Kieran O'Shea gave less than a damn about pretenses. He'd seen the ugliness of life. Wallowed in it. Survived it. Then took it up a notch, and thrived in the chaos. His one redemption, Derrica "Rica" Ward. She was the beam of light in his dark world. Until a bastard took her...he was reclaiming what was his. The devil has name, it's Kieran O'Shea and he's bringing hell with him.
Kassanna is a strong believer in love at first sight and happily ever afters. After meeting her husband in November and marrying him three months later in February the two have survived and mostly enjoyed every adventure life has thrown their way. Ten years, two children, a couple of dogs and a wild turkey that came out the woods and somehow adopted them - later- the adventure continues.
Writing has always been her passion but fate sometimes has other roads that must first be taken . Navigating the road less traveled was not only unexpected but in the end extremely rewarding. Her books are mainly contemporary romance but she has delved into the paranormal and plans on expanding into other areas as the ideas come to her. Right now she is enjoying life and seeing her work come into fruition make it that much more pleasurable especially when her books make others smile. Kassanna wouldn't have it any other way.
Kieran, councilman, lawyer and business owner is a stone-cold badass and Rica, his pretty girl/ woman and partner in crime are truly deadly together but miserable apart. Rica manages the Irish Club/bar which is one of Kieran's legitimate businesses. He met her in the strangest way and five years later, they are still going strong!
But now it's time to make some major changes in South Boston including getting rid of the O'Shea's old man, Paddy O'Shea and his number #1 sidekick, Danny O'Sullivan! Furthermore, there seems to be a braven stitch in the group too??? Is it Martin, Esteban, Krank or Roscoe??? I know but you don't unless you read "Kieran: Irish Sugar!"
Hate and love is on the same coin. Kieran hates his Da. But he loves his brothers. And he will do anything to avenge the life they had to live because of their father. As a young boy he had to live in hell because of his father and he vowed he would pay him back in spades. With the help of his 3 brothers. The only bright spot in his life is his woman. Rica. When Rica is taken The timetable to get rid of his father changes. And all hell is about to break loose. Because Karen doesn't play that Sh*t. Somebody's going to get dropped real quick. This is the first time I've read this author and I thoroughly enjoyed this episode of the O'shea brothers.
This is Kieran and Rica's story and my favourite book in the 4 book series.
I loved that Kieran and Rica understood their relationship and Kieran knew Rica could take care of herself. Rica is a total bad-ass and I loved that about her. She can defend her own-self!!! However, if you mess with Kieran's woman you better prepare to die.
Felt a little incomplete to me, like I jumped in in the middle and when it ended it was still in the middle. Considering these are considered standalone in a series about brothers maybe I misunderstood. How did Kieran and Rica meet... I recall the court scene but why was he in that chamber. And then the constant leaving her to live his legal life didn't really do it for me. I'll give it a chance and see if another brothers book is better but right now it's getting a 2*.
I really loved Shannon and Fionn's books and it pains me to write such a low rating for this one. But this one was meh. When I started reading, I felt like I was dumped into the middle of Rica and Kieran's story. There wasn't any building or any introduction to them really. I didn't read the back of the book, so I had no idea. The other things that were a negative for me: - Book needed serious editing. You couldn't tell what was a text or a thought. There were tons of spelling errors and missing punctuation. And the flashbacks, I didn't know what was going on because there was no indication of a time change (you went back to when he was a kid and when he first met Rica). It was really hard to follow. - There was no build up to their love story like in the other books. No meet cute. - The ending was extremely rushed, felt thrown together and I didn't feel like Kieran really wanted to go to Rica. - Pick a name and stick with it. Introduce them and then use a nickname, or have only 1 person use their nickname. This book would say one sentence with a full name and then the next say their nickname. It was like reading about 2 different people. Martin and Marty. Derrica and Rica.
I found myself glancing at the page numbers on the bottom to see when this story would be over. I was disappointed. I even asked my husband if I should get rid of it because I felt like it didn't fit the Irish Sugar series. Maybe read it because it's part of the series, but beware, it's not the best book.
I was honestly disappointed by this book. I have the Amazon Unlimited subscription and I rarely have to pay for books. I thought this book was worth the purchase based off the description, but it left me feeling unfilled and disappointed. For one, it was predictable. It was easy to see where the plot was going throughout the story. Also, the amount of grammatical errors detracted from the story. Half of the time, my attention would wander to which publishing company fudged up and let this go to print.
10/08/24 Second time reading this, I love a good interracial erotic romance, this gave me all that and then some. It makes you wish that some of the men you dated act like Kieran and his brothers, because I know growing up I had a lot of same attitude as Rica’s. I brought the pain and bada$$ any where I went, then married someone who I thought was my other half. I can honestly say he did not treat me like Kieran, that the only messed up part this is just a great story.
I have difficulty reading this one on Kieran. I read the one on Conall and it was pretty good. It had a flow which is important for a stand alone story and the reader will know about the characters. This one was difficult because there was no explanation on how Kieran's girl came into his life. Sorry but this one did not hold my interest.
I was hoping for more from Rica as far as her being able to take care of herself when it came to danger but she seemed to be all talk. The relationship of the two seemed a bit off but not enough to take away from the story.
This was good. A far cry from Conall. I like Kieran - a bad boy. Rica and his relationship is very strange. But it works for them. I can't wait for Fionn's story.
Kieran O'Shea is the oldest of the O'Shea Brothers and maybe the most dangerous. He is amazing and deadly. The mask of civility he wears doesn't conceal his predatory nature or his cold bloodedness. If you had any sense, you avoided crossing him or annoying him.
Paddy O'Shea was Kieran's father and there was no love lost between them. Paddy lacked good sense and went after Kieran and his brothers. What would Kieran do?
Derrica did not suffer fools gladly and ran Irish with grace and an iron stiletto. She was the perfect woman for Kieran. Buy the books and see how they coexist and handle business.
Kassanna continues to amaze me and leave me begging for more. Her books are vivid and engages the reader from the beginning with alluring visuals and a strong storyline. Way to go Kassanna!!
I love when a bad boy has a bad girl by his side and they click on so many levels.I love when he so possessive about her that sometimes he does crazy things. This was a short story that I knew was just going to wet my appetite for more. You get a really start but you get that feeling it is only a few chapters from a story that should've been longer.I love the storyline and the plot both are excellent, what I didn't like was if you are going to be short at least tell it right and tie it up neatly. This was a good bad book that hooks you and then nothing.
Good story, written well and had a nice flow. Rica and Kieran had an arrangement of sorts, not really a romance but,it soon turned into one. Kieran was so hot and all Alpha male! Rica was a bit of a cold bi#@h. Usually that doesn't bother me b/c the women have a softer side that works,Rica did not, I really did not care for her.Not my favorite book, but a good read none the less.
I absolutely loved this read. Kieran O'shea is the business. The description of him is totally hot. I like the fact that Rica is a no nonsense woman and she can hold her own. You see love there, especially from Kieran. Great plot, excellent character interaction and phenomenal bedroom play. Loved it Kassanna~~ 5 stars, highly recommend.
I'm already a fan so I knew this would be something I would like the theme of these stories seems to be about good and evil and how you deal with the responsibility of the choices you make good read with unexpected love
Kieran and Derrica are an extremely unlikely couple. He, a Boston Councilman lawyer, on the outside and thug on the inside and she a crazy woman that could hold her own. While their "love" story is a focus, the main story is of sons coming into their own against a ruthless father.
A businessman, councilman and a lawyer is who he portrays himself as but his past can never be forgotten. Rica is his light and those who harm his "pretty girl" will perish. I loved this story!
RICA is the literal embodiment of who I am. I love that girl!!! This was a great read Kieran O'Shea is Hot!!! and his all consuming alpha attitude is the best. Just fantastic!
