Danovan tel’Darian is all of the above. He’s also an Alien. Will Ara Cross fall for him?
Dr. Araceli Cross has her reservations about leaving Earth for one of the colonies on the planet Galatea, but her medical and genetic expertise is required. Besides, it’s not like she’s going alone. Her fiancé—and head of the scientific research organization that employs her—will be there as well.
But all is not as it seems on the planet’s surface, nor as her devoted boyfriend would have her believe.
Upon a crash landing after an ambush attack, Ara is rescued by a gorgeous native named Danovan tel’Darian. Galatean in origin, he’s rippling with defined muscles that make him look as though he were carved out of stone.
Will Ara fall for Danovan… and turn everything she has come to know upside down?
*BONUS BOOK: This book contains Juniper Leigh's best selling Alien Sci Fi Romance, Alien Alpha: Qetesh Warrior included at the end of the book as a bonus!
Juniper Leigh is an erotica writer from New York City, eager to tell all. Her writing -- steamy and salacious though it may be -- is meant to empower women to explore the depths of their desires. She is a devoted feminist and she believes that ownership of what gets you off is a deeply affirming and empowering act (including when the thing that gets you off is submission). Orgasms are widely known to have lasting health benefits so, really, smut-writing is somewhat of a public service.
Juniper Leigh is a pen name, an alter ego, but the woman behind the name is just as committed to the written word. Plays, novels, short stories, articles -- she does it all. She holds an MFA from Columbia University and BA in Creative Writing from Sarah Lawrence College.
DNF at 45% - a bit too generic for my preference and I don’t care for any of these characters or the plot. Glad it was offered as a kindleunlimited though.
DNF. Could not care about any of the characters or the plot. The first part of this book is all about a relationship the heroine is having with a man other than the hero. So I don't care. This is boring.
This review is for "Alien Survivor: Stranded on Galatea" and not the bonus book as I haven't gotten through it yet.
This was pretty good but it had it's faults. I'll deviate from my typical reviews and tell you what I liked and what I didn't like:
Pro's: 1. The writing style I very much enjoyed for the most part. The author has a great vocabulary yet I never felt like she grabbed a thesaurus to periodically change words to make herself seem more smart as some authors do. 2. Worldbuilding was very interesting. The alien planet village was very well described and I really felt like I was in that place in my head. 3. Plot: Very interesting and pretty much what kept me reading. Some was a bit predictable but not all of it. There were some things that didn't make sense until the plot unfolded at the end. 4. I appreciated one of the relationship struggles the two MC's had at one point towards the ending of the book. It was refreshing for the most part but was a bit easily overcome.
Con's: 1. Sexy Times: If I recall correctly, every sex scene followed the same steps and positions. I ended up just skipping them after the same scene happened for the third time. Also, sometimes the author used very unsexy words that kind of killed the hotness of a scene. Nothing like "pounding into her orifice" to take one out of the moment, lol. 2. Communication Issues: We never really got a clear understanding of the technology on the alien planet though it was inferred that they were on the same if not higher level of tech as the human race was. There were so many times I wondered, why aren't there phones? Why doesn't everyone have a communication device of some sort? 3. Worldbuilding Lacking somewhat: Where are all the cars? How come the aliens on this planet seem to have no clue as to what has happened until the humans make an announcement days after a big and seemingly unable to miss event? 4. Insta-love: I wasn't convinced. It happened to quickly and sometimes I can buy into insta-love if it's well written but I don't think it was here. 5. Many inconsistencies and lack of information: There was one major reveal once these two hit Dude's village that should have been one of the first things mentioned to these two but wasn't- they just happened upon it in the village. That seemed odd to me. And again, there was so much about the alien world that was not even touched upon that it was hard to get a feel for their culture. 6. Epilogue was very brief and disappointing. Just a HFN.
Overall: as a free read on Kindle Unlimited, I recommend. I will be reading the second book included in this one but I felt like I needed to step away from this author from a bit so I can come in and read without the aftertaste of the first book. If that one is as decent as this one was, then I will surely try more from this author as I have the feeling she will get better in this genre.
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. I will try not to post spoilers but there is always the chance.
I have to say that I was taken for a ride with this book. I could not put it down, lost sleep just to finish it. It has a nice stead pace, with bad guys who you don't think are and with good guys who may not even know they are good guys. It has twists your not expecting and keep the surprises through out the book.
It was correct on the grammar and spelling. It gives you a great possible life in outer space, with love... riches and so much more. You get lots of action a super brainy lady with a smart man. There is sadness that will bring tears to your eyes and make you want to cry. You will run the gantlet of emotions when reading this story.
This is supposed to be by a erotica writer? I was really revisiting regency period descriptions ... Turgid... hold on for dear life as he had his way with me ...the onset of orgasm ....his emissions ...OMG. The Fiancee who supposedly introduced her to the amazingness of sex and supposedly always had a good sex life leaving her hanging and the inference was that it wasnt a one time occurrence
The world building was interesting, there was definite possibilities I'm sitting on a 30% DNF I will have to be pretty bored or desperate to finish this :(
I tried to read this book but could not get past the first three chapters. The POV it's written in is a male alien, and while I understand this character is not human, the voice came across as a female teenage drama queen. There was nothing intriguing, rugged or even endearing about him.
There was also a continuous use of the phrase "back on Earth" or "similar to XYZ on Earth". At some point an author has to be able to describe a foreign object without comparing it to something else as a means for characteristics.
I don't know how to properly review this without giving away the ending... Basically humans are going to unsurprisingly be bigoted and judgmental about aliens and hybrids. The wealthy will make your typical rich people choices, and have nefarious reasons for being on this new planet. It will affect everyone else; and our two main characters are going to risk their lives to save the day, all while falling in love. It was a fun read.
Bying this book gives you both "Alien Survivor" and "Alien Alpha" (which belongs to the series Qetesh Warrior 1). Definetly worth it, in my opinion. Oh, and when you read them, you'll get why I used the above headline.
* * * about "Alien Survivor"
Me, I'm a biochemist. So I always kinda "fall" for and want to read books featuring female scientists in the biosciences. Especially genetics. What I DON'T like reading about is when writers clearly don't have a clue about what it actually is that their characters are suppose to 'know' and 'do' as 'experts in genetical research'.
Again, in this book our Heroine wants (together with LOTS of of other scientists, yay! Leigh gets it that academia is sharing) to create hybrids of Galateans and Humans. (Why? Well, "medical reasearch" so it falls a bit flat there). So far, creating hybrids in the labs have failed, but our Heroine thinks she can fix that.
Queue our Story getting a loooong build-up, and you wonder why and start to think the book will fall flat, and then suddenly our Hero and Heroine gets thrown together because of this HUGE "medical research into longevity" concerning hybrids, and there is literally spaceships falling out of the sky because of it. I'm not kidding: SPACESHIP FALLING OUT OF THE SKY!
For a genre that - often - doesn't concern itself with realism, I found Leigh's writing at this point very much able to vividly paint the happenings in the book. Then, it was joy to read.
* * * About "Alien Alpha"
Well, the 'alien abduction"-theme has become a classic. What's different about this one? Well, Leigh tries to combine it with "The Beauty and the Beast", so that's a new one. (For me anyway).
Well...I didn't like the start, but the story kinda redeemed itself in the last chapters.
The edition I purchased has a bonus book, Alien Alpha, which is equally good, if not better, than the titled book. Both are standalones, with different settings and characters, and can be read in any order. Each has an HEA. Alien Survivor: Dr. Araceli Cross, a pediatric geneticist and head of a research project for GenOriens, has traveled to Galatea to begin implementing laboratory cross-breeding of humans and Galateans. When their orbiting spaceship is attacked, her fiance's bodyguard, Galatean Danovan tel'Darian, gets her to an escape pod which takes them to the surface. There, they watch the spaceship fall to Galatea and explode. Danovan and Ara then begin a journey to get help and answers and find nothing is as Ara was led to believe, turning her research and her life upside down. Alien Alpha: Novalyn, a New York mythology major and waitress, gets a call from a match on an online dating service asking to meet. After a few days of casual dating, she awakens on a spaceship. She is then placed in a personal pod bound for a primitive planet by a mysterious group called the Echelon. After landing, she is released from the pod by a very large, humanoid man with a ram like horn on one side of his head who doesn't speak English. Living in exile, Odrik is a banished Quetesh warrior, displaced from his role as chieftain of his tribe. When he spots the pod and releases the woman inside he believes he has been given a gift, except she won't stop screaming. And the days to come will be a challenge for both of them. These books rate 4.5 stars
I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.
In this book we meet Dr. Araceli Cross and Danovan tel'Darian. Dr. Araceli has come to Galatean to continue her research to help produce hybrid children between the Galatean and human species. However when the ship she is on is fired upon and the bodyguard her fiance assigned her helps her to escape things change drastically for the doctor. Can she continue with all of the new things she has learned? Will her guilt drowned her with the possibility of being the only survivor?
Danovan is a bodyguard first and a Galatean second but when the ship is fired upon he notices many things that don't make sense to him. For example why isn't the fire suppression system working? Why did some of the doors lock early and stop people from getting to escape pods? His finally hum moment is when he has to override the system to get the escape pod to launch, he wonders why he had to do that? This book has many eye opening things for him as well, like what is really happening to him people and on his planet.
This book will have you finding a love story that comes with a twist. Not only is it the possibility of two difference species finding love, but also their status standing in the way. Also what if everything you thought you knew was proven wrong what would you do then? Both of these characters must figure that out. This is an amazing book that I would highly recommend.
This is the first book I have read by Author Juniper Leigh. I like the writing style and enjoyed the attention to detail. I was confused; however, because the book is said to be a part of the "Stranded on Galatea" series and it was not a part of the Galatea in the first book of the series. I really liked the world that Leigh created in this book and her wonderful attention to detail. It was very easy to picture the world and it's inhabitants in my mind.
The reason for the 4 star rating was the overdone inclusion of erotic content. It became repetitive quickly and was unnecessary that so much of the book was based on same old same old sexual content. I really enjoy it when Author's give us just a hint and allows the reader to imagine their favorite sexual fantasy. Too many romance writers have joined the erotica trend. Sex does not a story make.
The characters are well defined as is this new world. There is a great balance of adventure, action, mystery, danger, romance and science fiction. I was hooked by the cover artwork and the story from the first page. I loved the characters, and would love to read more about how this new society develops in the future.
I am happy to recommend this book to adult readers of sci-fy and romance. Try "Alien Survivor", you will be glad you did.
I've been gorging on alien romance in between mysteries and fantasy novels lately, so there has been a bit of an overlapping whirl in my head and I'm still not out of it. That being said, this particular genre is very uneven overall, as most books are self-published and low on editing, and when you do find an author whose writing skills are above average, you rejoice. The novel packs various degrees of mystery, thriller and romance; there is an implacable sense about the story and nobody can say that Ms Leigh coddles her characters, no matter how sympathetic they are. The plot is decent and kept me interested, although it didn't keep me awake late into the night and most of the characters are credible and redeemable. Even the big villain has motivations congruent with her history. The worldbuilding is not as interesting as I would have wished, but I got the feeling that the relative alienness of the Galatea is just a backdrop for the two heroes to develop their romance amidst hardship and danger. It's interesting that it mirrors contemporary themes of tribalism, racism and violent intolerance, and, without preaching, but having our heroes face the dangers head on, it does make a point that could be easily applied right to our present reality. A pleasant reading and an author worth checking again. (3 1/2 stars)
I was given this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review (Thank you!).
Dr. Araceli Cross is all set to do her research on the planet Galatea. What she doesn’t realize is the full extent of what’s involved being away from earth. After an attack in Galatea, she is rescued by one of their natives, Danovan and they’re not sure exactly what happened and how many survivors there are. They will have to rely on each other as their journey to find answers begins. Danovan will protect her at all costs.
I don’t normally read sci-fi romance, but as long as it’s romance I’m pretty much always interested. I found this plot to be unique and quite defined considering it’s science fiction. My interest was piqued and it only got more intriguing as each page flew by. I never knew exactly what would happen next and I enjoy being surprised rather than knowing what’s always coming next. The characters were intelligent and the story was thought provoking. This is my first Juniper Leigh story…and notice I say “first” because it won’t be my last. I was entertained with every page I turned and I most certainly look forward to more! 5 Stars!
Rating 3.5 This sci-fi title was action-packed with an engrossing mystery and plenty of steamy scenes. There were many things that I enjoyed about the novel, some were small touches like Danovan's sister's wedding and others were larger, like the great chemistry between the main characters. Danovan was a fun character with his love of human movies and peanut butter and his gentle way with Ara. Ara was a little harder to relate to; at times she comes across as unfeeling and unaffected by violence and sad realities around her. Christian was such a unlikable character right from the start that I was creeped out by the graphic sex scene between he and Ara at the start of the book. The sex scenes between Ara and Danovan were very sexy and varied without being porn-ish. There were a few plot weaknesses of the "well how did they know that?" or "how did he get to the planet?" variety. All in all, though, a very entertaining read. I plan to follow up with other things by this author.
I really liked this one! I loved Ara and Donovan. I thought there was a lot of description to help with with imagination and the actions seemed really realistic throughout the book. I never once got mad at the characters for being stupid...maybe slow because I wanted them to get together, but never stupid. I also liked that there wasn't a "She's my mate, I must have her now!" type of persona. I liked that they got to know each other and it was more of a 'love at first sight' rather than a 'I'll die if I don't claim you' relationship. I want there to be more to this series, but honestly I don't even think it's needed. I love this one and will recommend it. I didn't find any issues with the characters, story, or actions.
Really well written and two books in one. Both really good.
It wasn't trite or stupid. It all made sense in fictional sort of way. If you know what I mean? There was mystery and charm to the story. A well thought out plot. I really like this author's voice and sense of humor. Strong characters with enough dimension to make them interesting. The second book was just as goods do a total surprise. I thought maybe it was just a sample, but no, a full length story. Just as good as the first only this one is an alien abduction story. Great characters. Well developed world with crazy foliage!!! Strong female and caring male. Awesome.
Both stories were enjoyable reading experience and my only complaint is that they ended. Her build-up of her charismatic characters and their circumstances that created many dramatic scenes with twists and turns to the storyline is fascinating reading experience. She gives you plenty of action packed moments ,emotionally charged tension and heated passionate interactions to keep you turning the pages. I will be checking out more of her books as I recommend you do too. So check out for yourself and see too how much enjoyment !
I couldn't finish maybe I will at some point in the distance future. The hero is more like a teenage boy, he does nothing really heroic, he's sweet. And just because he growls during sex or says "mine" in no way makes him an alpha or strong, he was more like a butler not the soldier or security he's suppose to be. It was just boring and really long, maybe it just seemed that way because it was so boring. So many useless details and repeating the same descriptions of the various humans and aliens. Just so boring.
First of all Great Book. The first chapters were hard to read, but had to be read in order to get all the characters developed. After that the book moved along at a much smoother pace. There were several surprises in this book and a few disappointments. There isn't a cliff hanger, but it is left open for a sequel or three. Overall great plot line lovable characters, along with a bad guy that you don't have to hate, but defiantly cannot love.
Not my usual genre, but life is about variety and I found this an interesting read. Danovan and Araceli are from different worlds, literally, but the attraction is undeniable and hot. The characters were interesting, well developed, and compelling. The book was well paced and well written. Not sure if I will try many more "alien" type books, but if this is a typical example, maybe!!?
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fast paced read that kept my on the edge of my seat until I'd finished it. Araceli and Danovan made a great couple, and I enjoyed seeing their adventures together and how they dealt with their circumstances. I was happy with how things were with them when the book ended. I would really like to see Christian get his own story in the future!
I really enjoyed the author's ability to create new worlds and situations. Ms. Leigh isn't just your run-of-the-mill writer who throws some thin storyline together between love (sex) scenes. She truly knows how to write.
You can read the synopsis in the store, descriptions from other reviews... but I am here to tell you that whatever makes you download this book, you are in for an excellent time!!!
The storyline for this book is interesting. I think it could've been better developed. The author spent a lot of time describing things that weren't needed and glossing over what I wanted to read.
The romance side of things made up for a lot of the other things that fell short...though I have to say the smutty parts made me laugh. Kernel, orifice, and emissions are not sexy words. Just add moist and you've hit nearly every no-no.
SCI-FI ROMANCE I really enjoyed this book. It tells a great story with very interesting characters that hold your interest and makes you keep reading to find out what happens next. It's a fast-paced adventure, full of drama, action, love, and hot steamy sex scenes. I sure hope there's more to come. I received this book as a gift for an honest review. Patsy Sacco
It was an okay read. I enjoyed it for the most part the only thing that really disappointed me was the Epilogue. We wait the entire book to find everything out and then it's wam, bam, Done! With an epilogue that doesn't really finish the story for you. It is definitely a HFN book and I tend to enjoy HEA's more.
The characters are well developed and I liked the realization of their attraction and how they built on that. The story itself has its twists and turns and surprises, along with a few tears. I really liked the idea and the creation of a whole new world. Very good.
This book was written nicely. I didn't realize till now how badly written some of the stuff I read are. It was a nice change. I stayed up all night reading it. And now I'm having Danovon withdrawals. Hope to find out one day how it REALLY ends...
I enjoyed it, but it felt rushed at what i was surprised was the end? It just...ended? That was a 2 star ending. Where was the denouement? It felt like the first half of a story, not a standalone. But 4 stars for the protagonists and the writing was good.
I just love a good alien love story and this one was great I was very surprised when she found out she was supposed to stay on the ship but glad for how it turned out a very good read Treasa
This was two stories in one, and both were kind of difficult to read. They both had an interesting concept, but too over explained in some areas and not explained enough in others. Of the two stories, the second one, Alien Alpha was the better story.
