This is the first time I've read either of these authors. I can guarantee it won't be the last. It's a shorter story so the love is insta, but it's a good story. Boy sees girl, boy wants girl, boy gets girl.
There are a few outside forces that try to keep Kane and Emmy apart, but it takes more than that to stop true love.
Emmy is raising her brother on her own and has turned to the one thing guaranteed to make easy money: Stripping.
Kane Travis is a fighter. Born to a shitty father yet an amazing mother, Kane has pursued a career in professional fighting. He's excellent at what he does.
When Kane sees Emmy, he knows he has to have her. Enter alpha male tendencies and Emmy clearly can't resist. I mean, who can resist the gorgeous fighter who won't stop pursing her?
No one.
I enjoyed this and it's short length didn't hinder the story at all. There is still drama--some that hits close to home for many. There is still a love story.
And the narration is excellent. I had never listened to this narrator before, but he was the perfect Kane Travis. I also enjoyed his narration of Emmy. It wasn't overdone or ridiculous. He told the story well and I was able to distinguish between characters.
Kane Travis is a successful and popular UFC fighter. He doesn't pay much attention to the women throwing themselves at his feet, instead concentrating on winning the heavyweight championship title. When his brother takes him to a fancy strip club, Kane never dreamed of meeting the one. But from the moment he locked eyes with Emmy, he knew she was something special.
Emmy's parents died when she was only eighteen leaving her to raise her younger brother. She works as a stripper to pay their bills and put him through school. Working where she does, she hasn't met any men worthy of a relationship. Kane makes his attraction to Emmy clear and lets her know he's interested in seeing her, but she's scared he only wants one thing. When Kane's able to help with an emergency, Emmy realizes she's misjudged him. But she also knows opening up to Kane and giving him a chance could either be the best or worst mistake of her life.
I adored Kane. He's hot, protective, sweet and a really great guy. His childhood molded him into the man he is and he always treated Emmy with respect. Emmy is a strong and independent woman used to taking care of herself and her brother. It was hard for her to believe that she could trust Kane. Watching them fall in love was both sexy and sweet. Their brothers Ozzy and Trey were also good secondary characters.
Overall this was a nice, fairly quick read with an ending that made me smile.
The prologue was good and then it went downhill fast.
h is a stripper who has not even attempted to find alternative work, she gets molested by her sleazy boss, goes on stage and 'performs' for the H who follows her backstage and promptly " shoves two of his fingers inside me"
I was given a copy of this book from the authors for an honest review.
Initially I beta read this book for Alexis Noelle then they changed the story completely from the beta and I scrapped my whole beta review for this advanced copy one.
Minton and Noelle have created a great mix of funny and suspense. Be prepared for Kane-swoon. He's a MMA fighter and Emmy is a stripper. He won't take no for an answer and she won't say yes over her fear.
There were quite a few parts in the story I busted out laughing. You know the kind where you're silent then all of a sudden you're laughing out loud - really loud. People look at you funny...you just keep right on readin'. Then there's a few parts of the story you're on the edge of your seat wonder what's going to happen next.
This book is a quick story to read. It was for me anyway. It was easy to get sucked right into the story line and keep right on going to the end. I think you'll enjoy this particular book. I've not read many MMA romances but I'm telling you now. Kane is swoon worthy. He very well may be your next book boyfriend.
5 Stars.......Hot, Sexy, Total Alpha Male and Hot Beautiful Girl.....GREAT
OMG, I bought this today, devoured it all day and just finished! I am a huge fan of both Emily Minton and Alexis Noelle so when I saw this finally out, I knew I had to one-click. This book was everyting I had hoped for and so much more!!!!!
Kane and Emmy....oh lordy, did I ever want to be the cream in their oreo cookie sandwich. There was not one thing I disliked about them, the story, the characters, etc.... The storyline, the characters, everything was perfect for me in every way:)
I loved all of the secondary characters and I hope, please, please, can we get stories on Ozzy and Trey:) Heck, Nico too!
The storyline gripped me from the start and I never once put this book down once I started. I was hooked all the while sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next! The sex scenes were HOT, HOT, HOT and I loved every second of Kane and Emmy together. There was no doubt these two were made for each other, I could "feel" the love they felt for one another and it was beautiful:)
Wow, Congrats Emily Minton and Alexis Noelle on another grand slam from the two of you!!!!!!
I really liked it, At first I thought Emmy was acting like a bitch and I was not ready to continue but I feel like Kane brought out the good in her. Emmy lost her parents and she wasn't going to let her younger brother go into the system so she stepped up , did everything she can to put money on the table even stripping. UFC fighter Kane went with his brother Ozzy to the strip club but as soon as he sees Emmy dancing he knows she is his. I loved that Kane was there for her brother and just wanting to be with her even if she pushed him away he was always there. This two together were great, Kane was awesome and very protective because of his past. Wish it was longer I would love to see Ozzy get his book.
I did not mind that the heroine was a stripper. I thought this story would be interesting since she was stripping to put her brother through school, etc. I love those type of stories. What I did not like was that the heroine broke all her rules on the first night of meeting the hero.
The hero drove the heroine to the hospital to see her brother who got hurt at a fight. a He offers her brother a job. All is sweet. Kane drives Emmy home and bam...she has sex with him. At least they used a condom. I wanted more of a connection - a story - a chase before they had sex. It seemed so meaningless. That lost me. This may work for you, but it did not work for me.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I really liked this gritty, sexy story. There were a few things I could go without—especially the drama around heroine's former boss—but fortunately, they didn't spoil the story for me.

~ 5 Sunshine Stars ~
Ground & Pound is a Standalone MMA love story, written by Alexis Noelle and Emily Minton. I have been a huge fan of Alexis's for quite awhile now, but I am new to Emily Minton. I happy to say that I will for sure be checking out other books by Emily in the future.
What I love the most about a book that is co-authored is you get two writing styles, but what is amazing about that is when you get a book that is written seamlessly. When you take those two writing styles and create a story and you don't know who wrote which part. That just means that those authors should continue to write books together in the future.
Ground & Pound was a fast paced story that I thought was written extremely well. I thought the storyline was interesting enough to keep me hooked and the characters were well developed and likable. I will warn readers though that this book is a bit of an insta love story. The story takes place over a months time, so things between Kane and Emmy do move kind of quickly. This story also touches on some tough subjects that might be hard for the reader to read about. I thought it was all tactfully written.
In this book we meet Kane and Emmy. Emmy is a 23 year old girl who is raising her younger brother Trey after their parents are tragically killed. Struggling to cover the bills and pay her brother's tuition, Emmy has turned to stripping in a high end club. She doesn't like it at all, but knows she needs the money. This is how she meets Kane. Kane is an MMA fighter and co-owner to a gym, who is also taking care of his brother Ozzy. Kane sees Emmy at the strip club and is instantly drawn to her. From here we follow their journey towards a HEA.
I really loved both of these characters. Emmy was a strong independent woman, who was determined to make something of herself and her brother. Even though she lived through something horrific, I never felt sorry for her, because she came out stronger in the end. She still carried a lot of guilt over what happened to her parents, but I enjoyed watching her let go of that as the story went on. Kane was amazing. I couldn't help but love him. He was strong, possessive, and totally Alpha, but he also had a kind heart and fiercely loyal to those he loved. These two just worked well together and I loved that we never saw that misunderstanding, we usually see in books. These two worked together to overcome any obstacle. I also loved Trey and Ozzy. I am really hoping that we get a book for each of these brothers.
So if you are a fan of MMA themed stories, then I think this is a good one to pick up and read!!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, suspense, twists & turns, steamy naughty fun, and heartbreak.
This is Emmy and Kane’s story. Emmy will protect and care for her brother no matter what. With her working as a stripper she can just support them both. She will do everything she can so her brother stays in college. Kane is a fighter and knows what he wants. He wants Emmy. Now he has to convince her that she wants and needs him also. When he steps in to help out her brother she is now happy about it at first but soon learns it might just be what her brother needs. Emmy is determined to stand on her own and take care of her own stuff but Kane is having no of it. He wants to take care of her and have her as his. Can Kane convince Emmy he is the one for her? Or will he be in the fight of his life trying to convince her.
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. These two ladies write great books on their own. But together they wrote a seamless story and were able to pull you in from the first page. Looking forward to more from these two author’s not only together but separately also.
The book starts off with Kane's childhood, when him, his brother Ozzy and his mom used to get physically abused by their father. But they made it out and have had a great life since and he became an MMA fighter. On a night out at a strip club, he sees Emmy onstage and he wants her instantly. After her set, they almost have sex in the back room but she stops it before it gets too far. Emmy gets a phone call to go to the hospital for her brother Trey and Kane takes her. Later that night they do have sex but she pushes him away but he won't let her because she has gotten under his skin. They like each other and have great chemistry and the sex they have is amazing. But Emmy's sleazy boss Jason tries to make things difficult for her but Kane and Trey have her back. I didn't like the fact that after months of being together and him doing everything in his power to protect and take care of her, she thought he was taking pity on her. But he set her straight and they moved on from it. The end was nice and sweet.

4 Hot Pounding Stars!
I loved Kane’s alpha tendencies, but I also like that Emmy was sassy and only gave over control in the bedroom. There was angst, suspense, hope, despair and super, explosively hot sex. These two kept me reading and wanting to find out what happens next.
Good book! Insta-attraction. Emmy 'Sunshine' works as a stripper who is being harassed by her boss and Kane is an MMA fighter getting ready to fight for the World Title. I really like stories where the hero sees the heroine and falls for her instantly and becomes uber protective and possessive of her. I do like the fact that, even though her boss was an ass, he still let her work at the strip club because she wanted to keep being independent He didn't force her to quit her job until she was knocked around by her boss.
This is my first Emily Minton book and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Mediocre, predictable plot. Full if cliches and tropes. Didn't really have a problem with this. I like these types of books. My problem cane with the stupidity of Emmy. How she ignored the danger she was in. My final straw that brought this below 3 stars was the ending. What Kane did with his career to please Emmy. I wanted to punch her in the throat for making him do that because of her weakness. I didn't care after that point.
So I thought I was getting to read about a strong heroine. It started out that way and unfortunately for me she turned out to be one very selfish and very insecure girl. Who in their right mind would hold back their loved one from doing what they love when it's because of fear?! This h is something else.
Found this book while searching for books similar to stripped by jasinda wilder. Though there is a stripper and a famous person there is nothing much more similar to this.
Spoilers ahead:
Prologue is that of young kids kane and ozzy seeing their dad beat their mother to almost death and kane getting his arm broken while trying to save her.
Current story starts with Emmy getting ready to show up on stage for stripping. Kane and his brother ozzy are there to watch. And ozzy pretty much calls her a bitch and that he would be into that.
By the end of the dance kane wants her. He goes back stage where her boss jason is about to abuse her. He warns him. Then he proceeds to kiss her and then finger her right there. She pushes him off and leaves him. But her car isnt working and she gets a call that her brother trey is in the hospital coz if his illegal fighting. Kane takes her to the hospital and then gets her home. They make a detour to have dinner and he takes her to drive ins and in and out. She kind of just says he is cheap for not taking her to some place classy (sounded pretty much like a gold digger since then).
Then he takes her home and she just invites him up and let's him do her on her couch then again sends him away. He calls her the next day to take her to a dinner . And there is again some gold digger comment about him getting anything with the kind of place he takes her.then she is feeling guilty seeing the menu. One of his clingy fake gf comes and says some shit about his being a manwhore. He comes into the washroom asks her what's wrong. Then she fuck there. And have their "expensive" dinner.
Kane offers to coach trey in mma. She goes there to watch. More fucking there. Then jason one day asks her to work more but kane warns him off. Kane goes to New York. Emmy doesnt perform well so jason hits her. Trey sees the bruise. Kane comes back home early and sees the wound. Then tells her about his past and that her mom was also working at a strip club. Kane and trey agree that they will beat up jason secretly. She gets his students to bring boxes and takes her and trey move. Moving them into his house.
They go and beat him up. Kane is scheduled to fight nicole his coach and current title holder. She is in a panic coz of her past. Her parents died in a car robbery when she didng go to the grocery store. So she is angry when nicole comes home. But nicole says he wont hurt her. Kane offers her a job at the gym. She is about to go to the interview but Jason comes there and pins her to the car and runs his dick threatening her. So has a small tear on her Jeans. She goes to kane's interview. They fuck in the workout zone. Then in the interview he calls emmy upon the stage and says he loves her. The fight takes place. Kane wins. He says he will make her accept his proposal on the stage after the win. He lifts her and is taking her back when jason stabs him from the back. He is about to die . After 3 days he wakes up. Apparently trey almost beat jason to death. But trey doesn't get any punishment. Jason commits suicide after 3 days.
Epilogue Kane is getting married to emmy. We hear the wedding vows and stuff. He says that he wanted to get back to boxing but he saw emmy crying so he decided to give up boxing and just train.
This wasnt a bad book. Good grammar and all that. But it just wasnt it for me. I couldnt connect with their emotional pasts and though it was an insta love it seemed cheap. Emmy seemed for the most part a gold digger and kane just fucking her.
I hated at parts when kane was taking her for granted and she wasnt calling him out for that. Like she makes salad for him and takes it to the gym and he refuses to eat it. And doesnt follow her even though she is close to tears. And he orders her to cook dinner for him and nicole. Lasagna. I just couldn't see love there. Not yet .
Not gonna reread this shit. Though I loved those tiny previews of 2 other books that we dark.
Very entertaining, engaging and enjoyable. Keep your earbuds in for this one. The steamy romance is hot & heavy in this story.
A story about an MMA fighter and Stripper is nothing new or unusual and the story is predictable in many ways with a few unexpected twists to keep it interesting. It's a good solid story with really good narration. It is one of the more enjoyable shorter stories I have listened to in a while. Being a shorter story it moves at a pretty fast pace. It's well written and flowed smoothly with characters that were well developed.
Each have had their own rough patches in life. Kane and his brother suffered at the hands of and abusive father. Emmy is helping to raise her younger brother after their parents died. When they meet the attraction is immediate and sparks fly.
Logan McAllister does a really good job with the narration as usual. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. His voice is so deep and gravelly just how you want your bad boy to sound. Of coarse his male character voices are great. His female "in character" voices are really good as well, but when narrating the "thinking" female parts it's done in his regular voice which is a bit confusing at times. It's Emmy thinking but in Kane's voice. He was able to bring the characters, their emotions and story to life through his narration. Very enjoyable.
This would have been a great book with dual narration.
Repeated lines occasionally.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.
Would you listen to Ground & Pound again? Why? I've already listened to it twice. I listened to it more for the story than the narrators. The authors seem to know just what will grab my attention.
What other book might you compare Ground & Pound to and why? I haven't listened to another MMA Romance so there's no way to compare. That doesn't mean that I won't find one to listen to. Then maybe I could compare. But that's not something I'm comfortable with and I don't find it fair to the authors involved.
Have you listened to any of Logan McAllister’s other performances before? How does this one compare? I have not but I do have one in my Wish List. Mr. McAllister does a great job with the Kane character. I can picture just the type of man he is. He'll be glad to know that when I hear him speak I don't picture a female character.
Any additional comments? This book went by quickly. Having Mr. McAllister read to me made it very enjoyable. If you want something hot and steamy you will get that here. If you're looking for inspiration, watch an MMA fight live or on tv and then listen to this again. This was a great way to enjoy what Ms. Minton and Ms. Noelle have created. I'm happy to see they both have other audiobooks that I look forward to enjoying. If you don't have the time to sit down and read a book, why not pick up an audio version and let someone read to you instead.
This story is just so all over the place that it's hard to get into.
The beginning was good. I liked Kane's backstory, and I thought when we first met Emmy she was a strong, capable heroine. Unfortunately, she really changes as the story goes on, and I liked her less with every chapter.
Besides losing interest in Emmy, the big problem was that I really couldn't tell where this story was going. At first, there's a lot of focus on Kane chasing Emmy and trying to prove they should be in a relationship, and then there's weird stuff with Emmy's boss somehow being able to get her brother, Trey, beat up in his underground fighting matches (I still don't understand WTF was going on with that), and then Kane wants Emmy to quit being a stripper but she doesn't want a hand out...even though she's getting beat up by her boss, and then we move on to Emmy having issues with people dying on her and she gets really scared about Kane getting killed in an MMA fight for some reason, and then her crazy boss threatens to take her when Kane's done with her, but then he ends up attacking Kane? And finally we end with Kane giving up his career because Emmy is too scared of him fighting.
I mean, this is just.....everything but the kitchen sink really. There needed to be one main focus. Both the MCs having these super tragic backstories was a bit much, too. It ended up just feeling like too much, so every part was not enough. Overall, meh.
Ground & Pound is the story of an MMA fighter named Kane and Emmy, a stripper. Both of them are working hard toward their goals and don't want distractions. When Kane meets Emmy he has to have her. They both relinquish the control that they have so carefully guarded and must fight for their love.
Even though this is a romance, the first part of the book outlines the domestic abuse that Kane's family suffered at the hands of his father. It was a difficult section to listen to but it was essential to the character development of Kane. Emmy's background was also sad, losing her parents and now supporting her younger brother. Stripping was only a means to an end - putting her brother through college.
I loved Kane and Emmy's story and their HEA. As usual, Logan McAllister's narration was terrific. I would recommend Ground & Pound.

Great Story - Less than Par Narrating. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom. I really wanted to enjoy this audiobook. The story is very interesting and the narrator has a pleasant voice to listen to, but he performs with too much monotone. He doesn't put too much inflection in his voice which gets very annoying. Luckily the story and writing kept me interested that I tried very hard not to let the narrators performance keep me to finishing the audiobook. I would love to see this audiobook re-recorded using a different voice performer like Aiden Snow, Jeffrey Kafer, Joe Arden or Luke Daniels. It's still worth a listen, but be prepared not to expect excellent narrating performance.
I had high hopes for this after reading the blurb but unfortunately it fell flat for me. It was predictable and didn't hold my interest. I kept going to the end waiting for it to pick up but it never did. Also the whole thing of Emmy being 5'5" but having legs for days.... *eye roll*
There was very little differentiation between the narration of Kane and Emmy's POV and at times was confusing- no change of voice for Emmy's chapters just read straight, especially her inner monologues.

4"First meant so sexy" Stars. Great short hot little read.... :) ( My breath quickens , and I trace my tongue over my lips, enjoying the low rumbles from his chest. " Oh, yeah? That's the same thing every other man wants. They all talk a big talk Show me you`re different. Let me see what else those hands can do, other than fight." My cocky words are barely past my lips before his mouth slams against mine and his tongue delves inside. The taste of him explodes in my mouth, drawing a muffled moan from my lips.) Yeah Baby the first time these two see each other is so sexy & Hot!!! Loved it!
I love this story, it has a lot of give and take, and a strong woman. "M" handles the men in her life well, and I love the romance. I got the audio version and its amazing. I would give this book a try if you like strong if not a little bit dominant males that are nothing like Fifty shades lol. This is a sweet love story with notes of charm, and hope. totally worth a 2nd and 3rd read. I was given this free copy, in return for my unbiased review
What a read! These characters meshed so well together. These authors put together a great story that keep me turning through the pages as fast as I could to see what was going to happen! So much angst and steamy moments. I'm so glad I got to read such a great collaboration!
Nah. Just a whole lot of gag at how the hero thinks about women in general and the "sexy talk" to the heroine specifically. Whole lotta nope and a big fat dnf
