Can he hide his heart or will the reporter take everything? Maryn Howe isn’t intimidated by billionaire recluse, Tucker Shaffer, or his enormous log cabin in Island Park, Idaho. Maryn needs this interview and she’ll get it at any cost, even if the last four reporters were physically removed from his presence. Tucker Shaffer has no desire to change his less than flattering public image; but his PR people persuade him to give it one more try. Ready to make nice with whoever comes through the door, Tucker is blindsided by a petite blond with an extra-large personality. As the snow piles up and the questions keep coming, Maryn discovers the secret Tucker Shaffer has spent the last four years torturing himself with. She suddenly sees him in a new light and she flees—right into danger and into Tucker’s arms. But the danger has just begun and now Maryn has to make a choice—trust in Tucker or lose it all.

For a clean, light, sweet romance, this is OK read for me. This is also my first read by Miss Checketts. The Feisty One, like other clean sweet romance, has a mediocre plot, very light plot. Min angst. Min layers/ complexion.
But the romance between Tucker and Maryn is just sweet. No foul word, no offensive swearing, no steamy descriptive sex, but yet it is very very sweet. I think there is an aspect of Beauty and the Beast on it.
*Happy Sigh* Yeah, I Loved The Feisty one!!!! I just finished reading The Protective One(another book later in the series than this one) and thought I'd found a favorite in the series. Sorry Protective One, but you've been knocked down to the #2 slot! Still good but The Feisty One has beat you out of the top spot.
This is a little Beauty and the Beast-esque. But has it's own little spin offs and plenty of fun, romance, danger, beasts, and a fair maiden. I've read the preview for this several times as well as many of my GR friends love of it and I finally read it. What took me so long????????
If you haven't read this series or know anything about it, this is for you. A group of friends meet at girl's camp, make a silly pact to marry billionaires or they'll have to sing the camp song(apparently it's pretty embarrassing) at their wedding in front of all the guests with no explanation as to why they are singing out. Each girl gets her own book and not every girl gets a billionaire for a groom. So you have to read to find out which girls do and don't. So far I have read more than half and have loved the personalities of all the girls and their fellow grooms. Great cast of characters that continue to show up throughout the series. I love that we don't just see them for one book, get to love them, and then they're gone. The Protective One, which I read just prior to this, had all the main characters in it that are from The Feisty One. I loved seeing these heroes/heroines at different stages in their relationships.
Maryn is a very feisty lady so the title fits perfectly. She is asked to come interview recluse billionaire Tucker so he can have some good PR. He's a recluse and for good reason. Maryn arrives and gets quite a few shocks all at once. Many good and some a little scary. In true B&B fashion, the beauty flees from the beast. Without spoiling anything, Maryn ends up hurt and needs to heal at Tucker's home. Will either of them recover from their troubles? Or will they continue to be hurt and never find their true happiness?
There are several beasts throughout this book(literally and figuratively) and Maryn must sort them out if she is ever going to be safe. Yes there is danger and intrigue throughout the book. I loved the twists and turns and plot surprises. They fit the story so well and had me turning the pages super fast. I was actually on my treadmill yesterday going for a long walk(weather was bad and sick kiddos home from school kept me inside) prepping for a summer trip and so I had plenty of time to read and read and read while walking...forever. ;-) I was pretty engrossed in the story that I lost total track of time and finished the book and ended up walking longer than planned. Can we say Two Birds With One Stone? Hee Hee!
I loved the characters, I loved the storyline, I loved the different settings the author took us on. I love Cami's books! If you haven't read anything by her, I highly recommend picking them up. I think she usually has one for free on Amazon if you aren't sure if you want to try one, and I believe she has several(if not all) on Kindle Unlimited.
The romance was very sweet and very swoony! Two great MCs who have sparks from the get go of their initial meeting. It's pretty humorous watching(ok reading about) them trying to navigate their emotions and the insecurities they both have. The "castle staff" characters were pretty funny as they watched and commented on Tucker and Maryn as well. I loved the humor and romance combined together, it was perfect.
Content: Clean. Some attacks but nothing graphic or sexual(don't want to spoil it by giving the details). Maryn is hurt and sleeps in Tucker's bed while everyone is caring for her. He sleeps by her one night but above the covers and only to support her laying comfortably in her healing. Swoony kisses scattered throughout.
I received a copy through a promotion, no review was required, all thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
Beauty and the Beast is one of my all-time fairy tales and this one had that kind of a vibe. Maryn is a reporter for a magazine and is finally granted an interview with recluse billionaire, Tucker. She has to go to his mansion of a log cabin in Island Park to do so, which proves to be quite dangerous--in more ways than one.
Cami Checketts is one of my favorite authors in the romantic suspense genre and this story has just the right amount of romance, peril, danger, attraction, and suspense. When you mix that in with a fantastic romance and great characters, it makes for a great read--one that I devoured in about a day.
Maryn is very feisty and I love a character who isn't easy intimidated. She adds some sass to the story, which really reaches in and touches Tucker's cold heart. I adored her character and spunk. As for Tucker, who can resist a big, growly, gorgeous man? He's more bark, than bite, and I can to love him and his generosity and protectiveness. He's got a quirky staff and I loved how they each reminded me of the Beast's help. The friendship is heartwarming. There are twists that I didn't see coming, romance that made me swoon, and an unexpected resolution to a charming tale! Loved it and I can't wait for more!
Content: no language; mild religious elements; mild violence; mild romance (kissing, spending a night together with nothing happening); no language. Clean!
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review*
Maryn is a feisty little reporter who knows just how to get the story she is after. When her assignment takes her to Island Park, Idaho to the famous recluse, Tucker, she definitely has her work cut out for her since the last 4 reporters to ever step foot on his property were physically removed. Maryn just has to be herself and hope for the best. After all, who can resist her feisty charm?
Tucker is a recluse that is wrestling with demons. He has a hard time trusting anyone outside of his close circle of friends. When his PR team pretty much makes him do an interview with Maryn, he will do his very best to get her in and out of his house without giving too much away. When he meets Maryn for the first time, she is not like any woman he has ever met before. She is snarky, warm and very beautiful. Tucker is intrigued from the very start. But how will Maryn react if she ever finds out the truth about what he has done? Will she ever be able to love and trust him? Or will she run in the opposite direction, far away from him?
For those of you that know me, know that I am a complete sucker for any Beauty and the Beast type of stories. I was ecstatic to realize that The Feisty One was a modern day retelling with a few twists thrown in. I seriously LOVED this book and devoured it in less than a day! It was the perfect read after a hard week. I enjoyed getting lost in all things Maryn and Tucker.
Ms. Checketts has done it again! She has definitely become an auto-buy author for me! I am loving this series and cannot wait for the next one to come out! If you haven't started this series yet, then I suggest you do! It's been a lot of fun so far!
And no... I did not forget about my casting! I think this is another favorite of mine! Hehe. What do you think?!
Maryn Howe is a reporter who doesn't plan to leave Island Park, Idaho without getting an interview with the reclusive billionaire Tucker Shaffer, and she doesn't plan to only ask him the standard questions. Tucker Shaffer thinks he's prepared for this exclusive interview his PR people have set up to improve his public image, until he meets Maryn Howe, who's only petite in height. She says exactly what she's thinking and throws him off his game. I thought of the Beauty and the Beast similarities before the character of Maryn brought it up. A huge home way out in the middle of nowhere, Mama Porter, Braxton and Johnson being the only other people living there besides Tucker, who's a recluse. An innocent and feisty woman who comes around, but gets scared then runs blindly out in the snowstorm, only to be attacked by an animal and end up being rescued by the man who scared her and caused her to run out into the storm in the first place. I loved this story and liked both of the main characters. Tucker is a good man who's haunted by his past which is why he's shut himself away for the past 4 years. He and his trusted friends have become a family and I loved that aspect of the book, as I have friends that have become family. Poor Maryn was so taken with the big, handsome man she couldn't quit saying aloud everything she was thinking and I found it hilarious. I could feel the chemistry between Tucker and Maryn as soon as they met and loved how he took care of her after she was injured. I found it funny how he was scared of Mama Porter. There was an unexpected twist involving her friend and editor, James, who I never really liked. This is only my second Billionaire Bride Pact book but it's my favorite so far. I received this book free when I signed up for the author's newsletter, but that didn't influence my feelings about the book.
I'm really loving the books in this series. This is the third one that I've read and it was so fun. I love Cami Checketts so it was no surprise that I loved this book. She has a gift for writing easy flowing dialogue and romance that grows naturally.
Maryn is spunky and lively. She feels like a fun person to be around. Tucker is a tortured soul, desperate to find acceptance and relief from the burden of guilt he carries. It's an interesting combination of personalities. This book had such a Beauty and Beast kind of feel to it. I love Beauty and the Beast! Even the housekeeper will remind you of Mrs. Potts.
This is a clean romance. It left me with warm fuzzies in my heart and a smile on my face.
Loved this story, and the characters. It remained clean, and no cussing. With a tiny bit of prayer/forgivenesses thrown in. I love finding authors I feel I can trust! I will read many more from this author.
I hate love triangles and do not liked the way the characters behaved. She started the romance with the main character while she was still with this other guy, I consider this cheating and lack of consideration of the feelings of the other person you are apparently in a relationship with, she erred in it regardless of the attitudes of this other guy at the end.
Maryn is a spunky down to earth girl. Her job as a reporter takes her to the home of the reclusive billionaire, Tucker Shaffer. From the moment they meet the attraction is evident. While Maryn may have made a pact to marry a billionaire as a young girl, it really wasn't her motivation in finding a husband.
Tucker frightens and becomes her hero within a short period of time. He has a past that he would like to remain hidden while she wants to find out everything she can about him.
One of the things that I like about Cami Checketts writing is that she adds an element of suspense to her stories that works out well. I like her writing style and how she portrays her characters. She makes them believable, even though they may be in circumstances that are not ordinary.
This is the third book of the Billionaire Bride Pact Romances that I have read. I have not been disappointed in any of them. This is as series that I will seek out and continue reading. When I think about ladies searching for a billionaire to marry, I immediately think of someone shallow, but the characters have had depth and goodness.
The Feisty One: A Billionaire Bride Pact Romance Book 3 is by Carri Checketts and Jeanette Lewis. This book continues the stories of the twelve young girls who signed a pact to marry a billionaire or sing the camp song at her wedding. Although they are somewhat predictable in that the girl gets the guy in most of them, how they get to that end is different and exciting. Maryn Howe was a reporter who was sent by her editor, James, to interview Tucker Shaffer who does not give interviews nor has allowed media into his home. He has agreed to do this interview with Maryn. She has driven to his home way out in the boonies. It even seems like a mile from the gate to his house. What a house it is! She can’t wait to get inside and see the house. However, she has to face Tucker. Tucker Shaffer does not like giving interviews. Ironically, he had invented Friend Zone, a social media site. His PR ratings were down and he had given into his PR team to do this interview. Just because he agreed didn’t mean he had to make it easy for the reporter. Once the two meet, the fur flies and continues to fly throughout the book. It is such fun to read.
*Satisfied sigh* I really liked this one. Tucker was super sweet, loveable with a few skeletons in his closet. Maryn was also a great character. She was spunky and fun with a zest for life which made her perfect for Tucker. I loved their story so much. Braxton, Mama Porter & Johnson were cute side characters also.
I just wish Maryn had been honest with James earlier, instead of dragging out the inevitable and giving him false hope. Nonetheless, light, quick and enjoyable read.
Content: Clean, Some Kissing, Mild Violence, Mild Language, Mild Religions aspect (talks of prayer, god, going to church).
The Feisty One is a fun and whirlwind story about Maryn a reporter, and Tucker the billionaire. The two meet when Maryn interviews Tucker at his cabin in Idaho. The story starts out with sparks and a bang from the get-go! It grabbed my attention and held it until I finished the story at midnight! I loved the twists, turns, and the gentleman that Tuck was. Maryn was so fun and refreshing as a main character! She said what she thought without reservation! I truly enjoyed every single second of this story, I was only sad when it was done! If you want a clean romance with plenty of sparks and a new book boyfriend, then The Feisty One is just the book for you! It is full of surprises and crazy things I will not spoil for you! It is a romantic adventure that I am really glad I took part in! I received a copy of this book for free, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tucker Shaffer is a recluse billionaire with some secrets. Maryn Howe is a reporter who is determined to find out those secrets and write a story about Tuck and his secrets. After Tuck scares Maryn half to death after she found some pictures that told her what those secrets were, she ran out into a terrible snow storm. While speeding away from Tucker's house she spins out of control and crashes. What she doesn't know until it's too late is that a bear has been spotted on the property. While trying to find the gate out of the place the bear finds and attacks Maryn. Will Tuck get to her in time? Something else is also going on with Maryn's editor/semi-boyfriend. If Maryn survives the bear attack, will she be out of danger? Will Tucker?
his Billionaire Bride Pact Series is so scrumptious! I love reading clean romance and especially Cami's because her little dashes of suspense really heighten the tension in the story. The Feisty One was a great love story in that Maryn and Tucker were so diverse with great backgrounds and lots of experiences that kept me turning the pages to get to know these characters. I love how when I thought things were wrapping up nicely, everything changed and allowed for even more excitement and romance in the story. This is a fun, fast read with a touching romance that is tastefully clean!
I hate love triangles. I used to think they were the worst plot point ever, until I read this book and decided the messed up romanic situation in this book is by far much worse. Not only is there a love triangle but the heroine isn't intrested at all in one side of this "triangle" and he becomes creepy unstable and obsessive as the plot continues to putter along without hope. The heroine OF COURSE is oblivious to all of this and doesn't want to tell him that they have no chance in hell because she'll lose his "friendship". I never want to read anything like this EVER again.
Fun read! I sat down to read a couple of chapters and ended up reading the whole thing! Really drew me in. I was worried the characters were going to be a little whiny because of their childhoods but they were actually very positive and I liked their attitudes. Maryn and Tuck were both great and I enjoyed their whirlwind. My only complaint... James! What the what?? No idea what was going on with that dude. Yeesh.
This is the second of three books in this series that I have read on Kindle. What I like: There is good and interesting dramatic elements that are usually found in HEA stories. What I would like: is simply more. More pages, maybe slightly more depth to the characters, or anything to make it last longer. It was over so quickly.
It sounds like there is the potential of many more stories in the series, and I wouldn't hesitate to read them.
I loved this book! Maryn reminds me of myself. I am very outspoken and like to take charge! I power through stuff even when it's hard. Tuck and Maryn's story was so shocking at first but then sweet at the same time. I fall in love with all of the characters in Cami's books! I CAN NOT WAIT to read more in this series. Another of my favorite parts had to be seeing my name in a book even though she probably wasn't really named after me. ;) Great job Cami as always!

I totally loved this story! Tucker is rich but not a loud in your face rich. I liked him and how it took care of his friends. Maryn is a character too. She puts her mouth in gear without thought. I liked that there was an action mystery with James. He really seems slimy to me. The bear and dog are just another interesting part of the overall story. Maryn did a good job of picking her forever man! The story was an interesting read.
I love clean romances and this one had a lot of fun parts! It starts off with a bang with a huge revelation and then a bear attack! It even throws in some druggies, a murder charge, and a jealous wanna-be-boyfriend. Maryn and Tucker definitely don't have an easy road, but they sure are cute together!
I loved this book! I'm finding that I really enjoy Cami Checketts' books, and this one was no exception. She does a great job of writing cute and sweet romances with just enough action/suspense to keep it interesting. I also love that I can trust her romance books to stay clean without losing any of those swoon-worthy moments :)
I was down with a bug and started reading this. I forgot to be miserable and how awful I felt. This fast moving story kept me entertained and I couldn't put it down. Enjoyed the story, the characters, and the plot. Great entertainment!
This was an interesting book. It was twist on beauty and the beast in modern times. Without deeply going into the fairytale. It was it's one story. Really well done.
