Buffy: Wait. Handbook? What handbook? How come I don't have a handbook? Willow: Is there a T-shirt, too? 'Cause that would be cool . . . -2.10, What's My Line?, Part Two
Just found out you're the Slayer, and feeling a bit overwhelmed? Never fear, it's all right here in Technicolor goodness: the dos, the dont's, the whys, the wherefores, even a few what's what. There's also some notes from the Slayers' diaries, just in case you don't hail from Sunnydale. Study up-it's your neck on the line (literally)! The Slayer's Handbook is a supplement for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer roleplaying game.
In it, you will find: - Background on being a Slayer, tales of the Slayers and advice for Directors on using Slayers in their games. - New character creation ideas, qualities and drawbacks, and more character archetypes . - Guidelines for alternative settings in a Slayer-oriented game, including different places, times and histories. - Three ready-to-play mini-settings for Slayers of all shapes and sizes. - A complete Episode continuing the plotline begun in the BTVS corebook.
C.J. discovered his obsession with making up crap and writing it down at the age of 6, when he wrote his first short story, back in the days when the Cold War was still on and the only mobile devices were the wrist watch and the walkie-talkie. He's been making up crap and writing it down for fun and profit ever since.
Such a great supplement for the Buffy RPG. The main book does an excellent job setting up a traditional Buffy game, but this book blows open the doors to have all sorts of alternative settings: Post-Apocalypse Buffy? Yep. Old West Buffy? That’s in here. Pacific Northwest Buffy? Also, a nice setting. Only reason why this book isn’t 5 stars is that the last 20 pages(ish) is weirdly a description of character traits and how they apply to characters from the show. Kind of an odd choice as it adds basically nothing. Still, the book is great and worthwhile if you’re looking to run something different.
Nice addition to the rpg line for Buffy. Gives more insight into the Slayer, some extra Qualities/Drawbacks, some archetypes that are well thought out (though do check the eratta for them). And some alternate timeline settings.
