Bodyguard Series Necessary Risk (Book 1) Primal Instinct (Book 2) *Coming May 2016 Chain Reaction (Book 3) *Coming February 2017
Necessary Risk is the first book in Tara Wyatt's new Bodyguard's series. AND her debut novel. I am looking forward to more books from this author and this series. This book features a beautiful child star and the man that is willing to do anything to protect her.
As a former child star, Sierra Blake is used to being in the spotlight and attracting attention, wanted or otherwise. But as her work with Choices, a woman's health charity, grows, so does some unwanted attention that turns threatening. Someone is out to destroy the work of Choices and their spokesperson (Sierra). She meets Sean Owens after one particular heckler left her pretty shaken-up. When she returns home, she finds her house has been broken into and life-threatening messages left behind, Sierra seeks out Sean and his company to hire to protect her.
Security expert Sean Owens can't stop thinking about the beautiful Sierra after their chance encounter that afternoon. He is instantly attracted to her, but he also has a weird feeling that her "heckler" was more than a one-time thing. So, when he sees her the next day seeking help he jumps at the chance to be the one protecting her. But protecting Sierra comes at a cost. Sean has NEVER been tempted by a client before and all Sean can think about is kissing her senseless.
But as the danger escalates and lines between protector/protectee blur, will Sean be able to keep his head clear and protect the woman he has come to love?
I really liked Necessary Risk. It was a action-packed (while a TINSY bit predictable) romantic suspense book. I really enjoyed reading Sean struggle with himself over doing his job and falling for Sierra. Looking forward to future Bodyguard books.

Sierra Blake, former child star, is used to being in the spot light and attracting not-necessarily-wanted attention. But lately, that attention is getting a bit scary—now she’s feeling like her safety is at risk and it’s time to hire some protection. Some pretty damn hot and sexy protection…
Sean Owens has been providing personal security for his company’s clients for over ten years—and never has he ever been at risk of losing his heart to a client. Until he met Sierra. There’s a spark between them that can’t be denied. But Sean cannot risk Sierra’s safety by becoming too attached—because if he’s distracted by his attraction, things just might turn deadly.
What a hot and sexy read! I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon I spent with Sierra and Sean. Was it predictable? Yes. Were their in-between-the-sheets times smokin’ hot? Most definitely. I loved their characters—Sierra was so strong in her convictions. Sean really wants to do right by his client, his business and his heart, and doing what’s right was not an easy feat. I loved Sean’s interaction with the rest of his team too—loved their “brotherly” banter.
All in all, this was a great debut novel by Tara Wyatt and I’m already looking forward to Colt’s book! ~ Missy, 4 stars

Good debut…
Sierra Blake is a former child star but she survived, healthy and, for the most part, happy. She keeps links with her past life and, when back in the spotlight, not all the attention is welcome. After an unexpected meeting, she looks to Sean Owens, a security firm owner and bodyguard, to keep her safe. They are attracted to each other, both single and spending a lot more time together. Sounds like the perfect relationship—except for the danger surrounding them, of course…
Well, not so perfect, really. Sean is determined to keep things professional even though Sierra is obviously open to more. Their working relationship, plus the increasing danger, keep their feelings simmering along as they deal with each escalating threat.
The story offers some fun dialogue between the two main characters and some suspenseful moments even while I found things to lag a bit here and there. Feelings and plot circled around a few times that seemed to go over familiar territory. I liked Sierra, who was taking charge of her life and determined to make good. She is strong and independent so I struggled with how quickly she looked to Sean to validate her choices. Don’t get me wrong, I can see why he makes a great confidant, with his protective ways and compassionate manner. Perhaps it was a case of too much, too soon for me.
Overall, a solid read and I’m looking forward to where the author takes the series. ~ Diane, 3.5 stars
When I first heard about this book, I had a bit of a SQUEE moment. The blurb reminded me of The Bodyguard. I fell in love with overly protective men the first second I saw Kevin Costner on the screen in that movie. Talk about hot as hell!! I just KNEW that Necessary Risk would be amazing and I wasn't disappointed in the least.
The story of Sean and Sierra that Tara Wyatt created was nothing short of perfect. I loved how Sierra was so strong in the face of such terrifying events happening around her. A strong female heroine is an amazing thing to read, especially when she's also vulnerable and so much like a real person that she's easy to relate to. I instantly wished I was more like Sierra and that I had a best friend just like her. And then there's Sean. Dear, sweet, protective, powerful and sexy Sean. You can't help but fall in love with a man that makes you feel safe and protected. Sean was incredibly protective of Sienna yet he wasn't suffocating and instead of coming off as creepy (as it sometimes does in these romantic suspense novels), it was endearing and sigh-worthy. It was very easy to get caught up in the chemistry that was furiously swirling around these two and it made it difficult to put the book down. I guess that's why I read it in less than a day!
I enjoyed the plot line, there were quite a few things going on but the author wrote it in such a way that it wasn't confusing in the least and she kept the suspense and tension spiked up to a level where you are permanently sitting on the edge of your seat, just waiting for things to happen. Most of the time, I can figure out who the bad guy is while I'm reading but Tara Wyatt got me! I had no freaking clue and I was happily surprised to find out that all of my initial hunches were completely wrong and apparently, unfounded.
This is the first book in a new series and while it does not end in a cliffhanger, I'm hoping that any subsequent novels will briefly touch on Sean and Sienna's relationship because I don't think that I could ever tire of hearing about their relationship. I can't believe my luck in finding yet another amazing author that I'm going to have to book-stalk for the rest of my life. AND you know what I just found out?!? Necessary Risk is Tara Wyatt's very first book. Are you freaking kidding me? Unbelievable. She is a talented lady and I'm so excited to see how the rest of this series plays out.

I really loved this story and the chemistry between Sierra and Sean is immediate. Sierra is a child/teenage star who has really stepped back from the limelight and is only doing appearances for the cause she is helping with Choices. Choices is a clinic specializing in help for birth control, pregnancy and general questions and that is where Sierra went when she was young after she had a pregnancy scare. Sierra is at a question and answer session for her old tv show when the subject rolls around to her support of choices and right after she answers she is hit with a bloody diaper and someone called her a baby killer. She is upset and goes out the back door where she runs into Sean. Sean is there because he is checking up on one one of his security guys and he sees the blood and rushes to help her. When he finds out the story he is relieved but concerned so he gives her his business card hoping to see her again. When she gets home and someone has written stuff on her wall she decides to go to Sean's business to hire security and hopefully see him again because she felt the attraction too. Sean is excited to take her protection on and is going to handle this personally and Sierra is relieved. The diaper incident was not the end for Sierra and Sean will earn every penny but what about their attraction to each other? Will Sierra and Sean survive? This is gonna be a great series that I hope to read more of. Reviewed on behalf of Once upon an Alpha
It doesn't get better than a hot, protective and possessive hero, a smart and tough heroine in danger and some very sexy interludes to keep readers coming back for more. With the number of hunky security experts we've been introduced to in this book, I know I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
Former child star Sierra Blake has signed on to be a spokesperson for a women's health group but someone does not like it. When she's attacked in public, she does not think much of it but when her house gets vandalized on the same day as the attack, she realizes that this may be more than just a run of the mill attack by a fringe group and knows that the smart thing to do is to hire some personal security. Enter Sean Owens.
Sean finds himself very drawn to Sierra and also very protective of her but she's just become his client and she's off-limits, at least until his job is done. He knows that getting involved with her would compromise his objectivity and put her in harm's way, but getting his body on board is quite a struggle especially when she clearly feels the same way and isn't hiding her willingness to go there with him. Sean is determined to keep Sierra safe like he couldn't with a loved one in the past and with the unknown enemy upping the intensity of the attacks on her, they can't afford even the slightest distraction.
I knew I had to read this book when I saw the blurb and it was everything I was looking forward to. I loved the immediate connection between Sierra and Blake and was rooting for them from their first meeting. I loved the strength Sierra displayed in dealing with the increasingly intense threats to her and Sean's protectiveness. There were a few surprises but overall it was a very enjoyable and absorbing read. While the plot is straightforward, the story has enough suspense to keep a reader on edge, waiting for the next volley from the enemy.
For a debut, I think that Ms. Wyatt has done a great job and I'm looking forward to reading more from her.
Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
Virtus Security Director, Sean Owens, certainly didn't expect to run into former child star and teen crush Sierra Blake in a parking garage. Sean had come to check on an employee and Sierra was part of a television convention where she also talked about her work with a national women's center. Vividly vocal protestors of the center showed their displeasure by assaulting Sierra from the audience.
Rushing away in terror and shame, Sierra runs into the wall of Sean's protective arms. After calming down she goes back to the forum but remembers how Sean's arms felt. As if that weren't enough, Sierra arrives home and finds it's been vandalized. Again remembering how safe and protected, not to mention attracted she felt those few moments she was with Sean, Sierra decides he can keep her safe.
Sierra tamps the lust down and contacts Sean for his professional services. While Sierra isn't in lust alone, Sean understands he has to be extra vigilant about their personal and professional boundaries as long as Sierra is a client. Protecting and being protected pull Sierra and Sean closer and make it hard to act professionally when all they both want to let the romance shatter and meld them into one. The ramped up terror ignites their explosive feelings and erase the boundaries. Sean and his team have to decide if the attacks are against Sierra or Sierra's work with the center then neutralize the threat. The suspect pool ranges from a mean spirited ex-boyfriend or frienemy to anti-choice elements like rival organizations disrupting Sierra's life. It could even be someone they haven't thought of yet.
The mystery, villain and world building pieces were well done, as were the supporting characters. For this reader's taste Sean was well fleshed, there was difficulty accepting a 'thinner' Sierra. Also, the pacing was an issue for this reader, leaving room for real or imagined criticism of the development of the romantic piece. Overall, I liked but didn't love the outing but will see what book two holds. Rating:3.75stars
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love a good romantic suspense novel and if it has the bodyguard trope? I'm a goner! So, of course I couldn't wait to get my grabby hands on a copy of Necessary Risk.
Sierra is a former child star that's getting back into the spotlight in a different sort of way... By speaking out on behalf of Choices and what they do to help women. Unfortunately someone doesn't like the work that Sierra is doing and seems to be out to get her... Enter Sean.
Sean just happens to be in the right place at the right time and meets Sierra in her time of need. He feels an immediate protective pull towards her and promises to keep her safe. Having been in the security business for a while he knows that once Sierra becomes a client she is off-limits... But, of course we all know that he can only fight the inevitable for so long.
Unfortunately, for me, I had some issues with the romance in this one. Sean fights his feelings for Sierra for entirely too long, in my opinion. And Sierra... That girl just kept throwing herself at him left and right only to face rejection again and again. Once Sean finally stopped fighting it, the romance was pretty good but unfortunately by that point I found myself losing interest.
The suspense, while not exactly nail biting, did keep me intrigued. I had a couple of suspicions about who the baddie would end up being and I can't say I was surprised by who it turned out to be but I was surprised by a little twist that I didn't see coming.
Overall, Necessary Risk was a decent read with some aspects that I loved and some that I didn't but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing where Tara Wyatt takes this series next.

Tara Wyatt's debut novel delivers everything you could ever want from romantic suspense: a strong heroine, a capable and protective hero, and a plot that just won't quit. Sierra is the spokeswoman for a "Planned Parenthood" type organization, and she hires (super-mega-hot) bodyguard Sean Owens after receiving numerous threats on her life. One would think NECESSARY RISK would easily fall into a damsel-in-distress sort of narrative, but Wyatt refuses to make Sierra into a weakling. Sierra is brave, bold, and refuses to back down from a cause she truly believes in. Sean is an ideal alpha male, but beyond just following Sierra around and beating up baddies, we come to see him as intelligent, caring, and ambitious. As I said before, the plot is pacey and kept me turning the pages during a very long flight over the Pacific. The bodyguard trope is not usually my favorite, but I found Wyatt's take to be refreshing, feminist, romantic, and compelling. Oh, and did I mention to hot sex. Yo. Wyatt can write sex. Against the wall...over the couch...in the shower...okay, you just need to read it for yourself. I highly recommend it!
Former child star Sierra Blake is garnering a lot of attention for her advocacy of pro-choice facility Choices. When the attention starts getting negative and threatening, she turns to private security firm Virtus, specifically owner Sean Owens, for help.
Sean has never once broken his cardinal rule and gotten involved with a client, but Sierra makes him want to break all his rules and then some. He has to keep a level head. Everyday, the threat against Sierra gets worse, and they'll have to figure out who is behind this trouble if they want a chance to explore the chemistry between them.
I liked both Sean and Sierra. I thought Sierra was a very strong character in that she didn't back down when her life was being threatened. She didn't cower and try to hide away (essentially letting those who oppose her opinions win), but she also didn't go out of her way to flaunt her stance (therefore putting herself more in harms way than necessary). She just tried to go on with her life as much as possible. Despite what I feel were some questionable decisions made toward the end of the book, I really liked Sierra.
The danger to Sierra's life was nothing to scoff at either. I was surprised at the level to which it was taken, but for me, this just amp'd up the suspense factor of the story. As a reader you get privy to information earlier than the characters, and personally I would have liked to have figured things out with the characters as the story went along. I felt that, while readers learn things first, by the time the characters caught up with us, things felt too rushed. This is mainly towards the climax at the end of the book. The pacing was really good throughout the majority of the story, I just wish it would have followed through to the end, but it by no means ruins the story in any way.
I really loved the secondary characters. Of course this is going to be a series where each book will feature a different couple and it was nice getting the know the other potential main characters. I already have some favorites.
Overall, I'd say that Necessary Risk makes for a pretty good debut novel and for a very promising new series. I'm really happy that I was given an opportunity to review this book. I think this series and it's author Tara Wyatt is definitely one to keep an eye on.

I received an ARC of NECESSARY RISK from NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) in exchange for an honest review.
Wow. Where to begin? I LOVED this book. It’s sweet, hot, and suspenseful. Did I mention hot? It’s the story of Sierra, a former child star, whose life is threatened. She hires Sean (I did say, hot, right?) to protect her. The two soon fall for each other. But danger awaits Sierra every time she turns around, and Sean must face a tragic past in order to find the strength to protect Sierra and begin a new life with her.
Great writing, plenty of steamy scenes, and a romance to die for. NECESSARY RISK has it all.
I can’t wait for the next book in this series to come out. Thank you, Tara!
Great book. Sierra was a child star who now works with Choice is a nonprofit organization that helps women in situation such as wanting an abortion or wanted help at low cost. Since she is the face for Choice a lot of negative attention is attracted to her. When things start to go south she ask for a bodyguard a hot one especially like Sean. Sean is a bodyguard/ owner of the company, when he help her out he realizes that he is close to falling in love with her but she is a client. Will he break the rules or will he stick to business? Suspense plus stalker plus hot bodyguard equals great book.
For some reason a bunch of people lately were talking about this book, I kept seeing it pop up, made me a bit curious. Then will all the time I have lately being stuck at home I started to clean out/up things I brought back from a book con in NOLA last year and low and behold this book was there. I quickly set it out in my line of sight so that I would remember to check it out and today was that day.
I liked it, pretty standard bodyguard, I'm falling for you fare. I liked seeing both Sierra and Sean fight the attraction while there were threats all around them. When they finally did cross the line it made perfect sense and you were cheering for them. Things got a bit harry towards the end, not a big suprise who the bad guy was, I kinda wanted more, the why of being bad, but at least he was brought down and Sierra and Sean got their HEA.
This is my first book by this author so I didn't know what to expect going in. Sierra and Sean were intriguing characters to get to know. I especially liked Sean. I enjoyed seeing him with his team and the camaraderie that it brought to the page. My heart went out to him while he struggled to figure out how to do right by everyone. I didn't dislike Sierra, but I didn't really connect to her as much as I would have liked to. Which I think it was I didn't become invested in their romance. However, I did enjoyed their journey and the chemistry they shared,
Although I found the story a little predictable, NECESSARY RISK served its purpose as the first book in the series. The author did a great job of keeping me engaged, introducing the potential MCs for upcoming books and establishing this new BODYGUARD world she created.
Very well written, but I found it easy to put aside half way through and have just picked it up again after a couple of months. The characters and story just didn't interest me all that much. There are lots of steamy sex scenes, hunky bodyguards, a beautiful heroine (naturally) and some suspense. Parts were good, other sections I skimmed. I'll read more from this author.
No “I told you so’s” from you, Jessi! Review to come. ------------------------------ This is one of those cases where I picked up a book and after maybe a third, maybe a half, I was pretty sure that it wasn't for me. It's also one of those books where I stubbornly continued reading, even after I figured out that it wasn't for me. Which is entirely my own fault.
So. What didn't I really like? A few things, but it really boils down to two issues.
One: I didn't love the push/pull of the developing relationship. The heroine, an actress receiving disturbing "fan mail" and threats, hires the hero, the head of a prestigious security company, to take over her security and provide bodyguards. Naturally, since this is a romance novel, the heroine and the hero have a serious mutual attraction. Also naturally, since this is a romance novel, the hero refuses to compromise his professionalism or his ability to be clearheaded by starting a relationship with the heroine. Which he tells her pretty much right away when she tries to kiss him. That's all fine. Pretty standard. She's embarrassed and feels certain he's not into her, it keeps them apart for longer, and it increases the tension in the love story. The problem is that the hero is completely unable to keep it in his metaphorical pants. He knows she's into him. She showed that pretty definitively and he rejected her. Sure, he may be assuming that she knows he likes her too, but can't act on it when he's also working as her protection, but we all know what assuming does. So every time he pushes her up against a wall or frantically makes out with her, then pushes her away and says "we can't do this I'm your bodyguard!" I liked him that much less. He was playing around with the heroine, and should have either accepted his own decree that she was verboten as long as they had a professional relationship, or taken himself off the protection detail. This wishy-washy business just pissed me off.
Two: The heroine's doormatty behavior. Lest you think that I was only pissed off at the hero, let me count all the ways that the heroine also disappointed me at every turn. Let's take the aforementioned wishy-washy, on-again/off-again flirting. She makes a move and is rejected. Embarrassing, but nothing ventured nothing gained, right? I respected her for going for it, and she took her "no" like a grown-up. But every time the hero made one of his wishy-washy fuckboi moves on her, she swooned into his arms anew only to face swift and sudden rejection again. Every. Time. I'd even have been ok if this scene was re-enacted twice. I could buy that. But it kept happening over and over, and she never seemed to learn. It got old. Fast. Add to this the way they talked to each other in the middle of their makeouts, and I was beyond done. I'll simplify and just say that I don't enjoy when romance heroes (or heroines) go on and on about how they own the other person. How that person belongs to them. That's not romantic. That's concerning and gross. Top the whole thing off with the inevitable scene where the heroine ignores the very reasonable rules in place to protect her safety in order to solve the problem all by her lonesome, thereby putting herself, her protection detail, and the public at large in mortal danger, and I just couldn't believe that I hadn't put the book down when I had that first glimmer.
Let my story be a cautionary tale. There are too many books out there to waste your time with something that's not ringing your bells. Be free. Put the disappointing books down.
Sierra needs protection from a group of protesters who have opposed ideas from the charity that she supports as a spokesperson. Sean runs the best security agency in town and agrees to be her bodyguard till things settle down. As he strives to keep her safe, he realises that he's losing his heart.
The Romantic Suspense novel, Necessary Risk was an entertaining and sexy debut. As soon as I read it was part of a Bodyguard series, my mind travelled back to 1992 (the year my first daughter was born, so I remember it well) and the movie called "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston costarring. Costner was a retired Secret Service Agent, who decided to work as a bodyguard and Houston, a music star hired him to protect her from an unknown stalker. Necessary Risk had all the same romantic thriller aspects of that movie, only with a few more twists you didn't see coming. What an intriguing and fabulous read!
Sierra, the strong female protagonist had a small crack of vulnerability that scared her to her core. She needed help and protection that her family, or her company couldn't provide her with. Sean Owens, her sexy bodyguard wasn't afraid of anything, until he realized there was a real threat of losing Sierra, who he had this magnificent, magnetic attraction to. This was new for him and he just couldn't help himself, even though it was against his moral code of not getting involved with clients. But, the attraction was mutual. This is where the swooning comes in! The heat was radiating off the page of this novel. The story was full of suspense, danger, some car chases, bombs, guns, old lovers, family feuds and strange family dynamics. It also hit a hot newsworthy topic of Sierra representing a company, called Choices, that was helping women with the options and alternatives they have to make with birth control, pregnancy, adoption, abortion, etc. The public obviously takes side in this debate... as does the stalker. Everyone has an opinion and Sierra's stalker wanted his opinion known, plus he wanted his choice to be everyone's choice. Why? You'll need to read the book to find out.
I can't wait to read book #2, Primal Instinct being released in May 2016 and book #3, Chain Reaction coming in February 2017. Tara has me waiting impatiently.
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars (because I swoon at the first mention of the word 'bodyguard' (especially sexy bodyguards), I love tough guys with a sweet romantic side, I love suspense and unexpected twists, but mostly I love reading about guys who are willing to risk their life for the one they love, against what their family and friends have to say about it).
What a great beginning of a new series! OMG this is by far the best book I've read this year (I've read over 50)! If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would! It had me captivated from the first page and I just couldn't read it fast enough!! So hot and steamy you'll need to have a fan handy to cool yourself off!!
Sierra Blake was a childhood star and as an adult has no desire to be in the limelight as an actress. She did all the sex, drugs and drinking as a teen star and is now totally over that scene. She does still remain friends with her co-stars from her hit show Family Tree. Between jobs of being on Family Tree and when she started working on the show Sunset Cover is when she went spiraling out of control at 17. And unfortunately, her dad was dying of cancer. She had a pregnancy scare and that's when she went to a nonprofit organization called Choices. She was so impressed with them that now, as an adult, she works for them. However, that's when her life is turned upside down. Someone doesn't want Choices around and has chosen Sierra to mess with. And that's when the sexy, hot, alpha male Sean enters the picture.
Sean owns a security company with his dad. His mother was killed years ago and Sean totally blames himself and feels that his dad blames him as well. To say they don't have the best relationship is an understatement. He meets Sierra when she has an incident and he gives her his card. He never thought she'd show up at his office and want to hire him. It's going to take every ounce of strength he has not to go after her! He's so sexually attracted to her, but knows it would not be in either of their interested for him to act on those feelings!
There isn't enough words to describe how much I FLOVED this book!! The characters were amazing! The whole story will have you on the edge of your seat!! There's mystery, humor, twist and turns and lots of hot sex! I look forward to reading the next book in this series, she's amazing!!

This is the first book in the Bodyguard series. It was fast paced, it was funny, and it entertained me. All very important criteria that I need to have in my books, especially when I’m reading a romantic action, suspense book.
More then likely, the reader will figure out what’s going to happen at end, but don’t let that be a determent to reading the book. I like predictability, I like knowing what’s going to happen next, and I like this book. It was romantic, and it gave me the “feels”. Sean is the kind of man that every woman wants to have in her life. I’ll get into him in a minute. I just want to say that there were some truly romantic moments in this book that just made me sigh, and the action scenes made me grip my poor kindle. I think I still have some grooves in my fingers.
Sean’s character is tough and alpha male, yes, but he’s also sweet and sensitive and knows how to treat a lady. He’s not a wimp at all, he’s in touch with his feelings, and he has self introspection. He also is carrying around a lot of emotional pain, that makes me feel sorry for him. He’s a likable character and I found myself cheering him on.
Sierra has had pain in her life as well. She has self doubts, and has her vulnerable moments, but she’s made a good life for herself and is happy with who she is and her place in the world. I have to admit I was a tad annoyed with a decision that she made, but I understand why she made it and so I forgive her transgression.
I won’t say anything about what she did, only that the reader needs to find out for themselves what happens, so that I don’t ruin the book for anyone. I know that’s devious, but ruining the book would be even worse.
Read this book, seriously, at least look at it on Amazon and decide it it’s worth the read. It really is worth it though.
Sometimes you read a book that just blows you away...for multiple reasons. That's exactly how it was with Necessary Risk for me. I adored this one. Everything about it. From the sexy hero, to the mysterious plot, and the heroine who holds her own, but wasn't afraid to ask for help at the same time. This is one book I won't soon forget.
This is the story of Sierra, a girl who wants nothing more than to help with a cause that's near and dear to her heart, even when it puts her life in danger. Yet when things prove to be too much for her she contacts Sean, the hottie-mc-hottie she met after a chance encounter. Flash forward a bit and Sierra hires Sean and his crew to help protect her as she pushes through with her job that brings about danger at every turn. Yet the danger isn't the only thing causing the turmoil in Sierra's life. It's the very body guard who has vowed to protect her no matter the cost. And by protecting her, he not only means her life, but her heart too. And that means absolutely no intermingling with one another on a sexual level.
But, that's not exactly easy when you've got chemistry like Sierra and Sean do.
I won't tell you what happens, but I will say this is one story you don't want to miss.
With a fantastic, well rounded group of characters and absolutely amazing side characters, Necessary Risk is one debut you won't soon forget. Sexiness that heated every page it graced, a poetic prose that also kept a suspenseful undertone at the same time, Tara's got some mad writing skills that I admire from a writing and reading standpoint. I loved this book and no matter how many books I've read in between, I can't get it out of my head. So grab this book, read it, love on Sean like I did. You won't regret it. Trust me.
Necessary Risk isn't really a risk at all. Nothing about this book charming, new or even sets its self apart from all the other book in the suspense romance. This book wasn't really all that suspenseful. I really dislike Sierra because she threw herself at Sean only to rejected over and over again. He tells her its because its his job to protect her and can't protect her if they were together. There were moments of fun dialogue that kept me hoping it would pick up but it just never could deliver. This book is reminisce of the movie The Bodyguard so if you fell in love with that movie you will enjoy this book. I will try this author out again because I did like her writing style just not the story. ARC from Netgalley.
4.5 stars. I'm not generally a romance reader, so this one definitely had me blushing! This book was a fun, sexy, suspenseful romp that would make the perfect beach read. I LOVED the characters. Sierra was a strong, take-no-shit kind of lady and although Sean was a totally swoon-worthy hero, he did have some demons to deal with...I also appreciated the small details, like his apartment full of books! If I'm being perfectly honest, I felt like the parts with the bad guy could have been fit in a bit more seamlessly, but overall it was a great read. I'm already looking forward to the rest of the series :)
Tara Wyatt has written a great debut novel with richly crafted characters and strong tension. The suspense side of things was a little predictable but overall I enjoyed it,
Sierra is a very admirable woman who refuses to be scared away from what she believes in. She let things get out of hand when she was a teenager and Choices was there when she needed them. The scene where Sean and Sierra meet is so sweet as Sean helps calm down Sierra; this is one of his best traits. He’s great at taking care of Sierra and protecting her without smothering her or holding her back. They were a great couple together.
I really enjoyed this book. I started this book this afternoon and finished it just a few minutes ago. It really kept my interest. I kept trying to figure out who was behind all the awful things that kept happening to Sierra. Sierra was an incredible woman. She was put through the ringer and still kept being positive and upbeat. The chemistry between Sean and Sierra was so present you could almost feel it as a reader. I absolutely adored Taylor, Sierra's bff. She was hilarious. The other bodyguards were so sexy too. I hope we get to hear their stories in the next books. All in all a great debut story from this author.
I LOVED THIS BOOK. Hot hero, relatable heroine, and a fast-paced story that was compulsively readable. Wyatt's writing really drew me in, making the world and characters come alive. Did I mention the hero was hot? HOTTT. What's more, he and the heroine were hot together. I don't read a lot of romantic suspense, but if this book is any indication, I've been missing out. The tension (sexual and romantic), along with the looming threat to the heroine's life, all came together to make a sizzling debut. Next, please!
Necessary Risk is the first in a new series by “new to me” author Tara Wyatt. A former child star is attacked and needs a bodyguard. Sean Owens runs a security company and agrees to be her bodyguard despite the chemistry between them. Of course he eventually fails to keep his distance but that is fun too. Necessary Risk has a terrific set of characters and a fairly good mystery. The chemistry between Sierra and Sean is palpable and will keep you flipping pages to find out what happens next.
