Quill and Ink… is divided into seven sections entitled Inspirational, Motivational, Creative, Antiquity, Cats, Short Stories and Creative Visualization. In each section the author seeks to share her inner most thoughts, life experiences and guidance with the reader in these areas.
The first stanza of the first poem, Thoughts, is a good introduction to the content and context of this book.
“Thoughts come in massive crowds.
I see them as clumps of clouds.
Some are dark, angry, forbidding.
Others are light, airy, forgiving.”
The section entitled Motivational, begins with an interesting piece on the importance of the human factor in achieving writing success. The author provides guidance on all aspects of the writing, editing and proofreading process in the context of the central theme of the necessary and vital human factor.
The following stanza from a poem called Light and Color in the section headed Creative stands out in my mind:
“The rays of sun and reflection
Create splashes of color selected
By the hands of gods and goddesses
That no artist with brushes
Could duplicate on canvas
In oils, pastels, or elements”
The Short Stories section includes some delightful tales about unexpected discoveries of unknown ancestral roots and people regressing and experiencing a short period in an ancestors life. These stories are beautifully written and provide plenty of food for thought in the context of the paranormal and ancient myths and stories.
