My world faced its end, but I refused to perish with it! So I intercepted a summoning ceremony from another world.

One moment!? My summoner tried to summon a demon? Fuck it, I think it’s better to break the contract and do my own thing… or not? Why is Mrs. Sacrifice hugging me? And why am I suddenly a child!?

Nejlepší absurdní kniha, kterou jsem za poslední dobu četla. A k tomu propracovaná!
A ten jeden zvrat.

I like books where the MC is actually competent. I also got tired long ago of books that artificially stage a big showdown between the good guys and bad guys. For example, I once read an urban fantasy where the MC was an assassin and, instead of calling out the bad guy for a big showdown, the MC shot him with a sniper rifle. Anti-climatic? Not for me, I loved it that that MC did the smart thing rather than the dramatic. (The "assassin" book series REALLY went downhill from there and that first book wasn't that great to begin with- I just really liked the ending, so forgive me for not giving the title.)

Here a prodigy magic user is born in the vicinity of a summoning spell gone wrong resulting in the prodigy, Azir, receiving the knowledge of an 800 year old wizard from another world. Greatness may await Azir, but first he has to convince his grandmother he's not a demon and get through kindergarten.

Time passes and memories of an 800 year old wizard or no, Azir meets a girl. An apparently clan-less girl with no prospects in their matriarchal clan-based society. What's a boy to do? Exactly what his girlfriend tells him to do while she arranges their engagement.

From there Azir finds his way into the battle against dark wizard terrorists, a mere interest for him until his fiance is threatened is nearly killed. Azir finds a focus for his wealth of knowledge and takes matters into his own hands.

Azir next finds his way into international politics. His country, Nict, faces hostile tribes in the south and a "cold war" with their neighbor in the north. Plus, due to its history, modern Nict is a bit backward and isolationist so useful information is again hard to come by, at least until Azir can get his drones up and flying. As Azir's information gathering improves it becomes increasing clear that Nict is the focus of an international conspiracy, one that will stretch even Arir's abilities.

Bottom line: A fun romp. Cotton candy for an adult fantasy reader's brain.

The ending got a bit slow. Other than that, the magic system was enjoyable and the humor on point, despite its occasional scarcity.

The reference to Gardener and Winter makes it clear that this happens some time before Transcendence.

Odpad, ale moc hezky se to cte. Ma to takovy Kulhankovsky efekt - zabavne, i kdyz infantilni. Od autora jsem cetl jeste i Until Death, a oboji jsou velmi podobne napsane, i kdyz v jinem settingu. Back to back cist oboji nedoporucuju.

This is might be Andur's craziest novel of the series.
If you liked the previous books, this has more of the same awesomeness, while keeping it fresh.
