After being dropped off at her apartment, Steele found herself being questioned by her roommate, Gwen. After much prodding, she gave in and told Gwen a bit about her contract with Arsen and Gwen couldn’t believe what Steele was getting herself into.

Arsen met the new detective assigned to his case and found she was a tall drink of water who found him fascinating. She was flirtatious, and he smelled a set up by the police department. When she let him know she wanted to find the real killer he toyed with the idea of telling her about Allen White.

Gwen confided in Steele about a man she had just started seeing. She met him in the parking lot of their apartment as he was backing out of a parking spot and nearly hit her with his car. Just as she’s about to tell Steele the man’s name, Arsen calls her and tells her he’s outside and she leaves the conversation hastily without getting the man’s name.

Arsen and Steele were shocked as they pulled away and saw Allen White pull in and they waited long enough to see him use a key and go right into the apartment Steele and Gwen share. Arsen decided they needed to go back because her friend was in great danger.

Allen was ecstatic to meet his old lawyer again and made it known he was a changed man. Gwen wasn’t happy with the fact he’d kept his past from her nor was she happy with how Steele was acting around Arsen.

But will Gwen’s relationship with Allen lead to the end of Arsen and Steele for good?

The hunt for the killer who is framing Arsen continues and the relationship between him and Steele continues to change and grow. In this part of the story, they learn that Gwen is getting pulled into the plot. Steele continues to want to learn more about Arsen's BDSM lifestyle and he is concerned she is not ready for that kind of lifestyle.

I have enjoyed the story as it continues and I have gotten to understand Arsen a little more. At first, he seemed more of a caricature than a real person. He didn't seem to really connect to people but his relationship with Steele has altered that behavior. Steele is a strong woman who wants to explore but not really built for pain. It is interesting seeing them try to make adjustments and compromises.

Steele decides to open up to her roommate, Gwen, about her relationship with Arsen. Gwen tells Steele about her new guy she met when he was in their apartment parking lot. Arsen is meeting with a new detective on the case of the murders they believe him guilty of. This detective is gorgeous and willing to get information from Arsen in any way.

The story is picking up with both the accusations against Arsen and the involvement of his former client, Allen White.

ARC Review

Book six has really kicked it up a notch. The police seem to be playing games with their investigation, while Arsen and Steele get more clues on the real culprit. This episode was so suspenseful, I cannot wait for part seven.

The action is starting to pick up and you finally see where the series is going. The two main characters have acknowledged their feelings and it leaves you with a cliffhanger.
