What happens in the Bahamas should stay in the Bahamas. That was the plan, until the woman Ransom Stewart hooked up with made an appearance at his law firm. He knows he should stay away from her. He knows he should leave her alone. But for some reason, he can’t.
Revenge sex. That’s what Sophie Bradshaw told herself the night with Ransom was all about. One night, to punish her boyfriend for years of neglect that culminated in a painful betrayal. She knows she should stay away from Ransom. She knows she should leave him alone. But for some reason…she can’t.

I loved everything about this book except the fact that neither Ransom or Sophie had the courage to take from life what they really wanted! Ransom no longer loves being a lawyer but is afraid to follow his real dream. Sophie would rather stay with her sleazy, cheating boyfriend than take a chance on soul satisfying love. They both need to "man" up!
Warning: if you don't like stories about people who cheat, then you won't like this one. Sophie's boyfriend cheats on her. Their relationship was already strained due to him not being fully in the relationship but she was willing to work it out. She goes to the Bahamas. Has "revenge" sex with Ransom. But boyfriend decides he's going to change his ways and make Sophie his #1 priority. Sophie forgives him and decides to give their relationship a chance all the while she continues lusting after Ransom and emotionally and physically cheating on her boyfriend, Keith. Sophie does have guilt and I understand that. I don't have an issue with how her relationship with Ransom started. If my boyfriend cheated on me I'd probably have revenge sex as well. What I didn't like was that Sophie continued to force her way into Ransom's life and when he would show interest in her, she'd get mad at him and pull the "I have a boyfriend" card. That was annoying. All she had to do was stay away but of course she couldn't do that.
Overall I enjoyed this book and the series. It was nice catching up with the characters from the previous books and getting a peek into their lives.
4th book in bi-racial series. Ransom Stewart and Sophie Bradshaw. Sophie has been off again boyfriend for years. She finally catches him cheating and leaves him. She goes to the Bahamas on vacation and meets Ransom Stewart. They spend the whole vacation together thinking of it as just a fling. When they get back to their normal lives they find out that the boyfriend is Ransom boss's son. He is trying to get Brenda back, while now Brenda has feelings for Ransom and he has serious feelings for her. In the mix of all this Ransom has been toward becoming a partner in his law firm.

I don't know how I missed this one and I like this series. Books #1&2 remain my favorite with #3 being the one that hit some of the best emotional punches but was too much story for novella length.
This one was a nice down the middle romance with two great protags who were chemical and had a believable conflict.
This latest installment in the Unexpected series was as good a read as the others. I especially enjoyed how Jay and Brenda and Shawna and Ryan from two other books in the series are important characters in this book. They created a flow from one book to another, but not enough of a tie to leave the reader lost if they haven't read the first three installments. My favorite line in the story is when Sophie exclaims " You chose me". That was the clincher of the entire struggle presented in this book. Everyone wants to be important to someone and needs to have a place of importance. Can't wait for the next installment.
2.5 stars (I'm rounding up) because of the whole love triangle theme. I find it so frustrating when (in this case) the heroine chooses to stay with a man who cheated on her, ignored her, who dated her for 3 years and never even mentioned her existence to his parents instead of exploring something new with another man. And that goes on for most of the story. Out of The Love Unexpected series, so far book 2 "The Wrong Man" blows all the others out of the water.
Great Read! I loved this book from beginning to end. Ransom and Sophie's story kept me entertained from beginning to end and kept me reading.I started and finished this book the day I downloaded it. This is a perfect book for a day of relaxing with some time on your hands to read. I have read other works and Ms. Diamond and she never disappoints.
So this is an audiobook and hard to tell but I got about halfway through and ... no. DNF.
I wasn't in love with Sophie from the previous book(s) in the series I listened to - can't remember if it was one or two.
First ... so I've been zone-ey but I c... it kinda seemed like Sophie wasn't on a break or anything with Keith - she was getting "revenge sex" in the Bahamas - so I can't tell if she cheated or not. I do know Keith showed up ...
But ... I didn't like that Sophie just ... gets back together with Keith. I mean WHY?! I'd really thought after what Tomas said to her she'd also wake up - it seemed like Keith had cheated on her a LOT not just with the one waitress... But then with Ransom and Sophie being a mess. ...
And then Keith like coercing Sophie into sex and/but her thinking of Ransom the whole time ... It was just uncomfortable and unpleasant and no.
I should've just listened to my first instinct and kept this book unread. Instead I spent hours on it and I'm sad I wasted that time - I've got this cringe/ew face on just thinking about it and writing this review and I feel physically uncomfortable and slightly sick.
*sigh* So not the book for me. I'm also really sad my Delaney Diamond binge ended on this note. :\
I really liked this book. The chemistry between Ransom (cool name, by the way) and Sophie was phenomenal. The passion was off the charts.
And I got the overall premise of the book: Do what you truly love.
But that being said something about Ransom giving up his lifelong career bothered me. Yes, he was not happy doing what he did for a living even though it gave him everything he wanted, yes he desired to do something else but WHY couldn't he do both? Why did it have to be either OR with her? That's why I couldn't give this book 5 stars and OH I wanted to. The chance meeting, the "hot spots" (what I call sex scenes) were just OMG, OMG, OMG.
Sophie was a little immature at times (what he did for a living required his ALL; you don't get to where he got by half-assing it), and the way she kept fighting their attraction once they got back to their normal lives was making me chew my bottom lip off, but overall she was a good character.
But I must say THIS: In the restaurant when Ransom realized she was dating a colleague of his (the colleague got up to take a phone call) and they were questioning each other whether they had told anyone else about what they did. She said no, but he said, "I mentioned it to a friend" and she said what did you say and he said "I told them we just FUCKED."
I would have taken my glass of water or whatever I was drinking and popped him in the forehead with the glass and split his head open. Sorry, I had to get that out.
I'm reading the whole series not necessarily in book order. For this book - I bought both the ebook and the audiobook. I'm not sure which brother I like more Ryan or Ransom. They both are messy when it comes to meeting Ms. Right. Ryan's book is book 1 and what got me hooked on finishing the series.
This book starts with Ransom being a protector for Sophie. They hit it off and have a fun night/next day together then must go their separate ways. How they meet again had my jaw dropping and feet wiggling. I really like this story because it had a story, drama not just insta-lust.
Some things I liked/disliked Dislike - Ransom displayed some anger management issues which I'm not sure got explained or resolved. May update after my second read/listen.
Like - One of the revelations Sophie had when it came to her relationship with Keith and it had nothing to do with falling for Ransom.
Like - The realness of the bathroom conversation with Jenna
Like -Interconnecting characters from other the books.
I usually don't like books with OM/OW involved when I'm invested in a romance.
I think I didn't feel as bad about it, because I "met" Sophie before this book and already knew what type of situation she was dealing with.
She and Ransom had amazing chemistry and man they were so hot when together. I loved how they just fit without even trying.
I will say I was disappointed with some decisions made , but overall I did love this story and felt gutted for everything Sophie had to endure to get to her HEA.
No one in this story was perfect, which made this all too real, but the characters were relatable and easy to like. Heck, Keith even managed to be a bit redeemed.
Another cute couple with good character definition and awesome chemistry. Nice story line, if Kelly me wondering just who would Sophie end up with. Both men were SOoooo much alike. I was beginning you wonder myself who was worth it. Though a sad revelation was,,, why did Sophie put up with those type of men at all?
Never let your heart trick you into settling for less than you deserve. It isn't worth it in the end. That's the primary takeaway I see in this well developed story. I couldn't stop reading.
One thing the author did correctly is merging characters from previous books in to this book. It was well written with likeable characters. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because it was predictable on my end.
Kudos on a book well written about relationships and true love. The relationship between Sofie and Ramsey was well written and heart wrenching. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Sophie and Ransom were both looking for love yet didn't understand that was what they wanted. It took a lot of backwards and forwards but in the end the timing proved to be just right. A pretty good read! Now on to Book #5.
I love stories that unexpectedly grab my attention and this one certainly did. Realistic, believable characters, a little angst along with a yummy alpha male......😍💞💞
Ready for the fifth art of this series. I enjoyed the story line and the tie in with the first three books. Easy to read and good themes, do not settle for less, money and prestige are not better than life and happiness.
This story truly fit the love unexpected title. The last thing Sophie and Ransom was a relationship where they end up madly in love. I'm starting book 5 now.
I am always excited by a new Delaney Diamond release, and ‘The Right Time’ more than delivered.
‘The Right Time’ tells the story of Ransom Stewart, a high-powered lawyer stuck in a treadmill of ambition as he seeks to make partner in the law firm, and Sophie Bradshaw, a stewardess struggling to sort her own conflicted feelings out in an unfulfilling rocky relationship.
Ransom is a handsome workaholic, with a touch of the bad boy player about him, and the last thing he was looking for on a trip down to the Bahamas was getting really caught up in a woman. A chance meeting on a flight thrusts Ransom in Sophie’s path, and nothing could have prepared either of them for the chemistry of that unexpected encounter.
Serendipity is a funny thing.
After a second unexpected re-connection everything between Sophie and Ransom seems destined to be. However, life is rarely that easy. Throw in a reappearance of Sophie’s high-powered boyfriend into the mix, along with other interesting twists, and the reader is hooked to see this one out!
The author’s use of dialogue is excellent throughout, as it drives forward the storyline, letting the characters come to life through their own personalities. Although the reader suspects what is coming, I enjoyed the twists and turns, as the author manages to add further layers of uncertainty and tension. This is clever writing, although I could have done without one of the extra high-points! It sure did get the reader impatient though, and frustrated with the toing and froing between Sophie and Ransom. I kept strategizing in my head and hoping for the HEA!
Delaney Diamond’s writing is modern, bold and adventurous. I especially like her use of international settings, mix of different cultures and varied backgrounds. She does this well, with sensitivity, without layering it on too thick.
Sophie’s bi-racial background, this time with a black highly intellectual dreadlocked father, and an open-minded ‘alternative-thinking’ white mother, is also a refreshing complement to the depth and breadth of maturity within the AA and IR genre. The author does a great job in speaking to and including this broader discourse.
So, another very cool, satisfying read, with the reappearance of some familiar characters, some hot scenes and nicely interwoven touches. Congrats Delaney Diamond, I really enjoyed and highly recommend, The Right Time!
Thanks for another great read! It took a minute to remember the other characters because it's been s while since I read the other books but I was glad to see them. I love how you give us updates! As much as I like Sophie, I think she was being a brat! I totally agree with her about Ransom not living his true passion but she wasn't being very supportive of what he wanted. Yeah he cancelled dates and was two hours late but all she thought about was her feelings. I didn't see Ransom treating her as an afterthought! The man was driven and all he asked was for her to on the high end of 70/30 and understand and be supportive. The man worked hard for the partnership, hell after taking the boss's son's girlfriend he could've been fired! But he loved her and wanted her no matter the fallout! So it wouldn't hurt her to support what he'd worked so hard to obtain! Did he need to let go over his past? Yes! Was he materialistic? Yes! But why work hard and make the money if you don't spend it on things you want? Sophie was good for Ransom no doubt! He was starting to loosen up. But instead of her supporting him and allowing him to realize for himself that the restaurant was what he should do, she bullies him with the ultimatum! She chose to use vinegar instead of sugar to make him see her point of view and when he didn't do what she thought he should do at that time he must didn't love her more than his career! I feel she was punishing Ransom for her not having a backbone and allowing Keith to treat her like a doormat! (Speaking of Keith; the typical, "I didn't appreciate the good woman I had but another man did!" syndrome). Overall, I loved it and because it made me want to reach through the pages and smack Sophie, it gets 5 stars! I love a book that makes me feel the characters are my friends. This series, most importantly this book has done just that!

EXCELLENT...thoroughly CAUGHT UP by Sophie and Ransom SENSUAL and magnetic attraction between these two is SIZZLING...Sophie's enjoyment and love of living life rubbed off on Ransom...she made him realize he wasn't TRULY happy and what he NEEDED to do to FINALLY be happy and start REALLY living instead of going through the motions...I also ENJOYED catching up w/other couples from the Love Unexpected series...looking forward to the next book!
I love this series! This story is about having a deep connection to a person AND realizing your self worth. Sophie had been dating someone who's a cheater. Although she only had knowledge of one such incident. This leaves the door open for someone else to enter. Ransom was basically a workaholic, driven to succeed due to negative comments made about him while he was a troubled kid. He had to prove them wrong. Therefore, he didn't make time for relationships. When the two of them met, there was a connection that neither of them realize was happening. This is more than a romance novel. It's about realizing your own self worth and walking/living in your passions. The two of them bought these qualities out in each other. When you think about it, that's what love is supposed to do. I'm a true fan of Ms. Delaney's. I don't always write reviews. I just feel compelled to always write for her work. I love all of her books. Although I haven't read the "clean" ones. Now I'm waiting for the next one in the Johnson Family series. You go girl! !
