Buffy the Vampire Slayer: The Sunnydale High Yearbook

Rate this book
It's senior year for Buffy Summers and her friends. And that means homecoming, senior prom, finals, graduation—all the usual evil doings guaranteed to make the Chosen One long for recess.

Slayer duties caused Buffy to miss picking up her Yearbook, so Willow took it for her and enlisted the help of Xander, Oz, Cordelia, Giles, and Angel to make it truly special. Filled with personal notes, candid photos, and in-jokes about Slayerfest, Halloween, substitute teachers, the principal who was eaten, Ascension, etc.—Buffy's Yearbook is part school publication, part memory book.

Written by the authors of the bestselling The Watcher's Guide, this keepsake volume is packed with key references to the show and characters, 32 full-color pages of fan-favorite moments, and Graduation photos.

Those unforgettable years! Friends, fun and... fangs!

CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 1999!

This book from Buffy, the Vampire Slayer is a merger between a reference book and a high school yearbook-like.

You'll get cool pictures from many school activities like cheerleading, computer club, the prom dance and... monster hunting!

Never a boring day in Sunnydale High!

And if you were able to survive...

...literally!!!...

...those three years there...

You'll meet profiles from prominent graduating students from the 1999 generation like Buffy Summers, Willow Rosenberg, Xander Harris, Cordelia Chase and... even faculty members like that mysterious librarian, Mr. Giles!

THE CHALLENGES OF HIGH SCHOOL

Buffy Summer, the chosen Vampire Slayer for her generation, has faced too many menaces in her three years of high school: witches, vengeance demons, possessed puppets, insect teachers, etc... along with the big villains like The Master, Darla, Spike & Dru, Angelus, the Mayor & Faith.

Buffy wasn't the same after those three years. She lost innocence, she dealt with deaths from close ones, she matured, and of course she graduated from high school too.

And you can live again those high school years of Buffy and her friends in this awesome book!

This was cute. It's laid out like a real yearbook so like my actually yearbooks I skimmed or skipped paragraphs. I like the idea of this but reading through full paragraphs of info around clubs and people that went to SHS that I don't recognize eventually became too much. But I did enjoy the photos and all the small notes from the gang through out. The first end pages contain the typical signings for yearbooks but each felt like these characters wrote them to Buffy. Specifically the one from Giles actually made me emotional to read. It was sweet. This is a great book to have as a Buffy fan.

Came for the Jenny mentions.

Stayed for:
- The disproportionate amount of Giles-in-Band-Candy photos
- Oz's comments ("Buffy, to say the unsaid stuff I wrote a song. It's instrumental.")
- Cordelia
- The boring-as-fuck sports team descriptions
- The random bits that would categorically *not* show up in the actual yearbook (the random Spike/Dru photo was probably my fave)

This was hilarious and stupid and I loved it.

Who didn't carry this around like they'd just graduated from Sunnydale without being turned into a Vamp?!

I have owned a copy of this book since late 1999/early 2000 and in the past 16 years, I have "read" it more than a few times. Truth be told, I never thought that I would see the day where I would be willing to part with anything Buffy, but that day has come, so I read through it one more time before adding it to the box of "trade-in".
This is a neat little addition to any Buffy fan's collection as it is a basic overview of the first three (and best) seasons. It looks almost like a real yearbook and reads like one as well, Granted, it has mostly pics of Buffy and Gang which would not be the case with a real yearbook, but people weren't paying for an actual high school annual, so it makes sense. Also, since he wasn't a student, Angel wouldn't have been in it if that was the case, so I am glad that it was structured the way that it was.
I loved looking through this and remembering some of the highlights of the early years; it was a nice trip down memory lane of what used to be one of my favorite shows.
I can't see the casual viewer wanting to read this as this is kinda for the die-hards. You aren't missing anything if you never added it to your collection, as it only expands on students that never really mattered. In fact, that was my biggest complaint... the lists of names for all the sports teams and etc. Definitely skimming material.

I'm still having trouble dealing with the fact that I am ready to part with this book but it isn't so much getting rid of the book itself as the fact that I'm ok with trading it in and moving on that gives me pause.

A cute look-back at not only graduating year, but the first three seasons the Scooby Gang (known as Slayerettes early in the series) spent at Sunnydale High (R.I.P.). There are different categories dedicated to student life (activities, clubs, sport, etc.), the faculty, an actual (smallish) yearbook picture section, a memorial for both students and staff who've lost their lives, and more, plus two eight-page sections featuring full-color pictures of the stars and letters from both the mayor and, even better, ol' Ratface himself, Principal Snyder. A fun little memento for anyone who loves BtVS.

First, I looked at this as a regular yearbook. The people who put it together did a rather good job. There's clubs, teams and faculty along with pictures of seniors. There's ads, as there are in some yearbooks. There's various other things that do a good job of mimiking a regular yearbook.

Since it's a Buffy the Vampire Slayer yearbook there are a good number of color photos of the cast members and a good number of black and white photos.

There are a couple of places in the book where comments are made that I don't think would make it in a real yearbook but there's only a couple. Overall I think the people who did this did a very good job.

You have to be a total BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER fan to truly appreciate this book, but as fan/tie-in literature goes, this is probably my favorite piece of geekdom of all time. Full of injokes and references to the best years of the cult series (seasons 1-3), this piece of silly fluff is a total must for anyone who loves the show, especially for its poignant and on-target satire of the American high school experience.

This is dumb as hell but super cute. Little annoyed they forgot Amy was a rat. Kinda just blew past that one. Anyway, whatever, I was just excited to find this at an otherwise non-nerdy used book store. My Buffy book collection is nearing completion. Only 22 left.

THIS IS FANTASTIC. AND SO GREAT. IT IS SUPER GREAT.

Also it's a book based off a TV show, so it's totally going to count for my 2015 Reading Challenge!

The Sunnydale High Yearbook is a quick and fun read for anyone who is a Buffy fan. It's packed with pics of all the characters, lists all the students in the grade and is full of cool notes along the way. That's without adding all the other great content because this resembles a real yearbook perfectly.

Loved flipping through the pages. Not to mention that every page reminded me how much I enjoyed the show and I couldn't help but think back.

Lotsa fun!

Congratulations Class of 1999! 😈

This was really cute! I didn't know what to expect from Buffy's school yearbook, and loved the inclusion of notes written in from the Scooby Gang. This was really fun to flip through, and I'd recommend it to any nostalgic Buffy fans.

If you are not an avid fan of the show, this could be a nice book. Otherwise, it's super disappointing and idiotic. It's an awesome concept but poorly executed.

I really loved the look of this book. I loved the signatures in the front and back covers, like in a real yearbook. The notes throughout and the pictures added were nice too.
My one main issue, which made me take away a star, is that some of the articles in the book had nothing to really do with series it seems.
Overall great and quick read. Might need to own this, just because it belongs in the Buffyverse.

This was a fun read! If you are a fan of what we feel is the Greatest TV show of all time then you will enjoy this book! (if you aren't a fan then sadly this book probably won't mean too much to you!). It is done in the classic format of a high school yearbook complete with inscriptions, photos etc. It was such fun, so creatively done, it is a great laugh and just makes me want to watch the entire series again! If you are a fan of Buffy, get this great tribute book!
