When I reached a point where it felt like my anxiety was overwhelming, I reached out online and searched through several different books before landing on this one. The word "Rebalance" stood out to me, as I believe that life is all about balance. And RE-balance. Because, inevitably, things WILL get out of balance from time to time. Someone once said to me that life is not about being perfect. Life is about FIXING. Things will go wrong, but it is how we react to these wrongs that will eventually set things right. Enter "Anxiety Rebalance."
Carl Vernon's voice is nice - that is an important element to me, as I often listen to books via Audible.com. He's got what appears to be a British accent, and it is soothing. He also doesn't BS - he seems to approach his listeners with a sense of respect and camaraderie. He's been down this path himself, and he knows all the BS things people like to say to people suffering with anxiety. He goes through several of these BS things and helps you feel like, "No, you're not crazy. This is manageable." And no, the answer does not lie in a single-answer solution. Handling anxiety and overcoming its strangle-hold takes more than just one approach. And this is a good thing.
I think the greatest take-away I got from this book was that anxiety's biggest trick is to make you want to THINK about how to SOLVE it; however, the very act of FOCUSING on the anxiety only causes it to GET WORSE. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but trust me: read the book, get some useful tools to add to your belt, and face your anxiety. It can be done. Thank you, Carl - oh yeah: bonus note to readers! He has a blog/website with ongoing content so you can continue to read more of his helpful writings on rebalancing anxiety. Very cool.

A friend gave me this book to read, in its pages I recognised loads of my self, things I do to cope that don't really help! I think what I loved most about this book is its not a "I can cure your anxiety" type book its more of a let's look at your anxiety, break things down and what can you do yourself to help yourself type book and that resonates with me!

At a time in my life when high anxiety was taking over and I was weak to be able to overcome it I found this book. I could relate to ever stage in it and realise I was allowing my anxiety and my panic attacks ( now called bill) to rule me and everything I did or didn't do. The way it is written is a though a friend is giving you the advice because at no point in this book does he tell you what you have to do its all your choice. The 10 stages are brilliant because it's making you realise that you have the tools in you to overcome everything life has to throw at you as well as your anxiety and depression. I am also on his mailing list and recently received I am anxious, this also opened my eyes as most of the stages in that I can relate to. All in all I love his books and have gained a great deal of help from them in a period of my life I am struggling with and thanks to Carl and support from family will overcome it. All I can say is this is the book that helped me when many others couldn't and I recommend it to anyone who is like me and allowing anxiety too much control. Thank you so much Carl vernon for sharing your experiences with us.

This book was actually given to me by the first person that knew about my anxiety. At the time, I hadn’t been diagnosed and was in complete denial. The biggest mistake I made with this book was keeping it on my shelf for 3 years before I decided to pick it up again. With a lot of big changes and plans happening recently, I started to lose touch with the techniques I had learnt during Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and anxiety had started to take the drivers seat again. This book set me right back on track to recovery (something that can never actually be achieved, your not ‘recovering’ from anything).

Granted, I think the teachings of this book are most resonant with someone who has been through the worst and come back from it. At the depth of the worst times for my anxiety and depression, it was my ignorance (and fear) to change and my denial that stopped me from looking out for help or picking up this book. Anxiety is a very isolating place that convinces you that no one else is going through it, your situation is different and that ‘no one gets it’. Carl has found a book that reaches to those people.

Carl Vernon gets it. That’s all I need to say, he gets it. Your not reading from a psychology text book, your not reading from a shallow and cliche self-help book (trust me, theres plenty of them), your reading from someone who has suffered from anxiety and dealt with it, and its inspiring. He mentions everything is a suggestion, which helps the ‘no one gets it’ problem.

The best teaching I got from it was there are only 2 things you fear; people and death. It’s astounding how real this fact is. Fear is the only driver for anxiety and depression, yet all fear is is False Evidence Appearing Real. While I endorse talking therapies more than anything, if that is something your not comfortable with and you are looking for help, this book will be the next best thing. It also gave me the inspiration to write this review and push my comfort zone.

This review is a little longer than the previous reviews because I think the subject is important, especially for the time that we live in. The suicide rate for the UK in 2017 was 6,213 people. Thats 6,213 lives that felt so islotated they had no other option. Of this statistic, it was worked out that men are 3 times more likely to commit suicide than women. But this doesn’t mean this is a one-sided fight. In 2017, 8.2 million people in the UK alone were diagnosed with anxiety and depression. From this sample, it was discovered that women are twice as likely to suffer from anxiety and depression. Its a subject that needs talking about.

There is a real sense of liberation when you open up to someone close to you about something that consumes some people for years and years and this openness is something that we should try and make comfortable for everyone. If you are feeling any sort of anxiety or depressive thoughts, or even thoughts of suicide, there are organisations and contacts you can reach out to that well and truly care about your wellbeing:

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was nice to split the reading into two parts. I like how there are mini sections so you can easily go to the section you want to read and don't have to remember each page etc. As a young person this really helped open my eyes to what can happen and that a lot of people do suffer what I suffer. I like how it felt like he was talking to you and not at you, plus the mini stories were very insightful. I would really recommend this book on your way to recovery.

The book is a good overview of things that help when you suffer from anxiety. Unfortunately I did not find anything new to me in it. The book is not as novel as it claims but still definitely worth a read if you suffer from anxiety.

I picked this book up when I was having a really tough time, things started to get better so the book kinda got lost on my shelf for a while, I decided to finish it as I needed help again, and out of all information books this by far is the best.
The writings really smooth and easy to understand there isn’t so much advice crammed onto one page it’s spread out over a course of 200 pages which was awesome
And the advice itself was incredibly good, I’ve been practicing it and it has dramatically helped me out, so I do really recommend this book to everyone!

Best for those people who have been newly diagnosed with anxiety or who have no idea where to start in implementing a healthy lifestyle/routine that will support their mental health. Nothing new for someone who has lived with anxiety for a long time and has these things already in place.

Her insan hayatının bazı dönemlerinde stresli, depresif, panik atak hissedip anksiyete sahibi olabilir.

Didn’t enjoy and I was left wondering how anyone with such deep anxiety and depression was able to hide it from their partner, I certainly could not.
