This is the dangerous riddle that opposes the shepherd, Kelly, who has suffered from dark dreams for as long as he can remember. As an uneasy friendship forms between he and Raphim knight, Edmund Cade, the two begin to unravel both the threads of an ancient power sleeping in their land and a perilous power beginning to awaken within the boy himself. But evil follows in ruthless pursuit as a common shepherd boy now faces both the threat of enemies and the audience of kings. Could Cade be withholding a dark secret? Dreamer is a fantasy fiction novel that invites teens and adults into a dangerous realm rich with poetry, magic, and adventure. Join Kelly and Edmund on their quest to discover the truth behind a prophecy that has lain shrouded in the past for centuries. But if they fail, prevailing shadow may forever break and swallow the light to the ruin of all.
This book is breathtakingly beautiful! It is so wonderfully written that I will definitely be going back to visit it again and again! In this book, a young man named Tal Kellyn or "Kelly" lives a simple life in the care of an older shepherdess, Marta, until suddenly his entire world changes and he discovers his true destiny and that he contains great magic. This book is almost as if the worlds of Lord of the Rings had a baby with your favorite YA fantasy/adventure novels to create a rich story full of vivid journeys that were approachable yet all encompassing at the same time. M.J. Neal is a clever wordsmith and I can't wait to read her future works! If I could sum up this book in one word, it would be BRILLIANT!
This book came in my April 2017 Indie Book Connect box.
I got this book in my monthly Indie Book Connect box! I honestly feel like giving it 5*'s is just not enough. This book is about a heroic journey between Edmund Cade (Cade) and Tal Kellyn (Kelly). Kelly has no idea about the truth of his history and gets it in bits and pieces as he starts to discover that he has powers. This books is beautifully written with riddles and illustrations throughout. I usually stay away from illustrated books because I am not an anime type person but this book is gorgeous! Seriously - it's like a work of art! The plot was great and the characters were fantastic! I'm just miffed that the next book isn't available for me to immediately pick up because I'm not ready to leave this wonderful world behind! Should you add this to your TBR? More like you should have already read it!
***Indie Book Connect April 2017 Read*** If you like riddles, magical worlds, perilous journeys, and good vs. evil, this is going to be your new favorite book. Kelly is an adolescent boy who had no idea who he really is until his caretaker, Marta, passes away and a Raphim Knight, Edmund Cade, comes to take him away with his friends, a Wingot and a sassy minx named Scarlet. M.J. Neal creates a stunning world full of characters that you would never expect but come to adore. Everything felt so real that it was almost as if I could reach out and touch it. Despite this being a fantasy book, the story line was surprisingly believable. If you need me, I'll be picking up white stones in my backyard to see if I can get them to shine blue.
This was a beautifully written (and illustrated) box about the tale of Kelly, a young Raphim who is unaware of who he really is and his destiny to help those around him. The way his story line intertwined with that of Cade's, his protector, was truly masterful. This book was easy to read and completely drew us in. However, it was also one that we had to completely appreciate as fellow authors! Well done!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a clean read with fun characters and an interesting story. Safe for the whole family to read, and worth checking out. I would love to read more books by this author, and it seems this book was set up to become a series or a duology, but I have not been able to find the sequel anywhere.
