When Cronus’ calls his millions of minions to battle, who can be trusted? Abby, Jill, and the rest of the team, must prepare themselves to defend mankind—even if it means operating outside the sanctions of Army and Government.
I was born in 1963. Started reading fantasy and science fiction with the works of Edgar Rice Burroughs when I was 7. As I grew I added more and more authors to my list, Isaac Asimov, E.E. Doc Smith, Tolkien, etc. Every book with a cover by Frank Frazetta was soon in my collection.
In high school I made friends who introduced me to Dungeons and Dragons, a brand new game at the time. Now I could both READ and PLAY out the adventures I loved so much.
A lot of my desire to write comes from playing dungeons and dragons and inventing worlds to play in since about 1978. My friends and I would sit around to ponder and question the mysteries of magic, dragons, and other planes of existence in fantasy worlds.
We came up with our own answers and those are at the core of my fantasy writing.
Oh, the joy of drama and partaking in it. A lot of stuff happened in this 4th part and I loved every minute of it.
First off, the new characters. We get more into Hurrem and her motivation to stop Cronus and she is SO BA!! Her past has made her somewhat hard and slow to trusting allies, but her new given powers combined with that emotional solidity has made her a powerful force that may end up being a threat. She’s so strong mentally and physically. I love her so much but not as much as I love Desmond Warner. Such an interesting character! What really hits home for him, though, is the sympathy that Cardin brings with this character. Cardin did the same thing with his Gifts of Vorallon trilogy and it packs such a punch to the connection between reader and character. I felt so bad for him and I just wanted to be on his team and fight for him. I feel a real connection with him that I can’t explain other than I love him and want to see him grow as a person.
This edition had some serious epicness (real word??) going on. One is the mental battle between Abby and Cronus. It was like dual of the brains with twists and turns that had me cheering one page then swearing the next with frustration. I’ve read a lot of books in my lifetime but I am limited when it comes to my diversity through genre (which is something I am currently working on). I say that because this is the most amazing mental chess game I’ve ever read before, literally having me on the edge of my seat while reading through the body of this fourth book and I have a hard time believing that I will find another fight like it.
Second, this climax was pretty crazy. If you still haven’t been convinced to read this series yet how about an adrenaline pumped dragon fight between a classic European and a Chinese dragon? That was such a creative surprise that I didn’t see coming I had to tell my sister all about it as I was reading it. She was kind of confused, but admitted that it was a creative move that would be awesome on screen.
Oh God, I almost don’t want to imagine how this series is going end. But I must. Fingers crossed.
This series just keeps getting better. This episode consists mostly of getting ready for the final battle, and it was packed with action. Now I will wait impatiently for the next episode to be ready. This is a great story, and the spinoffs could be endless. I hope book five isn't the last story written in this world. The potential is limitless.
