Two outsiders with potentially deadly chemistry and a deadline for pregnancy! A dangerous bad boy with expensive secrets and an urgent need to become a father. A curvy, loner private eye with a secret of her own. A shared past loaded as an assassin's gun — and time running out.
Ariel Finding Cole was more than a job. This case would mean survival. But I wasn't prepared for how seeing him again would make me feel. How could I get a man that big and deadly to cooperate?
Cole I'd left everything in the past and found one thing I was good at, the dangerous secret thing that mattered to me more than anything. Ariel knocked my world sideways. As soon as I saw her again, I knew I'd do anything to take her — no matter how hard she tried to keep me out.
This is a dark, gritty, unprotected erotic romance with consequences. This is a standalone novella -- no cliffhanger. Don’t even look inside this book unless you want to be exposed to a killer bad boy alpha who goes after what he wants with all his power!

3.5 stars short story with some action, very mild violence and definitely some steam with a strong male!
Thug by Viv Phoenix is the first book I’ve read by this author and overall, it was a good book. The book is short story and contains some action, very mild violence and definitely some steam with a strong male!
Told using both Ariel and Cole’s points of views, Thug moves at a very quick pace, told only over one night, but what makes the story work enough for a short book is the fact the characters knew each other and they weren’t complete strangers, even though several years have passed. We get enough history to fill you in but without it being too much. Their is a clear connection between the two characters from the start and the author’s style of writing manages to draw you in with teasing references to the pasts of both characters that slowly unravels as the book moves on.
Thug is relatively well written and there was a clear enough plot with two lead characters who had just enough about them (although, obviously, they aren’t developed too much as the book length doesn’t allow it). The epilogue and HEA rounds off the story, although I did feel the end of the book and epilogue seemed a bit extreme, especially the end of the hotel scene considering it all happened over one night (won’t say what to avoid spoilers).
However, one thing that stopped me rating this book any higher than 3.5 stars (would have been 4 stars) was that there were a couple of small spelling/grammatical errors. I don’t like being negative but considering it’s set over such a short time frame, small details can be key. One error that really bugged me was about her shoes as Cole makes reference, ‘I’d get her some shoes as soon as she felt like shopping.’ then not long after Ariel states, ‘Smiling, he slid down the bed and took off my shoes …’. It’s not a major issue but niggled me when reading because the small details can make the difference between a good book and a great book in my opinion.
If you are looking for a short, simple, easy to read, gritty kind of romance and can enjoy a bit of unrealism / make believe for the sake of a HEA, then I would say give this book a try.

Ariel a licensed P.I. is sent by Cole's mother to find him and bring the son she calls Thug back to take his place in his rich family after the death of his father. The story gets tense when the shooting starts after Ariel finds Cole. I love a hot guy, a curvy girl and lots of action to keep the story moving to a happy ending.
This short story was quite interesting. The ending was a bit of a stretch but overall a good read. The plot and characters are believable and enjoyable.
