Terry Spear is back and her wolves are hot, alpha and very, very rich. Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing is the foundation for another fast-reading series filled with betrayal, evil machinations and suspense, all while two shifters embrace the attraction they feel, but one must betray the other to save her child’s life, unless Rafe can gain jade’s trust as well as her heart.
Rafe is a successful business mogul, tough, brilliant and savvy to the world around him. Jade is a mother desperate to keep both herself and her child safe, but at what cost? Get ready for sizzling chemistry , magnetic attraction and adorable little Toby who will steal your heart and change the entire flavor of this shifter tale.

Once again, Terry Spear nails another hot romance filled with tension, intrigue and that closeness that shifters feel among each other. No doubt, there is a villain and his plans are definitely vile, with Jade as his pawn. Can love triumph?

Do you like believable characters that feel real? Emotions that blister the pages? Get ready for a trip into Terry Spear’s world and feel right at home!

Initial Thoughts: A fun, light, perfect summer read. I devoured this book. Couldn't stop reading it. Yup, the title is hokey. Yup, you've seen the trope before. BUT - I am a big fan of Ms. Spear's wolves and I enjoy her storytelling skills.

My Review:

I'm sure that many of you paranormal romance readers have dreamed of being swept away by a billionaire (he he - what are the chances?). Terry Spear's new book Billionaire in Wolf's Clothing has our lead character Jade being swept away by billionaire wolf Rafe. So be warned - if you don't like the trope, this book isn't for you.

This book is a perfect summer read by the pool kind of book. It's light, fluffy, and there's a lovely little happily ever after. I enjoyed the progression of the romance and I adored Rafe. I also loved the supporting cast of characters that surrounded Rafe. And Toby - what a cutie.

I also have to give the book cover an A+. Nice job on that. I've said it before - Terry Spear writes great wolf stories - humorous, sexy, and fun.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for a review copy of this book.

Review courtesy of All Things Urban Fantasy:

This book was almost entertaining, but between the blatant use of romance tropes and the saccharine quality of the plot with made my stomach turn, I was annoyed with it by the time I put it down. If this was the first paranormal romance book I’d ever read, I would have never picked up another.

Werewolves not necessary to this story, and it would have probably been an okay suspense romance without it - in fact, it probably would have been better for me. The key mythology issue was so badly introduced that I didn’t really understand any of the characters’ motivations for the first half of the book. The mating and shifting rules were also odd. It felt to me like the author was trying to be original, but original doesn’t always mean it makes any sense.

There were so many tropes that you could see coming that it made reading predictable and really hurt the experience. Introduction of 4 other charming bachelor werewolf millionaires? I get it, it’s a series, they’ll all fall in love in the next books. They all love the little boy instantly? I get it, kids are adorable. Does he cause trouble that could seriously injure everyone he lives with and get himself killed? Oh, he thought he was helping, how cute, let’s not shout at him.

The author tries to convince us that Rafe is a normal guy despite all his money, but the second half of the book is devoted to Rafe buying all sorts of super expensive things for Jade and her son, He takes them to Disneyland and to zoos while there is active threat on the child’s life. It was honestly distracting after the third or fourth shopping trip; oh, is Jade is arguing that she doesn’t need it but he buys two of them again? Of course. Is she going to decide that he was right, it’s gorgeous and she should keep it? Of course.

They set up her son’s room with a crazy bunk bed, and buy him all the toys he wants, in a way that would create a spoiled terror. The other guys, all bachelors who overnight became the most awesome babysitting uncles ever, kept plying him with promises of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoons and ice cream to keep him busy while his mom went and got busy.

Writing children’s dialogue that is believable isn’t easy, and writing a toddler must be even harder. The really jarring and annoying about Jade’s son was that his voice wasn’t consistent. He sometimes sounded like a real three year old, but more of the time he just gave me the impression of a whiny six or seven year old.

BILLIONAIRE IN WOLF’S CLOTHING was basically a single mom werewolf fantasy: she finds a guy who loves her almost instantly, who marries her, who accepts and loves her son, and then he buys them all sorts of stuff and takes them on fancy trips. In the space of a couple weeks. Oh, and he’s a werewolf with hot werewolf friends. Only worth reading if you have a few hours to kill on the beach. It won’t be something you think about the next day.

This has got to be one of the most emotional, heartfelt werewolf novels I’ve ever read. The intense plot combined suspense, danger, and a whole lot of good old romance in a manner that was exquisitely real. Spear has created a wonderfully magical world for her characters to life in and presents it in such a manner that it’s easy to picture it happening right next door to you. The beautiful and at times awe inspiring descriptions brought everything to life in a big way for me.

I loved the characters in this novel and how tight a group they all were. Rafe and Jade were a fantastic couple. The way that they work together, and respect each other’s decisions was great. At the same time, the chemistry between them sizzled and the real romance was so heartfelt that I melted. Toby’s prominent role in the story really enriched the entire tale for me. He not only threw some kinks into everyone’s plans but gave an entirely new perspective on things. And the supporting cast? Those guys were fantastic as well. They’re the type of characters that you truly hope to see get their own stories in the future.

I absolutely loved this first instalment in Spear’s new werewolf series (along with the loose ties to her other stories as well). It is a must read for anyone who enjoys a good romance, alpha males, and a whole lot of fun.

While things were predictable from page one I didn't care because this was such a feel good book to read, so much of the time I found myself smiling while I was reading. I liked that Jade confessed things to Rafe and got him on her side. Working together they were able to come up with a plan to keep her and what was most precious to her safe.

For me Toby was the highlight of the book. I loved how he won over all those around him, how the big, macho wolves fell at his feet and they all catered to him. Even better was all the new things that they were teaching him.

I enjoyed this paranormal romance with a good plot, plenty of action and an entertaining little boy. I liked the relationship build and the main characters. While the hero was cautious he was also patient suspecting the heroine had reasons for her actions. Billionaire werewolf Rafe rescues she-wolf Jade from drowning outside his beach house.

•••••

REVIEW: 3.75 stars--BILLIONAIRE IN WOLF’S CLOTHING is the first installment in Terry Spear’s new, contemporary, adult BILLIONARIE WOLF paranormal romance series. This is billionaire real estate investor Rafe Denali, and lingerie/children’s clothing designer Jade Ashton’s story line.

Told from dual third person points of view (Rafe and Jade) BILLIONAIRE IN WOLF’S CLOTHING follows wolf shifter Jade Ashton, as she is ordered by her alpha, to gather information about billionaire Rafe Denali and his brother Dr. Aidan Denali. Pretending to be on vacation, Jade finds herself the victim of a near drowning, then rescued by the very wolf she has been ordered to contact. What ensues is the building relationship between Rafe and Jade, and Rafe’s suspicion that Jade is hiding more than she has revealed.

Rafe is immediately attracted to the she-wolf but suspects there is more to her story than a quiet vacation alone. While gaining her trust, Rafe must get Jade to confess her true story including the reasons behind her willingness to go along with her alpha’s orders. The $ex scenes are intimate and hot without the over the top graphic text and language. Rafe wants forever with Jade and Toby, and will do everything in his power to make it so. Herein I struggled because of Jade’s original deceit and intent. I thought our hero was too quick to forgive and forget but Jade had yet to implement any sort of plan-our heroine revealed the truth almost immediately fearing the threats against, and potential loss of her son.

We are introduced to Rafe’s brother Aidan; Rafe’s private investigator Edward; and his head of security Sebastian, and friend Hugh. Jade’s family is virtually non-existent but for a brother whose plans are to destroy the Denali brothers for a betrayal from the past. We meet B&B owner Fiona who becomes a close friend when Jade needs her the most; and we can’t forget about Jade’s three year old son Toby- a young boy who steals the heart of every man in Rafe’s employ. A couple of characters from Terry’s Heart of the Wolf series cross over adding familiarity, as well as the renewed search for longevity in the shifter world.

The world building focuses on family and friendship in the world of the wolf-shifter. Betrayal is meted out with swift justice, when threats against Jade and Toby become personal.

BILLIONAIRE IN WOLF’S CLOTHING is a familiar story of betrayal and revenge; family and friendship; falling in love and moving forward. The premise is entertaining; the characters are fun, colorful and charismatic; the romance is a quick build to a happily ever after-there is a little bit of insta-love to Jade and Rafe’s relationship. BILLIONAIRE IN WOLF’S CLOTHING is a welcome introduction to a new series.

Billionaire in Wolf's Clothing (Billionaire Wolf #1) by Terry Spear Terry Spear’s Billionaire in Wolf's Clothing is an amazing start to the Billionaire Wolf Series.  Rafe Denali rescues she-wolf Jade Ashton from almost drowning in front of his beach house.  His instincts tell him that Jade is not being completely upfront with him about her life, and he needs to gain her trust.  This contemporary PNR primarily takes place in California.  It is suitable for adult audiences.

Terry Spear does a great job with her character development.  I like Jade.  She has no one she can count on.  Her brother, Kenneth, and his pack are horrible.  She is a caring and loving mother who will do anything for her son.  I like that she has her own business and is self-reliant.  Rafe is perfect for Jade.  He is a powerful businessman.  He is an intelligent and protective. I like that despite being extremely wealthy; he is down to earth and dresses casually. Three-year-old Toby is sweet.  I love that he wants to protect his mom.  I also love how Rafe’s men begin to act like a pack as a result of Toby.

I loved Billionaire in Wolf's Clothing.  There was a lot going throughout the story that kept it interesting and full of surprises.  I appreciated that wolves from Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series were mention/made appearances in this novel.  I also liked that events from that series had relevance to this story, especially where Rafe’s twin brother, Aidan, is concerned.  Terry Spear is a fantastic writer of shapeshifter novels.  I look forward to her next book.

Genre: Contemporary paranormal romance
Pace: fast read
Characters: likable
Story: plot driven
Language: engaging
Tone: sensual; suspenseful
Frame: contemporary, Texas, California

Series: Billionaire wolf #1

In this first of the Billionaire Wolf series, Jade Ashton is forced by her brother (a true evil twin) to strike up a relationship with billionaire real estate tycoon Rafe Denali. Kenneth forces her by kidnapping her son and threatening to kill Toby unless Jade retrieves some information about Denali’s scientist brother. Jade is reluctant to deceive Rafe who has been nothing but kind to her. Rafe suspects that Jade has some hidden motives, but he likes her and doesn’t want to break off the relationship, the first that has intrigued him in some time.

There are some special considerations in trying to put something over on a wolf shifter; if you search his things, he can detect your scent. There is suspense – will Kenneth really hurt Toby? The 3-year-old is half human, so usual loyalties don’t apply. There is warmth and friendship among the wolves around Rafe; something Jade did not feel when she accepted the invitation to bring Toby to Kenneth’s pack. Kenneth is a gambler, and a poor one, with some deadlines of his own. Paranormal romantic suspense. What more could you want?

Readers who enjoy Terry Spear should also enjoy the paranormal romances of J. R. Ward, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Kresley Cole, Angela Knight, Gena Showalter, Lara Adrian, and Lora Leigh.

Ramblings:
I’m a fan of several publishers with talented writers, but there’s two who consistently release books I can’t turn down. Sourcebooks Casablanca is one of those two.

Summary:
Jade Ashton’s brother is in dire straits! Kenneth has a debt that’s being called in, and if he doesn’t deliver-his next howl will be his last. Jade’s predicament is no laughing matter. Kenneth is in a rage and now he’s blackmailing her. If she doesn’t do exactly what he asks, it’ll mean death for her only child.

Her assignment is to befriend and gather intel on billionaire wolf, Rafe Denali. With her son’s life hanging on the line, how hard can it be to keep up a pretense? Very! Because a relentless paparazzi is about to blow her cover to smithereens.

Review:
A Billionaire in Wolf’s Clothing is the 20th installment in the Heart of the Wolf series and the first in Ms. Spear’s Billionaire Wolf series. Great suspense, realistic pack dynamics, danger, and the desperation of a single mother trying to save her son’s life make for one wild read! I’m hoping the author will be releasing new installments indefinetely. Her works gather force without sputtering.

Searching for another billionaire wolf?
A Billionaire Wolf for Christmas is set to release October 2nd of 2018. The question now is, who’s the sexy billionaire?

You’ll like this story if:
You love paranormal romances with wolves, Harlequin Presents with billionaires, stories of single mothers, or suspenseful novels with duplicitous characters.

Disclosure:
I purchased the paperback during RWA’s 2017 “Readers for Life” Literacy event. I was fortunate enough to meet Ms. Spear, who’s both gracious and talented.

This Kindle Unlimited read was certainly an entertaining one. It followed Jade (a wolf shifter), whose brother captured her human son and forced her to go undercover to get information from billionaire Rafe Denali on his brother's research on wolves.

This is one of those books that was entertaining at the moment and kept me intrigued, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone as a great read. The "paranormal" part felt very contrived and there was a severe lack of worldbuilding around the urban fantasy world. It really felt like a contemporary romance, except they both had the capability of shifting into wolves. But it passed the time (which is all I ask of KU), and I enjoyed the romance, although everything happened pretty quickly - I wish the undercover bit would have lasted a bit longer! I love reading about a good ruse.

"Need a toy chest, Boss?" Edward asked, his arms full of packages of inflatable pool toys, including a smiling, colorful gecko float, an octopus ring toss, and a basketball hoop for kids.

I especially loved the fact the little three-year-old son Toby! Although his speaking skills were those of a kid about age six.

The best part was watching all these Alpha wolfmen fall to pieces around little Toby, practically buying out the toy store, demanding trips to Disneyland for the tyke, and getting defensive over the time it took them to build a tricycle. Ah to be a billionaire! It was an entertaining read that may have required a suspension of reality, but I may pick up more in the series when I was a fluffy read and not something that I need to really sink my teeth into.

Omg what a book! Mrs Spear has a wonderful abilty to grab you and hold you to the end. This one hot book. Not only is it engaging, but it is so well written that i resd stright through the night. And did not stop till finished in the we morning hours.
This story is about Rafe, Jade and Toby.
Well and Jade's brother Kenneth. He is one wolf you will truly hate and cheer when he gets a big bite taken out of him. He is the sole reason Jade is trying to get Raffe's attention. And what her brother dose to make her, made me so mad. To hold her sons life over her was tuly evil. But I have to say I loved Toby, he was so cute coppying what Rafe did. He was a true delight each time he and the big burly wolves got togather with him. I kind of wish there was a secound book with Toby. Maybe they will pop up in the next book of the series
Now before I ruin this for you I will leave off here. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. If you do like this book, please consider leaving a review. The Authors really like it when you do; they value your opinions too.

This book hit all the right buttons for me. It's got enough action, suspense and emotion to keep one reading into the wee hours to finish it. Cast includes a cute toddler in danger, hot hunky hero (being a billionaire doesn't hurt), heroine mother of cute toddler who turns out to be more than just a vulnerable pawn, and intriguing friends & associates of hunky hero, who will hopefully be the heroes in future books. I will of course snatch up any future books.
The only reason I did not rate it higher is because it was not truly standalone. No cliffhangers, but if someone had not read the earlier books in Terry Spear's wolf series, the reader might be confused about the longevity problem and the pregnancy issue in shifter-human intercourse.

This is only the second book I have read of Ms. Spear's wolves stories and I didn't feel lost. I'm sure if I had read the stories in order, I would have been familiar with the different wolf packs that were mentioned. The story had action, mystery, suspense, humor, and steamy romance. There were unexpected twists and the story moved along quickly. The main characters were likeable and a couple that you routed for from the first time they met. The secondary characters enriched the story and made it so entertaining. The heroine's son was so adorable! I really enjoyed this and I plan to read all the author's wolf stories!

Terry Spear is a beloved paranormal romance author and her newest series promises to be just as well received as her previous books. I find readers of this sub-genre are especially avid and often cross over into science fiction. I think the title of Billionaire in Wold's Clothing is the only negative as it does not convey the depth of the novel. Reader's might avoid the book and this would be a shame. It is humorous, sexy and fun. I believe paranormal readers will not be disappointed with Ms. Spear's latest.

I have really enjoyed Terry Spear’s other wolf series, and this one did not disappoint. I will certainly continue with this series and look forward to the next installment. Billionaire werewolf Rafe Denali never wants for anything. What Rafe wants, Rafe gets. This time, he may have gotten more than he bargained for. When a she wolf almost drowns outside of Rafe’s beach home, he knows that he must act fast. Taking Jade Ashton and her baby cub in could prove to be a fatal mistake as Jade is a pawn in an evil wolf’s plan. Jade has some tough decisions to make, and they all revolve around her gorgeous and wealthy rescuer. If Jade does not betray Rafe, her son will die, and her life is also on the path of destruction.

All of the characters, especially Rafe and Jade, were well flushed and likable. This was certainly a page turner, and I stayed up late, which I very seldom do anymore. The narrator was excellent. Normally, I prefer female narrators (not sure why), but Mr. Constant was right on the mark with this book. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars is due to the marketing that this is a stand-alone book. However, I found certain references in this installment to tie back to other books by the same author.

As expected Jade Ashton's twin brother's manipulative, heavy handed way plot to control aging has gone awry and puts her and her human cub's lives in danger. But he may have outsmarted himself this time... he forgot that no matter how much control he has and how well he's planned he needs others to make his plan work.

Forced into high-powered billionaire Rafe Denali's path, Jade knows she's a pawn in her brothers wacky scheme but she also knows if she doesn't do her brother's bidding she'll be forfeiting lives or at least putting them in grave danger, her own and her cub's lives included.

No one accounted for the passion Jade and Rafe would spark in each other or Rafe's tenacity when he found the she-wolf he'd waited many, many years to meet. Bullies don't like to be thwarted. Jade's brother is the bullying kind but he's definitely outsmarted himself this time and chose the wrong pawn and the wrong target for his plan to succeed.

This engaging read unravels smoothly and checks all the necessary bits, including likeable characters, an imposing villain, a distressed (but not helpless) damsel and a plot with a purpose though the romance seemed to take a backseat as the villains machinations surged to the forefront. Make no mistake, emotions weren't eliminated...it was multi-level love!

Real estate wolf billionaire, Rafe, knows she-wolf Jade, is up to no good after he rescues her from a rip current in front of his palatial beach mansion. He could smell the trouble she brings, its so strong.
Jade is forced to implant herself into Rafe's life to learn about his twin brother, after her twin brother took her son as hostage. The only way to get back her son is to play along with her brother's evil scheming. But the sparks ✨ flying between she and rafe is undeniable and for the first time in forever, rafe wants to mate with her.

I really enjoyed this story. I do not often read paranormal but when I do, I love a good story. Rafe is a strong alpha and I love his character. The fact that he loves jade and her son like his own is commendable. Its not easy to take on a ready made family but he made it work.
Jade is a protective mama wolf. Her son means the world to her. The sex is off the charts between rafe and her. And I totally love the secondary characters- Aidan, Edward, Sebastián and Derek. I really wana read their stories.

Ms. Spear writing ✍ is unique and flawless and everything blends beautifully to create one helluva story. The descriptions, minute details, knowledge, all combined together makes for a great PN read.

Not sure about this one. Paranormal romance. All the pieces were there but nothing stood out. All kinds of fruity chewing gum for the mind.
Lots of big tough men, one woman in need of all kinds of help and protection. The gym scene closer to the end of the story where everyone is sparring or working a bag (even the toddler) and she comes in and gets a stationary bicycle capped my disappointment for this one.
At one point the female main character came clean about all the lies she had told and I thought the relationship was going to hinge on honest communication but then the two main characters spent several pages making up lies to tell everyone. It just bugged me that the author went that direction.
The kid was cute and the shopping was obligatory but both somehow upstaged the connection building of the two main characters until it did feel like the female mc was just looking for a rich baby daddy.
The motivation for the villain -who is supposed to be all about family and pack- to destroy his sister's life just seemed confusing.
The ending was just 'meh' for me.
Violence, sex, mild language.

I love Terry Spear’s wolf stories, especially with the continuing danger of their lifespans becoming shortened. That particular threat took a more forward role in this book, but not as an aging hazard but as a menace to the heroine and her son.
Jade is trying to make ends meet for herself and her three-year-old son Toby. She designs lingerie fashions and has added a children’s clothing line. Her vicious twin brother Kenneth is in financial trouble and decides the way out of it is to find the cure to the aging problem.
Rafe is a billionaire real estate developer. His twin brother Aiden has been researching the aging problem but isn’t yet near a solution. Kenneth threatens to kill Toby if Jade doesn’t somehow ensnare Rafe and his brother and deliver Aiden to Kenneth.
There are many twists and turns to the plot but it always comes back to the developing love between Rafe and Jade, and the danger Toby is in from his wicked Uncle Kenneth. This is a fun book to read and I could hardly put it down until the ending. Recommended as a great summer read.
