Iron #2

Badly In Blood

Rate this book
The more Kory learns about her past and future destiny the more secrets she uncovers—and the darker it all seems.

After years of living with one foot in the seedy world of Bishop City simply trying to survive, seventeen year old Kory Colt is now training to become a demon hunter. She’s excelling fast even for a pureblooded ferrum. The recent tragic events have only made her more dangerous. And maybe a little unhinged.

Kory’s life has been irrevocably changed after an unexpected death and Rex seems to be the only person who can keep the darkness from swallowing her whole. But she knows he’s hiding something, something about the inexplicable bond between them that—despite outside forces trying to keep them apart—grows stronger every day.

That very connection is tested when a powerful demon sets his sights on Kory, his true intentions more sinister and calculated than anyone realizes. Will Kory be able to put her trust in Rex when her life and someone close to her is on the line? Will he believe in the impossible to save her?

Secrets never stay buried. And blood never lies.

Chompingly Wonderful

I definitely found this novel better than the first. The characters gain a more complex and greater sense of development with the supporting personalities displaying more depth.

The story gains a deeper plot level as the good versus evil theme strengthens. The romance has to go somewhere although sadly it's probably rather obvious. This novel still remains firmly in the YA/NA territory so if you're looking for a dose of hanky panky you won't find it.

I still don’t know

I’m vacillating between a 3 and a 4 star review. I just can’t EVEN with these 2 and their back and forth nonsense. It’s too annoying and frustrating.

Perhaps my issue is that this is YA. The MC is 17. I’m over it. The drama and the up and down emotions. The back and forth with Rex. Just everything.

I almost quit reading. And then realized I was at like 95% so I finished it. And there was a twist at the end that I basically guessed and saw coming. That didn’t do anything to or for me. And I just don’t think I care.

I think I’ll put the next book in my TBR pile and see if I ever pick it back up when Im in a reading slump. But otherwise, I’m moving onto something less aggravating to read.

Still average

This series is interesting enough to keep my attention but some parts are a bit juvenile. How many times can two people find themselves injured, in the bathroom, taking off their bloody clothes. It's just the same situation over and over again. Rex kisses her, oh wait I didn't mean to do that. Yet another scene replayed a million times. I'm hoping for more variety in the next book or I think I'm done with the series.

I've whipped through both this, just like the first book. It's a really great series. Something that stands out are the emotional swings on Kori's part. Normally these wear on me after a while, but in this series, they're perfectly fine, a testament to the author's skill. Ordered the third book immediately after finishing this one.

This series is absolutely addicting. I stayed up way too late reading this one, and picked it up again as soon as I woke up. I love Kory and Rex so much, as well as the rest of the Bishop team. This author is quickly becoming a favorite - time to read book 3!

In Book One of the Iron Series, Kory Kolt was thrust headlong into a bizarre, scary world when she discovered she is a ferrum - a badass demon hunter. She wondered how this would affect her life as a high school student (so did I), but when tragedy hit close to home, it almost killed her.

Now Kory must deal with the aftermath, burying herself in her training with Rex and the Ferrum Crew (that's not what they're called, but it sounds cool) while trying desperately to keep her feelings for Rex buried deep - especially since he's into his obnoxious girlfriend Bridget.

I love Kory. She's badass and yet still vulnerable. I enjoyed the training sessions, where Rex persuaded her to straighten up and fly right. And the scenes with the demon known as "blue eyes" were down right scary.

However, my one small problem with the story is the a large portion of it dealt exclusively for Kory's feelings for Rex. The "he loves me, he loves me not, I love him, I love him not" back and forth seemed repetitive at times, and I think it slowed the pace of the story down.

Other than that, though, the writing was great, and I will be moving right on to Book Three.

Continuation of my review of the first book in the series! Still loved the snarky Kory, her witty come backs, and of course her kick-ass, I'll punch you in the face attitude! The growing bond between her and Rex, the growing family members of her new Hunter family, and her high school BFF ... all wraps into another great story!

I can't say enough good things about this series! I am absolutely hooked - I read the entire book in one sitting! The author's writing is so vivid and detailed that it sucks you right into the story and won't let you go. I am so into the Kory and Rex student/teacher forbidden relationship that I have dreams about it lol. And thank you for the super intense sexual tension lingering in every moment these two are together, it is absolutely swoon-worthy. In this second book in the series, we find out a bit more about Kory's past and her extra special ferrum bloodline. There's still more to be learned I'm sure as the author left us on a bit of a cliffhanger regarding her parents and her connection to Rex.There's heartbreak and triumph, twists and turns and demons lurking everywhere. I absolutely cannot wait for the next one to come out! Do yourself a favor and stop reading reviews and start reading this series!

After reading Blood In Iron, I absolutely could not wait to get my hot little hands on the next book in the series, Badly In Blood. And I have to say…I LOVED it just as much as the first. So much in fact, I spent the last two nights sleep deprived because I didn’t want to put it down.

Book two picks up not long after the life-changing ending events of book one with Kory now having to deal with the new direction her life has taken, and nothing will be easy. Badly in Blood takes you on a whirlwind ride where we get a glimpse at the big bad, secrets to Kory’s past begin to reveal themselves leaving her unsure of who she can really trust, characters grow, relationships deepen—despite certain characters initial resistance. And let’s not forget the heartbreak, twists, and jaw drops that keep the reader—such as myself—wanting more. Overall this was an awesome read and I can’t wait for the next book to be released.

OMG PRETT I HAD TEARS RUNNNG DOWN MY CHEEK MOST OF THE BOOK

This book is even better than the first if that can be even possible. I absolutely love Kory and Red. Everything worked out like Mik predicted. Such an emotionally moving story. She goes through so much yet ends up stronger and with more questions but she is finally gaining some answers. I have a feeling the next book will be crazier and better. So look out world or more likely demons for you shall truly gain the taste of Koralines fury!!!!!

Couldn't wait to read the second book in this series and it certainly did not disappoint. Rex and Kory are becoming one of my favorite book couples, right up there with Dimitri & Rose.
