Fun, feisty and entertaining, The Accidental Boyfriend takes you Paris, not Texas, and back.

Holly is ready to face life by making her best friend fall in love with her. She jumps on a plane and sets out find him on a business trip in Paris, France. It just so happens her friend/hopeful Mr. Right is in Paris Texas leaving stuck in the city of love alone.

Jack has a thing for Holly but he has a serious condition of commitment-phobia. On the request of his friends and Holly's family, he jumps on a plane to bring Holly back from France.

Holly accidentally claims Jack as her boyfriend to Jack’s family. Jack’s family doesn’t believe Jack will change his ways so Holly feels it is her job to make them see Jack for the good guy she knows he is.

Romance ignites in the city of Love. Can Holly get over her supposed dream man? Can Jack truly commit?

If you are looking for a light, fun, read with slightly delusional but very determined characters, The Accidental Boyfriend is the book for you.

The Accidental Boyfriend is the first book that I've read by Maggie Dallen. Apparently, this is also part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Maybe if I had read the other books in the series I would have enjoyed this book more. Because as it stands, I found these characters pretty annoying and "woe-is-me" throughout.

And for someone who whats to have a real relationship with her "Mr. Right", Holly sure didn't think about him while she was hooking up with Jack.

RATING: 2 out of 5

description

I found out after I read The Accidental Boyfriend that there is actually a book that comes before it. I had no idea that it was in a series! It's certainly not touted as one on Goodreads or Amazon for that matter. That would have been good to know! While this one is a stand-alone, I'm sure that the story would have been amplified if I had read the first one. I would suggest that if you're interested in this one that you read The Accidental Engagement first. Just a thought.

The Accidental Boyfriend was okay. It was a good story and all but I didn't really like the main character, Holly. I liked Jack ... he was an awesome character! But Holly on the other hand ... she was just a mess. And not in a good way. She is this character that lives in a delusional world where she is in "destined" for this man named Ben all because they dated when they were in the 8th grade. Really? 8th grade? That's 14 years old. It just made the story not believable at all. Maybe if it was a high school romance, that would be different. But stating that your soul mate is this dude that you dated for a few months in middle school is just crazy! Holly is completely obsessed with this poor man and he CLEARLY wants nothing to do with her in a romantic sense. Ben took up a big portion of the book for him not to be the main male character. Honestly, the whole "thing" (and that is stretching the word to the limit) between Holly and Ben lasted entirely too long. I understand that it was needed in the plot but it was like perpetuating a nightmare. I just wanted it to end.

The whole thing with Holly and Ben made me want to just put the book down. It's not because it was so unbelievable, although that in itself should have been reason enough. The book was pretty slow. Again, that could be due to the Holly/Ben issue. I enjoyed the times with Jack and Holly but everything had a Ben-obsession undercurrent to it. EVERY scene had Ben in it somehow ... either they were talking about him or Holly was thinking about him. I just don't find that obsession realistic. Can a seemingly sane person (this is assuming Holly is sane, I guess) be so infatuated with someone they dated a decade ago that they think there is a shot at a romantic relationship when the other half of the equation has made it clear that nothing is there? Does this mean that Holly is a psychopath? Dude, that would make for an interesting plot twist! Unfortunately, that's not what happens.

Maybe I'm reading too much into the words on the page. Maybe I should just take everything at face value when I pick up a book. But that's not how my mind works, I guess. I just couldn't connect with Holly and her weirdness. I wanted to ... I was really excited to pick this book up because I thought that the idea behind the book was so very interesting but ... yeah. Didn't happen.

The Accidental Boyfriend isn't a bad book. It's pretty good but it could have been so much better, in my mind. It just didn't hit the mark. Maybe it will for you, though.

Holly Sinclair aka Holiday is not one for committing or staying in one place too long; hence the nickname everyone gave her. Yet when tragedy strikes Holly takes a good, long look at her life. She now wants nothing more than to settle down and start a family. However, the man she has chosen will never see her as more than a friend.
Sounds quite contradictory, right? Do not get me wrong there were many great things about this book that had me turning the pages. Then there were other points that could not be looked over and affected the book as a whole. Oh, and by the way, this is part of a series but it is not really mentioned. So it can be read alone as the first book is recapped in The Accidental Boyfriend but it would have been nice to know before I jumped into it.
Pros: An adventure seeker, Holly, who is not afraid to live life to the fullest. A loyal and carefree business man, Jack, will do anything he can to see Holly smile and experience life the way she is. He needs Holly to see herself as perfect the way he sees her. There is a fierce connection between all the characters that is hard to find in real life. You can’t help but feel like you want to be a part of their fold. Plus it is set in Paris!
Cons: Holly wants Benjamin because he seems stable, reliable, and they have history: in the eighth grade. He has always treated her as a best friend but someone who tends to be flighty. She knows this yet tries to change everything who she is for him. She is constantly berating herself because she wants Benjamin but will fall into bed with Jack easy peasey. Then there is the fact that Jack is once again lying about someone being with him.
Overall, it was a quick, sweet read. A contemporary romance at its most endearing but sadly it did not hook me the way I wanted it too. Plus, it seems with this series it is a constant mistaken identity. First, Ivy is Jack’s fiancée (The Accidental Engagement), then Holly is Jack’s girlfriend (The Accidental Boyfriend), and the third one that’s coming out (The Accidental Elopement), Lucia is mistaken for an illegal in need of work with no ties to her grandfather’s fortune.

A story set in the city of love, and I'm talking about the France kind, not the Texas ;)

A world-wind romance set in two of the most romantic cities, Paris and Tuscany. I could almost imagine the whole scenario playing out and I so badly wanted to be in Tuscany or Paris while reading it. My dream to go to Paris doubled over while reading the story.

Holly and Jack were a cute couple. Their attraction was palpable from the beginning with only them being blind to it. The only thing I've got to complain was Holly's constant ranting about Benjamin. I swear, even though he had done nothing wrong, I literally hated him. I too flinched every time I read his name and almost felt sorry for him. It was not his fault. It was sweet of Jack . Ultimately we got the HEA we wanted. Hopefully they will see that they belong together and make cute babies like Daniel and Ivy.

Plot:

The book is about Jack and Holly, and their struggle with their inability to
commit to a relationship.

Review:

The book is about Jack and Holly, both are unwilling to commit. Jack
acknowledges it bravely. Holly, however, comes up with a plan to find the
person to settle with (her best friend Benjamin) and make him realize that they
are made for each other. Great plan, right?
Of course not.
She chases Benjamin to wrong Paris, where Jack comes to rescue, coz Holly
has an over-protective family, or so it seems. They fall for each other, and
yet stupidly keep talking about 'I don't want to commit'.
Long story short, it takes a few interventions to make them see reason and that
is followed by a happily ever after.
It is part of a series but can be read standalone, if you're not too picky
about every little detail about the characters.
The way I read it, it tells us a lesson - about not becoming someone else
just to realize one or more of your dreams.

So, everyone out there who wants me to talk incessantly to get a promotion
and indirectly JUST so your egos are massaged, here's an announcement.
NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. The expected publication date is May 24, 206.

This story is part of a really cute series however can be read as a stand alone. I did have the opportunity to read the previous story The Accidental Engagement so I was excited to read this one.

This story is every girls guilty pleasure. What can be better than a love story that take place in the city of romance, Paris. Although not on the top of my list of places to go I can see the appeal.

I loved that Holly and Jack were exactly the same. Both struggling with their sense of identity yet both grasping everything they can from life. Both adventurous, outgoing and fun. The fact that they were at odds with what they wanted from life added to their chemistry. The fact that what they thought they wanted and what they really needed were two different things added to the drama of the story.

At the end of the day, you knew how this story was going to end but it didn't matter. What mattered was the fun along the way and that was plentiful!

This was a really cute story. You got two flighty people with a fear of commitment, however, Holly thinks she wants to settle down. The only problem is she thinks her BFF is the one she should settle for. Holly meets Jack at her sisters wedding and there is an instant connection but since he's a notorious playboy, Holly tries to stay away from him in favor of Benjamin, the reliable, steadfast BFF. This probably sounds like a love triangle but it really isn't. Benjamin isn't interested in settling with Holly. It's more in her head than reality. Benjamin represents the perfect family in her mind. She just thinks she can talk him into it. In the meantime Holly and Jack can't seem to stay away from each other yet don't want to commit. It's the classic "I want you, but don't want you, followed by losing you to realizing I love you" scenario. It all sounds more angsty than what it is. It really is a light hearted read. There is a first book in the series about Holly's sister and Jacks's business partner. You don't have to read it first but you do have the couple in this book.

This is actually book two in the series by Maggie Dallen, The Accidental Engagement being the first. It was nice to see where Ivy and Daniel's relationship was, but other than that this novel is pretty stand alone. I know if you had not read the first you would feel like Holly and Jack had a moment in the first novel, but really this one brings you up to speed. Other than meeting and a kiss, there is really not much in the first book for these two, other than getting to know Jack better.

Holly was a fun character, but I had trouble identifying with her, what she said she wanted and what her actions showed were two different things, which was probably the point, but it didn't make her a strong character, but I did like her attitude and how she made her life more than it was. I think I disliked Benjamin almost as much as Jack. What is with him stringing her along and giving her false hope!!! I hate that trait in people!! "He's such a nice guy…." If he were nice he would be straight with her.

Jack as always is a great guy that lets people think what they want to, most of the time it doesn't bother him. Go Jack!

This book did contain romantic scenes, so I would not label it as a clean romance, but it is a good read.

All the elements for a wicked romance in the city of Paris between a delusional, Holly and commitment phobia, Jack. The characters are well developed and though I did not read the first in the series I felt this stood well on its own merit. It does tempt me to read the first one knowing how I like the romance of great looking rich hunks in foreign countries. hmmm, yeah!!

A quick, adorable read...even if I wanted to knock some sense into Holly a few times. She has it set in her mind that she should settle down and has the perfect guy in mind...and he's nothing like Jack who is a total playboy. Fate keeps throwing these two together though, and before you know it, the chemistry is more than Holly's best laid plans can contend with.

Cute with a touch of heat and you get to know enough about the characters to really care about them. I should go back and read the first book, because that sounds like a wild story.

When Holly Sinclair was met with a life changing crisis it made her look at her life style differently. You see ever since she turned 18 she had been traveling all over the world having wonderful fulfilling experiences. She did however go to college and got her teacher’s degree and did that in some of the place as means to help her live. But she only did it for short term subbing jobs in all types of schools.
Her family as well as her best friend not to mention her ex-boyfriend never approved of her lifestyle of jet setting. They thought of it as her be a woman who could not settle down or commit. They were always worried about her like she was a poor defenseless girl. They saw her as irresponsible.
The thing was this crisis sent her home to try and to conform to everyone’s wishes to be this normal stay put woman. You know the one? A good teaching job, a husband (her BFF – Ben), a few children, and a home with a white picket fence and never traveling again. There was just one huge glitch. Benjamin her ex and BFF won’t get with the program. He doesn’t believe she has changed so after months he won’t even date her. But they hang out all the time.
But when her sister Ivy married wealthy businessman Daniel and he happened to be business partners with the tabloid playboy she had a crush on for forever she almost died. In fact, Jack Everett was Ivy’s best friend. So, at the wedding in Tuscany, Italy, Holly got up close and personal with Jack. Not going as far as doing the nasty but being that he was the tabloid hottie, she should have figured there would be photographers hiding in the bushes. She never thought that her own mother would be the one to fire the first shot. It wasn’t a damning shot it was just of her and Jack so she felt like she had to explain it to Benjamin but he didn’t even react.
Then months later another one shows up. This looks like they were kissing or at least getting ready too. So she left the last day of school without clearing out her classroom to find Benjamin. But when she did she didn’t get a chance to explain because when she walked in his house she sees his packed bags for a trip. Now they either saw or talked to each other every night but he never said he was going anywhere so she was crushed but she was pissed too. She worked hard to react asking when he planned on telling her he was going and planned on telling her he was going and when and where? He said he planned on telling her that night at dinner. He was leaving the next morning to Paris.
Now, then she almost lost it. So rather than lose it she said it had been a long day. She said to tired to go out and that he probably had things to do before his trip and she just left. She left to go home and cry. But then it came to her she could be the romantic one and follow him to Paris and booked a flight.
When she arrives she calls her pregnant sister who after 9 months is ready to deliver and says she followed Ben to Paris to be romantic. Ivy is not happy at all. Holly is the only one that doesn’t know that Ben is not interested in a relationship with her he just wants to be friends. Holly says to tell the family and that she will check in a few days. She’ll be searching all of France and hangs up. Ivy goes into a panic and goes to talk to Daniel, Jack and Brunelli and explain that Holly is on a wild goose chase in Paris. She says she needs to go after her. But Daniel says no because she is due at any time. So he says he will go but Jack says no he will go that Jack needs to stay with Ivy. So starts the chase because you see Ben went to Paris, Texas not Paris, France. Plus, Jack says he is doing it for his BFF Ivy and Daniel his business partner but he has unfinished business with Holly he can only handle in person.
I loved this story of two people who find their self-worth after allowing others to dictate it for so long. In doing so find true love and a HEA. I give this 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at: www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

I just recently got home from Paris, so I was super excited to read the latest from Maggie Dallen, The Accidental Boyfriend, book two in her A Chance Romance series. It was fun to revisit the sounds and smells of this romantic city as Jack Everett and Holly Sinclair found that sometimes what you think you want and what you need are two very different things. And, while The Accidental Boyfriend revisits characters and events from book one, The Accidental Engagement, Dallen does a nice job of making it easily a standalone novel.

Holly has had a huge crush on Jack since he started gracing the pages of tabloid magazines with his antics and sexual conquests. When she meets him at her sister’s wedding, sparks fly between the two, but Holly douses the flames because Jack is not the type of guy she wants. Though she’s lived her life much the same way as Jack-living all over the world and casual relationships-a tragic event has convinced her she needs stability. She’s determined to prove to everyone that her high school sweetheart, Ben, is the man to give her that. When she flies to Paris to surprise Ben, she finds herself on a collision course with Jack, the one temptation that can ruin everything with Ben.

Jack hasn’t been able to forget Holly since the night he walked away from her. Convinced he’s nothing but trouble to everyone he loves, he holds himself at a distance, living up to his image as a playboy. This includes staying away from Holly, his best friend’s sister-in-law. When he’s sent to Paris to save Holly from making a huge mistake, he’s incapable of resisting her and the sparks between them ignite.

There’s everything to like about The Accidental Boyfriend. Holly and Jack are easy to like characters, both facing similar issues in that they feel they’ve consistently let down the people that love them. While Holly craves the textbook version of stability, Jack races away from it. I enjoyed the development of both these characters as they learned that the definition of “normal” and “stable” are what they make it rather than what they’ve been told it is. Their romance is steamy, and more importantly, fun. The supporting characters act as the perfect springboard for both Holly and Jack as they learn who they are and fall in love. The Accidental Boyfriend is perfect for reading while sitting on the beach or curling up on a rainy day. 3.5 Stars, Heat Level: 3

Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington for my ARC

I read Maggie Dallen's first book Accidental Engagement and I enjoy that book.
I remember reading about Jack as playboy and Holly, Ivy's free spirited sister.. I enjoyed reading about Jack and Holly.

Jack and Holly are afraid of commitment. Both loves to live at the moment too much to settle down. Holly and Jack were photographed kissing each other and it landed on gossip page. Both met at Ivy and Daniel's wedding and they had a wonderful time and share a kiss.
However, Holly was determined to marry a her high school sweetheart who is total opposite. she was picturing a house, picket fences and couple kids running around. she was willing to settle down as long as she could have all of that. But she not in love with him but she was determine to pursue whether he loved her back.
To pursue her so called future husband, she decided to fly to Paris France while her boyfriend is in Paris, Texas.
When Ivy wants to find out Holly was in Paris, she wanted to send Daniel to get her but Ivy was approaching her due date, so Jack volunteer to take Daniel's place.
Jack finds her and he is willing to take her to Brunelli's apartment in Paris. They were drawn to each other but Holly couldn't give up her dream of having a family.
Accidentally Holly introduces Jack as her boyfriend and he did same to her to his family. His brother and Jack were not in great terms and built to that they faces his father and mother. his farce engagement to Ivy broke their hearts and he couldn't do that to them. so he was really cautious to reveal their relationship.
Unfortunately, both were falling for each other but Holly was too stubborn to let her dream of family and stable life.
But their happy and fun time is closing and will both realize what they have?
Eventually they realize what they have but is that enough to save what they have.
In the middle, it really bugged me that Holly won't give her false ideal of family.

yet, I couldn't wait to get to the end. It was fun until the end.

I would recommend to who loves romance and second chances.

Let me start out by saying that I really like Jack, the male lead here. I had read "The Accidental Engagement" before reading this, and even with just the small glimpse you get of who he is, you can't help but like him. In this book, you get to know him for more than just an intelligent playboy and see him for who he actually is: a sweetheart who is also funny and sexy.

This story has one of my favorite type of male leads: the guy who sells himself short and doesn't realize how awesome he is. I suppose that's referred to as the "beta male." I am a sucker for underdogs, so this really works for me! His humor and sweetness conjured up the image of James Marsden.

I felt Holly wasn't quite as developed as Jack was, so I mostly rooted for them because I liked Jack so much and they seemed like a good fit. She's still a solid character that is very likable, however. She felt, amusingly enough, similar in disposition to Holly Golightly in "Breakfast at Tiffany's," but with more sass.

The sexual chemistry was electric between these characters, and the way their romance grows really works. There was no doubt that a solid foundation of friendship is built first and the bonding is sweet. There were many 'moments' between them that will make you smile, and the heat between the characters is all the better for it.

I was impressed with the fact that Maggie Dallen chose her catalyst for wanting to "settle down" to be a miscarriage (worth noting here that it is merely mentioned and is unlikely to make anyone uncomfortable). As common as miscarriages are, they rarely come up and it was nicely handled here.

All of that said, this does seem a bit predictable and while this can easily be read as a standalone novel, the reader will get more out of this if the first book is read. And, having read the first, that wouldn't be a hardship. ;)

I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the contemporary romance/romantic comedy genre. I look forward to the next book of the series!

My first book by by Maggie Dallen, The Accidental Boyfriend was a treat. I am going to grab the other book from the series and her other books to read ;).

This is the second book in the Chance Romance Series. I haven't read the previous book from the series, but I was able to follow the story pretty well. The characters from the first book Ivy and Daniel do make an appearance in this book, as well.

Now, I requested the book after seeing the cover and fell for the description - who doesn't love an accidental boyfriend ;)? This is the story of Holly who thinks she is in-love and wants to settle down with her best friend (Benjamin) and ex-boyfriend / high school sweetheart. She is adventurous and wants to change it and get people take her seriously, by settling down with the safe, reliable and predictable Benjamin.

Now, enter Jack, a playboy, Maggie's sister Ivy's best friend and a sexy businessman. They had a sexy encounter at Ivy's wedding and now he's followed her to Paris, the city of love, where she has gone following Benjamin, who isn't in Paris, France but Paris, Texas! Though Jack and Holly are attracted to each other, they decide they can't act on it considering things would get awkward when they meet up regularly at Ivy's place.

But life's best plans doesn't just pan out for anyone, does it? They agree for a casual affair when Holly's plan did not pan well and she's falling for the commitment phobic Jack. What will happen now? Will the accidental boyfriend become the real-one or will Benjamin and Holly settle?

I loved their journey and enjoyed this fairly short read. I would have preferred Benjamin not stringing Holly along, but I guess it happens when two people think they will end up with each other when time is right! A sweet, romantic and enticing read, set in the backdrop of Paris.

**3.5 Fiery Hearts!**

*I received an ARC of this book free from Kensington Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Holly is fun and caring, but she definitely has something wrong with her head because the scenario she's mapped out as her wannabe life is just plain insane. I mean it's like she's trying to put the square peg in the round hole. She may want the two point five kids and the white picket fence, but sometimes things happen on their own and cannot be forced no matter how hard you try.

Jack is something else. It's almost like he's addicted to Holly, but doesn't want to admit it...not even to himself. He's the first one to offer to help her, he's always right there when she needs him, and he'll make the ultimate sacrifice for her in order to give her exactly what she wants.

"You should be with someone who thinks you're amazing just the way you are. You should be with me."

The Accidental Boyfriend is book two and I honestly think that although it can be read as a standalone that you read book one, The Accidental Engagement, first. I personally did not read it first and although I could put the pieces together there's a lot of references to what happened in the book one that left me wishing I'd read it.

There are some funny situations Jack and Holly find themselves in for the pure and simple fact that they both act first and think later. The interactions Holly has with Mr. Right are awkward and make me dislike her a little more with each one. But the ending moment when everything comes together is both thoughtful and perfect.

My Favorite Awkward Moment: When Holly repays a favor by coming to Jack's rescue, although her rescue attempt turns into a lot more than she bargained for.

Holly's a reformed free spirit who's ready to settle down and live the ideal life everyone thinks she should. Jack's the male version of Holly except he's not ready to settle down for anything. Except maybe Holly.

I liked Jack. He's the quintessential carefree bachelor who's finally met the one woman who makes him consider giving up his current lifestyle because he knows what they could have together would be infinitely better. He sees nothing wrong with Holly. Her free spirit appeals to him.

Jack isn't what Holly believes she wants in a man. Her Mr. Perfect is the polar opposite of herself. The idea of Holly settling for someone so not like her made me wonder, "What's wrong with her?" Especially since he doesn't seem to have any interest in her whatsoever.

Jack and Holly's charade is a tried and true trope. Make believe is all fun and games until hearts come into the equation and confuses everyone. So it wasn't just putting on a believable show. It was reminding themselves that their pretend time was only for a while and it was a means to an end. Except, thank God, it wasn't.

I know that love happens differently for everyone. One person might find it in someone who's the opposite of them while another will find it someone who's the same as them. The heart knows what it wants. Allowing it to lead instead of your head is when a character often finds the most fulfillment. Jack and Holly began as pretend but they ended up being real. They appreciated each other instead of trying to change one another or for one another.

After being introduced to Jack and Holly in An Accidental Engagement, I was glad to see them get their own story.

Holly has impulsively jetted off to Paris, France in an effort to surprise Benjamin, the man she believes she should spend the rest of her life with. The problem is, he is at a conference in Paris, Texas, not France. When her sister Ivy realizes that Holly is in Paris with no phone or agenda, her friend Jack volunteers to go to Paris and track down Holly so that he can get her the message about the location mix-up.

When Jack tracks down Holly, the attraction that they felt at her sister’s wedding burns brighter than ever. Once Holly finds out that Benjamin doesn’t think that they have a future together, Holly and Jack give into their attraction and start what they believe will be a short-term, casual affair.

Circumstances get in the way, however, and soon Holly is posing as Jack’s girlfriend at a dinner with his brother and sister-in-law, made even more of a deal when his parents stop by. Having been known as a consummate playboy, Jack’s mother is thrilled that he seems to be finally committing. Holly has a hard time protecting her heart and she falls in love with Jack. But is her love enough to help Jack overcome his fear of commitment? Time will tell.

While I did enjoy this book very much, I didn’t feel the same connection to the main characters that I did in the earlier book. Overall, I would give this book a solid 4-star rating.

Book Review- The Accidental Boyfriend by Maggie Dallen

Holly wants to settle down and be stable. She believes her best friend Benjamin is the man for her. He doesn’t seem to be inclined to jump in that direction anytime soon. So Holly decides to take matters into her own hands. She follows him to Paris.
Jack can’t get Holly out of his mind. He volunteers to go the Paris to find her. It doesn’t take long to find her. She is shocked to see him and is confused about why he is here. They both believe they left the other behind previously. Now they are staying in the same penthouse and give into the sexual tension between them. However Holly wants stability, a family and a husband. Jack can’t do commitment. Of course feelings get involved and dreams aren’t always what they seem.
This book was just alright for me. I didn’t like Holly at all. She tried to make Benjamin love her. She was such a wild spirit, it was totally unbelievable that she would settle for someone like him. I liked her bravery to go where she wanted and do what she wanted. Then she kind of lost herself.
I liked Jack and Holly as a couple but couldn’t really connect with them. Holly annoyed me too much. It was hard to get passed her flightiness. Jack was more real to me. He was broken a bit where family issues made him doubt himself. He is the reason I was able to finish the book. I wanted to see what he did. I give this book a 3 out of 5

I am excited to have found a new author to add to my favorites list. I loved this book. It was a quick, sweet, and enjoyable read. Jack and Holly both started out flighty and so unsure of themselves. I enjoyed watching their growth and nailing down what they really wanted in life but staying true to their free spirit personalities. I loved the sections with Jack's point of view. His internal dialogue often made me laugh. Although I sometimes wanted to shake Holly I could see where she was coming from. She had been through something traumatic and was just a little mixed up with her dreams. She just needed a guy like Jack to help her sort them out. They were a good match for each other and I was happy this see them come together. This book was the second in the series and can be read as a stand alone but I think it would have been even better had I read the first book before this one. I think it would have given me a little better insight into the characters. I am looking forward to picking up "The Accidental Engagement" which is the first book. It sounds like a fun read. I'm also excited about Lucia's book which is the next in the series. All in all a pleasant, quick, read that I really enjoyed.

I got this book from net gallery for an honest review.

This book was definitely a good read and I enjoyed it.

I haven't read the first book in this series but you get the gist of what happens in the first in regards to Holly and Jack sharing an intense, passionate moment. Holly is drawn to Jack but she wants Ben who is her best friend.

When Ben says he's going Paris, she attempts to make a romantic gesture by flying out to Paris. However, she ends up in the wrong Paris. Jack comes to find her and their attraction brings them closer.

Both have their own insecurities and issues: jack feels that's he's a failure at everything whereas, Holly's infatuation with Ben is consuming her - especially when Ben doesn't reciprocate her feelings.

Lots of funny moments in the book and I liked the chemistry between Holly and Jack. However, halfway through the book, I started getting really annoyed with Holly and her one way infatuation. I think the issue with Ben and Holly should have been settled a lot sooner. I didn't understand her infatuation with Ben, and her reasons for being with him didn't make sense either. I loved Jack, he was funny but I wish I could have understood Holly, I found her confusing and frustrating.

Quick Summary: Quirky and awkward

Review: The Accidental Boyfriend was a rather difficult read for me. I had to push myself a few times to keep going. It was hard to connect with the characters, especially the female lead. I did not like her wish washy tendencies. It seemed like she was so busy trying to prove herself that she lost who she was. She came across as inconsistent and flaky. Regarding Jack, I could not see how someone so brilliant could be so clueless when it came to knowing self.

A few other things that made this story funky (for want of a better word)...
- Robert's resentment toward his brother was totally misplaced.
- The expectation of Jack's parents, regarding his relationship status, was weird.
- Benjamin's "best friend" status was at odds with his demonstrations toward Holly.
