Maybe I’m dark, deadly and decadent. I fought my way out of hell. Now I fight for pleasure. I answer to no one, I trust no one. I need no one but my brothers. The O’Shea brothers are on a mission and not even Satan himself dares cross our path. But she did. Sauntering right into my life, switching that delectable behind that was just begging from for me to lay my hand across it. Hard. I want her. Begging and screaming my name and only my name—Shannon O’Shea. Hell itself will tremble if anyone gets in my way. There are four stories in the Irish Sugar series. The readerexperience will be enhanced by reading all four stories; however each of themare standalone novellas and can be enjoyed separately and can be read in anyorder. Enjoy! Kieran- Kassanna Dwight amzn.to/1XTf1jK Shannon - Shara Azod amzn.to/1XTf92M Conall - Reana Malori amzn.to/1XTfbYk Fionn - Marteeka Karland amzn.to/1XTfjqY
Shara is- well let's just say touched. Born a Marine brat, Shara is a Navy Veteran with a pathological love for men in uniform, chocolate, and heroes that are maybe a touch psychotic. With over seventy-five books in her backlog, Shara has no intention of slowing down any time soon. She's definitely not safe for work, or the kids, or- you know what? She's just not safe.
Shannon was ruthless, calculating and handsome alpha man and when Ebony, no, Sunshine, no real name LaShay Reid walks into his business offering herself as a whore of sorts he saw so much more. Shannon instantly was able to see that she wasn't what she portrayed herself as and he gave her another position, well several positions... hint-hint so much better while hiding out from the man who betrayed her brother Jesse and had shot dead.
Loyalty and truth is everything to Shannon so he had to find out more about his supposedly love interest! Everything falls into place and even LaShay had loyalty in the mist... Mickey and associate De'Andre! All the brothers( Kieran, Conall and Fionn) are there for both Shannon and LaShay when she finally tells Shannon her secret and the payback starts with a vengeance!
This was a quick read yet so, so sexy and hot!
5 smooookkkingggggggggggggllllyyyyyy hot stars *****
Let's start with the good. That cover. Lawd dee dee!!! Geezus! Yes! LOL Moving on, I LOVED Shannon and Shay. Shannon was sexy and hardcore, and Shay was the kind of strong, unflappable, ride or die chick that I love. No histrionics; just getting the job done. They were great together and the sex scenes were hot.
The downfall of this book is in the actual plot. The bones of the story make no sense. The problems start when the author tries to pontificate about prostitution. It felt like some research was done and she was writing from cliff notes. Not convincing at all, not to mention the flawed interpretation of sugar babies. Then we get to Shay. Shay is a school teacher, and owner, of her own school for the underprivileged. It is bankrolled by her gangster brother who is betrayed, and killed, by his #2 who wants him out the way to get to Shay (no spoilers here; this is in the first few pages). Right! This is where everything goes left.
Shay's brother's killer has the cops in his pocket so Shay can't get to her brother's/her emergency stash because they're tailing her. Ummm, what is the point of a stash if you can't get to it? Shouldn't it be in your house...in a safe...under a mattress...in the freezer.. something?? Even if there is a concern with keeping stuff on site, the fact that both Shay and her brother had no type of real contingency plan in case something happened to him, and a backup plan to that plan is just...no. He was the top dog. I could see her needing to get to passports but, chick, you didn't even have a bank account number??
Shay then decides she's going to cross into the Irish side of town and become a prostitute for the O'Shea brothers so she can hide out and save up some money to skip town. I'm sorry, what?? No, really, WHAT?? How do you go from being pretty much a school principal wearing designer clothes, to prostitution as your only viable option? We do get the sense that Shay knows the inner working of a crime family later on, but we needed more of a backstory as to WHY she would choose prostitution. The whole 'I had no problem with strangers using my body' did not cut it! It's like being a choir director in a church, having that close down, and then being like well I might as well go deal crack. I'm sorry, whattt??
So she interviews with Shannon O'Shea. Things go well. Shannon is into her. Great, great. I don't want to give away what happens. But what did/does annoy me in these types of books is when authors have supposedly hardcore heroes lose their damn sense because a woman threw some p their way. Like seriously. We all know women have been the downfall of many a great man, but can we at least make this somewhat realistic? Shay waltzes in off the street. Shannon is a man who grew up hard. He trusts no one but his brothers. Even Mickey, a guy he's known since he was a kid, isn't in the inner, inner circle but he has Shay all up in his accounts and the inner workings of his business in a couple weeks without having any clue who she is?? He didn't even know her real name! Sunshine, my a$$. Men who do stuff like that don't get to where Shannon is; they end up wearing orange jumpsuits. Be serious, please. This is the kind of mess that gives me high blood pressure. He knew she was hiding something but instead of sitting her down and getting it out of her, especially since he knows his father was trying to ruin him, not to mention she could be a plant from the Feds, he's just like sure go ahead, have free reign. I mean it's not even like she had a fake story that checked out. She just had NO STORY. Are you effing...never mind.
There were entirely too many plot holes for a story this short. The entire book is 60 pages, probably 55 in all actuality, so in 55 pages there should not be this many things that make no sense, and trust me I'm leaving some stuff out (My name is Sunshine because my p*ssy's so good, if you throw it up in the air it turns into sunshine *blink blink*......straight face smiley. Shannon should have escorted her to the door right there for being lame; I don't care if she was quoting a movie).
I loved the characters so much, I almost wanted to take them somewhere safe so they could get a do over. As this stands, 2.5 and I'll see if the other brothers fare better. It'll take a little while though.
2.5 Stars-- Call it a case of cover lust and bad boy lust (I really dig the mafia romances) but this book was...hotter than I expected to be. It's been awhile since I've read Shara Azod and I see she can still tell a tale.
I liked the main characters though they're not used to their full potential. It's a sad tale, Shannon and his brothers come from a dirty world full of crime and abuse. Their dad is a supreme Irish mob boss and they want to get revenge for their shitty upbringing.
The story starts with a heroine who is a secret vice president mafiosa but is a teacher in his day job. She can't access her secret stash of cash because there are eyes everywhere. So what does she choose to do? Become a prostitute in a whorehouse.
Because it's safe.
And this super smart badass can't get her hands on the cash.
She runs to Shannon's whorehouse and takes over after the interview. Shannon just knows there's something else about her so he lets her see the daily operations, access to EVERYTHING because he wants to fuck her even though he knows jack shit about her. And this carries on for WEEKS.
Does anyone else see the issue here? Why would a criminal who has been abused etc and doesn't trust anyone but his brothers, suddenly sees this paragon in emerald silk panties and knows her only by 'Sunshine' and gives her the keys to the castle?
If this story was longer and the plot given time to grow instead of thrown together and rushed, there could actually be a decent story somewhere in there.
My rating is rounded up because I read Conall. I thought it couldn't get any worse and Conall showed me it could.
This story...*sigh* is the middle of the road. I'm nervous about reading the other two brother's tale, so I'll chill for the moment.
For crime drama lovers, this is one to skip. It's too rushed, too telling and no showing to really enjoy anything.
Plus side? The sex was good. Shara's still got that. ;)
I feel like I've shown up to the movie theater and missed the previews and at least 20 minutes of the movie. I'm looking at the other movie goers wondering what I missed and what happened, because somehow, I've ended up in a book that was already in progress long before I started reading it!!!
Shay: so this chick was smart enough to launder her brother's dirty drug money, build and maintain a school with said dirty money, but not smart enough to hide her emergency money in a spot that's easily accessible??? Then when she decided to go on the run, she caught a train across town y'all!!!! Not another new state, not another part of the country, but down the street to a different neighborhood! I'm mad at her and her brother, because they've failed street smarts 101!
Then all of a sudden when she meets Shannon, she's extremely street wise and his down for whatever chick. She was so down that she made sure her dude had his bottled water and blunt (that she rolled up) waiting for him after he awakened from an all night sex fest!!! I'm sniggling! Meanwhile, I'm just saying for the goons from across town to find her any second!
Shannon: Poor lil fella was dealt a bad hand at birth because of who his father is. Too bad his father's plan to humiliate and turn his four sons against each other back fired, and instead they've built an unbreakable bond and empire to put their father out of business. Now, would a man with that background just trust a chick by looking at her because she has soft hands and a banging body??? Not under normal circumstances, but for some reason, that still has yet to be proven, he convinces himself that she can be trusted. He knows nothing about her, but trusts her implicitly! Really? Even with all of that, Shay and Shannon had undeniable chemistry! I think if the story was longer and more developed, they could've done lots of great things together that didn't seem so far-fetched!!!
I think I'll pass on the rest of the series! One book was enough.
This one seemed very familiar with the brothers and all hating the father not sure who wrote them but this reminded me of the other story. Not a bad read just short and I’m not sure what order the stories should be read but I’m guessing this is the first one. I didn’t read the epilogue because it seemed like it was going to ruin the other stories so I’ll read those then come back and read the epilogues.
Shannon is the second oldest of the O'Shea brothers, but not the most brutal. Shay is running after her brother, who ran businesses similar to Shannon's was set up by his second. The instant attraction between them set up a great story. I enjoyed how this series, merit ten by four different authors gas commonality in introduction and epilogue. Can't wait to read about the gleeful killer Fionn.
Irish Sugar is a highly entertaining series, with each 📚 penned by a different ✍️ & they were all 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐reads , filled with drama, Boston style mafia action, & passionate 💝This is Shannon & Shay's story& its lit🔥🔥🔥. Shannon runs the brothel side of the O'Shea business, so he does not blend in with elite society & politics like his brothers Kieran & Conall. He is crude , raw dangerous & lethal like his younger enforcer sibling Fionn. I'm happy he found his person in Shay as she brings him the love & tenderness he desperately needed. I 😍😍😍 this series💃
Again sorry forgot to do a review, but like I said I love reading a great story over & over again. 10/2024 second time reading it. A great women is always hard to find one that will be your ride or die and have your back no matter what and that’s what Shay & Shannon had. That’s what a lot of women should strive for a man or women that has your back doesn’t put you down or abuse you in any way, they protect you. Theses type of story make me emotional in a good way, love 💕 it.
I had initially written about the inconsistency of Shay wanting to remain under the radar yet immediately demonstrating she had expert knowledge and skills of martial arts and the criminal underworld within a day of meeting and sleeping with Shannon. Then I reminded myself that this is a short novella and a fast pace is needed, so I continued reading with glee.
This was a very enjoyable story about Shannon and Shay. It was intriguing and had action, and also a bit of fun. Loved the characters and all the action as well. I would definitely recommend reading their story I don't think you will regret it. Thanks Shara great job. 🙏👍💕
I was initially afraid to read this book because of the setting but after understanding what the brothers are doing I jumped right in. I enjoyed the banter between the brothers. I loved Mickey. I loved Shay's strength and confidence
This is the second book in the Irish Sugar series. Have not been disappointed. It always brings joy to my heart when a mean ruthless Alpha male crumbles and loses his heart to love. Great read.
Absolutely loved this one. Shannon was funny about his feelings for her. Wish it could have been more action, but it worked out. I will continue the series.
Okay maybe I lost it for a second but this book will do that to you. Shannon O'Shea was the second oldest of the O'Shea Brothers and just as special as his brothers.
He runs the brothels and has little tolerance for dummies and bull crap. He has only ever needed and trusted only them. That is until SHE walked into his club.
Shay was a businesswoman and did not suffer fools gladly. Her world was nearly destroyed with the murder of her brother and now she was running for her life. Shay ran into Shannon and that is where the party started. Buy this book and read their story. Trust me you will love it!!
Shara did a wonderful job telling Shay and Shannon's story.
This is one of my favourite authors she wrote one of the stories in this 4 book series. There are 4 brothers and each brother's story is written by a different author.
This is Shannon and Shay's story. It was short and intense. I loved that Shannon allowed Shay to help him with his business, she totally understood how the criminal underworld worked and was not afraid of how that world worked. Shannon trusted her instincts. He never let her out of his sight not even for a second because he knew she was running from something and he did not want her running from him.
I agree with everyone else I wished it could have been longer but I totally enjoyed the read.
I hope that there are going be more to come with this series. Each brother is loyal, loving because when they fall they fall hard and forever. These books are must reads for each author who wrote a book for this series. Each author needs to add more to the series. Love this book. I actually love all the books in this series. Shannon is just wow!!! Sexy, loving, loyal, and fierce.
Good story, nice quick read on a lazy Sunday night, Shay and Shannon were hot an heavy from the start and their romance was sweet,my only real complaint is how they met,how was Shay going to go from director of a school to hooker,it seemed like over night! I get this was a short read, but that was a little strange for me,but in no way took away from the story. Good read.
Great series all of the brothers didn't understand the why or how the feelings of love was in them but they knew they couldn't live without it and didn't want to live without it I just know that I need more
