Lance del Cruz has just finished his tour with the Shifter Council Compliance Unit. Being an Enforcer wasn’t difficult, it was too easy, actually. Lance is the second story of this series and picks up on him coming home after doing his four years of duty as an Enforcer. It is also the story of his mate, MacKenzie, aka Mac, and how they deal with each other after he couple-bonded with then eventually left her all those years ago. The story starts out with a pop that quickly turns into a bang with a dinner amongst friends and family. We start to learn more about why Cross and Lance’s bears don’t get along and what motivated Lance to join the SCCU. We also have a new character, Griz, who is definitely more than he seems to be and an unexpected turn of events that makes this one of the juiciest stories in this series.

What a dumpster fire, trash mess. This made even less sense than the first book. Not to mention the “relationship” was poorly written, conflicts resolved too quickly and with ZERO discussion or emotional realisation. (Or any real emotion at all). No to mention the meddling and manipulation of others outside the relationship.
It was unrealistic and there was barely a plot to keep it all together. But then again, to call what happened a plot is an insult to every half decent plot there is.
And one more thing, I know the “mate bond” trope is supposed to be this mystical magical thing, but making one or both the partners (usually the WOMAN) a slave to insatiable lust isn’t giving the characters a choice or a shot at a workable relationship. Its forcing two people together who 7 times out of 10 should have never been together for various reasons. Its a stupid thin reason for an author to justify why two of the characters can’t break up, even though in this story finding a mate again was as easy as it is finding a new BF/GF in the real world. Even if in those circumstances the mate had to die first.
This was just overall a waste of time.

Lance has his mate and then just left her for FOUR years whilst he went off to do secret shifter enforcer stuff.
Mackenzie is entitled to be angry but after all of five minutes she forgives him.
Dislike the going back in time to show their relationship.

I pick up this authors books every now and then.
I had read Cross before but didn’t remember it.
Three brothers who all join the SCU. Each has a story to tell.
What I find with this author is the fact you are sort of expected to know who these people are by having read all her previous books.
They entertain me for a short while but are lacking a depth that I like in my stories.

This was a well written book with our precious Mae back in it. However it is kind of sad and hurt my heart. I was glad to see everything work out for a HEA in the end.

I didn't like the ending. She didn't get any answers to why he left. Now BOOM the brothers bears like each other again, guess it's a bear thing. lol

Well lets just start off by saying that men can just be stupid. Being a shifter doesn't exempt you from that rule and Lance has known he made a mistake from the moment he made it. Leaving his mate without an explanations right after they bonded was probably the stupidest thing a man can do. He knows he screwed up but still wants a second chance. Mac can't believe the jerk is back, her bond bite is throbbing and her heart is breaking all over again. Is their love strong enough to overcome or will fate and destiny get a kick in the butt. Ms. Thorne has a way of bringing her characters to life. The words of the story jump off the paper and pull you in to this magical world that she has made. She also has a way of giving you little spinets of information that roll around in your head wondering how she is going to use this tidbit in her next story. Colorful characters , a good story and a second chance make for an entertaining read that you can't put down.

Lance by Elle Thorne is post of The Mating Fever collection. Lance del Cruz is one of three brothers that Mae Foerster took in and raised as her "nephews". Their parents died when they were young. Now that the brothers are all grown up they have each joined the Shifter Compliance Counsel Unit. Their job is to enforce the rules the counsel sets for the shifter world. The problem Lance faces is he couplebounded with his mate MacKenzie and the SCCU doesn't want their enforcers to be mated or bonded when they join. Mac has no idea why Lance just took off and left her. All she knows is she is hurt, lost, angry and alone with her couplebound.
Lance is their story. Elle has done a wonderful job of opening up her characters and allowing you to see how they tick. The past will be revealed and some futures decided. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did. I received an ARC for my honest review.

Sometimes you want to forget, hate, not love, but you just can't cause the love is too strong. Love prevails!
Mac is so sure that darn witch removed her mate bond to that bad bear Lance Del Cruz after having abandoned her, She trusted that bear to treat her the way her own family hadn't and he just turned around and did the same thing, walked out on her without a word of warning, just an I love you....And now he's back in the Valley, what's love got to do with it????
Lance knows he made the biggest mistake of his life when he walked out on Mac to be an Enforcer, he didn't get the answers he wanted anyway. The answers he seeks are closer to home as he will soon discover..But how will he be able to prove his love to the little human?

My oh my where to begin on such a mind blowing storyline. Twists and turns, leaps and bounds, and finally fate intervenes in the midst of an explosive grizzly gone wild. Love Elle and her characters. Reading her books puts you right in the middle of the story. Thank you once again for your writings and works of art.

Good bear shifter story.
A short story, but it had all the elements for a complete story. Ended in a HEA. So I highly recommend this book as a good read. SQ
