I found this book incredibly frustrating. Chloe is a spoiled brat, and hates Mandy for wanting her dog to not be neglected. How does that make sense?

Puppy in a Present is about a girl named Chloe, and her little brother has asthma, on top of that bronchitis, and on top of that he has pneumonia, and he's in the hospital. Chloe is worried, and when her little brother, Harvey is in the hospital, she gets to spend a couple of days in Mandy Hope's grandma's cottage. As an early Christmas present, Chloe gets a beautiful golden Cocker Spaniel named Indy. When Mandy is over at Chloe's house that day, she notices that Indy has a swollen belly and you can see her ribs. Mandy thinks that Indy is sick, but when she tells Chloe, she gets even more upset, but at first, Chloe doesn't believe Mandy. Can Mandy convince Chloe to take Indy to the Animal Ark?

I liked this book because I wish that I could get a puppy for Christmas, but just like Chloe's mom, my mom would get mad if the dog had an 'accident' in the house or on the couch. I wouldn't mind taking the dog out for walks, except when I'm sick. I felt bad for Harvey when his family found out that he had bronchitis, and then later, pneumonia. I had pneumonia last year in August, it wasn't really fun, but I didn't have to go to the hospital. I hoped that Mandy would be able to convince Chloe to go to the vet, and I enjoyed all of the parts of the book. I really liked it.

My favourite part was when Indy was being properly taken care of and was healing quickly. Chloe got a new puppy as an early Christmas present. Although the puppy was being taken care of right it was getting sick. It had worms and was not eating, exercising, drinking, or playing enough. That is how Mandy figured out that Indy was sick. The worst part was when Mandy figured out that Indy was sick. My favourite character was Mandy because she was the first one to notice that Indy was sick. There was no worst character.
