons crawl to the surface, "Mikey" "Mike" "Sully" turns into an intimidating, threatening menace with a penchant for murder.
