Is He a Beast or an Angel?
Gabriel Drayton is cruel, ruthless and severely deformed. Lilly Hawthorne accepts a position as tutor to his six-year-old daughter, only to discover the rumors about her employer are frighteningly true. She is revolted, but has no choice. To save her sister from a dire financial predicament, Lilly agrees to marry him. Strangely, the man she shares a bed with is nothing like the vulgar creature she endures during the day. Lilly is left to wonder, will she ever uncover what’s truly hidden beneath her husband’s mask?

I liked this book the first time I read it, during this re-read I loved it, remember all those little details revealed because they will all be important. This book is a perfect example of how preconceived notions of a person can affect the way you interpret everything they do. This leads to a lot of misunderstandings in this book which means every time a relationship starts to develop it gets knocked back but in my opinion it's worth the wait. I like the fact that Charlotte's issue with reading is not portrayed as her being stupid like it is in so many books, it is simply recognition that she can't learn the same way and they may have to try different ways to assist her learning. I like Gabe even though he is surly as anything in this book. Chapter 45 nearly broke me, the frequent statement ||"If she came to him tonight" || interspersed throughout the chapter made me want to cry.

Extremely Fine Story

I loved this story. So far, in book one, the awkward dancing around feelings that consume Gabriel and Lillie are riveting. They struggle with their turmoil, and both seem to be at a loss as to how to communicate those feelings. They yearn for one another, even as they just can't find ways to tear down the barriers and insecurities that dog them both. I won't be a spoiler to the end of this story, however I also enjoyed the secondary and tertiary love hate love stories that make this a richly textured, gripping story. I hope to see more of this author's work, because, in my opinion she is one of the most talented writers I have read.

I could not put this book down! I started reading it at home and then took it to work with me the next day to finish it. I can't wait to start the 2nd book! The characters set a stage for mystery and lots of romance.

Couldn't put it down, and when I read the last page, I had to immediately download the sequel to my Kindle. Highly recommend!
