Best modern guide I've found. No stories about the joys of living in the backwoods, complicated carpentry, or out of date suggestions about mail forwarding services. Simple step by step instructions using easily obtained items from Wal-Mart or Amazon. I can't wait to buy my used Minivan and get started.
Mini RV Camper or a short term Tiny House On Wheels {THOW}
Not only does he show a reasonable build, but the author demonstrates with his own van. At the back of the book he lists prices for everything that he showed in the build.
This book and the one by "Robert Wells" titled "How To Live In A Car, Van or RV -- And Get Out Of Debt, Travel And Find True Freedom" gives you the opportunity to be part of the America that our ancestors knew and loved rather than be just another cog in the system.
In some respects, I wish I had these 2 books when I was working. Some of the work -a-rounds that these two authors are better than what I came up with on the spot
This booklet would be a good starting point for the curious mind who just wants a list of the main things they'd need to easily convert a minivan to a micro camper and why they need them. For anyone who has already researched the topic, there's nothing new here. What bothered me is that the booklet was basically click bait. There's a section towards the back that is literally just a list of all the suggested items with their affiliate links. I'm happy I borrowed this through Amazon's Unlimited books program, because if I had actually paid for it, I wouldn't be a happy camper.
Practical cost-effective information anyone can use
Makes me want to buy a minivan and get cracking! This is a guide for those on a budget and no particular building skills. Or gives you the option of getting started before making permanent changes to your van. He advised using bungee cords to keep everything in place while on the road. While this will surely work, I would have liked info on how to anchor items with screws or bolts, and perhaps build a bunk. But the author has first hand experience that is presented in a clear and well-organized fashion. Recommended.
Clearly I didn't pay enough attention to the title. I had thought this was going to cover other vans as well. It doesn't cover anything other then mini vans. It is short and super basic. Hopefully I can get a refund.
This was the only time I have bought a Kindle book without reading the sample first. Don't make that mistake. Read the sample and make sure it is the right book for you.
I just happened to have bought a high-end mini-van (my 2nd) and have been drooling over the idea of rv-ing. Initially thought about a "skoolie" conversion but I'm too old to do that kind of work anymore. This type of set-up I can do and really get to enjoy (AND afford!!) And still come out ahead.
Succinct and to the point. Best of all, the author included measurements and product reviews and guidelines to ensure we bought the right-sized components on the first trip to the store for cots, containers, and travel appliances. The pictures made it easy to envision our final product. The costs were far less than I expected.
This is a quick read with some great ideas on how to get the most out of camping in your minivan. I have done a lot of tent camping when I go to the races. However, when it’s cold, rainy and windy the tent is miserable. I thought about getting a little RV or trailer but camping in a minivan is so much easier and practical.
Excellent item by item with pictures and where to buy it and for how much with links to their websites. This guy obviously lived and traveled using this setup and includes where to park and where to camp and how to take advantage of it all. Nothing left out.
This is perfect if you want cheap simple and quick conversation. Gets to the point with no fluff. Also thanks for the pictures, purchase locations and price. I'm going to try this before putting out big money on a more permanent option. I'm not sure travel is going to suit me as much as I hope.
This guide is so practical and useful. William says exactly what we need and how to use it. He explains his choices and everything is so useful! He's researched everything and has the best products for the job. I'm so glad I bought this book. I'm almost ready to go!
Covers all the basics well that are needed to just toss essentials in a Sienna and go overnighting, but doesn’t get into actually covering a conversion, so think the title’s misleading. Still, as review is titled, this covers essentials for a newbie just wanting to get started by setting up to overnight in the Sienna.
If you like to camp like I do, and want to do it on the cheap, this book gives you a good guideline. You can adjust things to your liking and improve on his suggestions.
He is spot on with his recommendations and advise! Anyone will be able to do this and be comfortable! I would recommend this book to anyone who has even the remotest idea of mini van camping
This book tells you about everything that you need (all the specific products) to camp in your minivan, and nothing that you don't need. This would be a very basic way to camp (without solar panels, winter insulation, etc.), but it'll work.
Good info. It's basically common sense; stuff that most experienced campers or rv-ers would know or knew. He has summarized and collated it for the (forgetful or new) camper/reader. Also sources and recommends materials & supplies.
