4-4.5 INTRIGUING,TWISTED, I NEED MORE STARS!
I don't even know how to start.I went into this book thinking oh it's going to be a book similar to 50 shades something like that with a hot alpha male and we will see where is goes from there.Well damn did it go places!
Shyla Ball has it all right, the loyal boyfriend, great family and job then why does she feel so unsatisfied? so lost? Her relationship with her boyfriend has lost its spark, they are stuck in a comfortable place yet it's not enough.Everything changes when she spills her coffee all over the hot, sexy and mysterious Taylor Holden.
I have a mask just like the one that Taylor wears.It allows you to walk the earth pretending you are like all the others...When we bumped into each other the first day, he recognized it.He could see right through the flimsy veneer.And so, we measured each other, tried to see if the other recognized our darkness.Bit by bit, we chipped away each others facade.
Taylor at first I was comparing to Christian Grey but yeah he is pretty closed off and there are similarities but Taylor has a much darker, edgier element to him.Both Shyla and Taylor have secrets, darkness that consumes them, but when the dark past begins to chase them and blends with the present will it break them apart for good or bring them together?
I have been in love, but this is more than that, this consumes my entire being.This is more than love.I am infatuated.I am possessed.I am bitten.I am sick.He has infected me.

Okay as you should all know, I hate cheating but I let this one slide because it worked in my favour, well its complicated I don't mind cheating as long as the people they are cheating with, are supposed to be together (in my eyes) and then after they cheat they get their shit together and be in an actual relationship. Am I making sense?
This book will leave you reeling, your emotions all over the place and for a good few minutes when you finish the book you will be numb..anddd then want to throw your kindle against the wall, then you will want to switch places with the kindle and throw yourself against the wall!!
Near the ending I was like omg somethings wrong, I have a bad feeling and I was screaming at Shyla, something is wrong!!! RUN BITCH RUNNNNN!!! But yeah bloody idiot ignored me..I know right? How could she? How could she not hear me? I nearly jumped into the book to save her!!
And then the ending..oh my, like my feelings arent already in mess sure just hit me with a cliffhanger and leave me!!
Why?? I ask. Why you gotto do this to me? Whyyyyyyyy!! *Sobs*
All these books ending on cliffhangers and the next book..yeh where the hell are you?! Oh that's right you ain't even finished *hibernates until next book is released*

OH SNAP CLIFFHANGER

Phewies. I just finished the second book and damn did it get good.
So the Strapped series revolves around both Shyla and Taylor. It's a BDSM erotica so obviously there are going to be some similarities between other erotica books.
Shyla is a freelance graphic designer, she has a loving and caring boyfriend. She's content with her life as it is. One day she bumps (literally lol) into Taylor, CEO of Holden Industries and instantly forms a connection. Let's just say that meeting Taylor has opened up a world of new possibilities for Shyla.
Taylor is very damaged due to his childhood, because of his traumatic experiences he has issues with people touching him among other things like night terrors, severe anxiety and not touching stuff directly handed to him. He was very hard to connect to mainly because of his personality and how extremely closed off he was. We don't get much of an insight into his past, only little snippets. If I'm being honest I didn't really like him, there was something "off" about him.
Shyla was just as confusing. I didn't like her for the first half of the book because of her relationship with Rick and her continuously trying to pursue Taylor. A big no-no for me, but whatever. It had to happen I guess! Shyla was strong, she spoke up about her issues to Taylor and didn't back down despite her taking on the submissive role in the relationship. Shyla also had a tough upbringing, she worked herself out of poverty due to reasons you'll find out in the next book ;) but damn. The whole situation was crazy. The second half of the book was better since more plot complication was happening. I found her annoying at times but overall, she was a good female lead.
So the relationship development was very instantaneous. Their meeting sparked interest which turned into lust which then turned into what they callled 'love'. I'm not sure if that's even realistic or possible given how little they know each other... But I'm happy with the sex scene occurrences! The way Nina G. Jones wrote it was... I don't know, it didn't make their relationship feel cheap or meaningless. It waa tasteful.
OH AND ANOTHER THING since it's a dark romance/erotica there was some really -- excuse the swearing -- fucked up shit in this book. Like I'm talking RAPE. But the scene wasn't written as rape since the MC didn't know.. But still it was fucked up man!
And I have to write about another character Eric. Because he deserves something despite Taylor trying to demonize him. Eric is... an important character in this book in my opinion. He was a very interesting character, a lot of mystery surrounding him. Honestly I found him more interesting than Taylor because Eric was so unpredictable.
Had a little issue with the writing style but overall it was a fantastic and steamy read! It was less smuttier than I expected compared to Nina G. Jones' other book Debt (CHECK IT OUT IF YOU READ DARK EROTICA!) but in this case, it was a good thing. The romance, sex, conflict were all perfectly balanced.
Recommended for Crossfire, Fifty Shades, Up in the Air fans!

3.5 'Kitchen Psynk' Stars
Sheesh, I nearly ticked off all my romance categories so much was packed into this story. This is definitely a book I would loved a Dual POV. Not only because I'd love to crawl all up inside Taylor's psyche, but because there was something a bit off with Shyla. Darker sides to her are revealed throughout the book. I hope we learn more about her past. I get chills when I think about the possibilities. One huge issue I have was my frustration with Shyla for withholding information. Sticking her head in the sand is going to come back to haunt her.
Damn, even though I liked this more than I thought, it was like FSOG on steroids. And because of that it had many issues (see spoilers below). So, if you're looking for a smexy, gripping billionaire romance with a freaky twist then you'll enjoy this.
Major Gripes: (Open at your own peril. Do NOT do so unless you've read book!)
I'm sure there are more, but I want to carry on reading the next book.

What a whirlwind..I am outta breath..revved up and ready to go!!

Shyla goes to work for him; breaks it off with Rick, her b/f at the time.
She finds herself in Russia with him for her first BIG job assignment.
He buys her a new make up and clothes
The 2 become a couple, she is shown "The Darkroom" and likes it after the first scene.
They meet in a hotel room for some lunch fun!
Shyla decides its best to NOT be "That Girl" the one dating her boss..so she quits and finds another job. the mysterious texts keep appearing, she has met Taylor's half brother, Eric and all hell breaks loose after she receives a bouquet of flowers with a directive to sneak away and meet me at the last place.
book ends with a cliffy, but there is a book 2 I am now headed off to read!
Great plot, fun story line, with lots of intrigue and mystery.

2.5 - 3 STARS.
Honestly, I have a very conflicting feelings about this book. The reasons why I picked up this book are because of its stunning cover and its intriguing blurb. This book has been compared with the Fifty shades series and Crossfire series, so of course, I had to find out if that's true.
I'm not into this author's writing style. I felt way disconnected while I was reading this; it was hard for me to focus. I don't know how to explain it but I felt like the writing's a series of single sentences (if that makes sense). I'm too tired to quote the book but I'll do it later to prove my point. Anyway, I wanted to DNF this many times tbh, but alas, I was curious enough to keep going.
The book's plot is a typical BDSM recipe; hot billionaire meets regular girl, insta - love, the room of pain. But that's where its 'typical-ness' ends. This book takes a very different route -- I can't say much without revealing anything but suffice to say, it's very different. For starters, the billionaire wasn't (much of) a womanizer / man whore! Thank god. Not only that he also which is a first. And the second thing I liked about him is that he's nothing like Christian Grey. Yay!

Captivating Story with a Familiar Feel
Taylor Holden is a successful, extremely private, business man. He demands control in all aspects of his life, and maintains an aloofness no one has ever penetrated. Shyla Ball is a self-contained woman, content with going through the motions of her life. When the two meet, the connection is immediate and mutually felt.
Taylor, recognizing Shyla's intelligence, convinces her to work for him as a personal assistant. But with the chemistry these two have, working together may prove difficult, and Shyla is already in a relationship, living with her longtime boyfriend, Rick. The more time Shyla spends in Taylor's life, the more she questions her acceptance of the mediocrity she has allowed herself to exist in. As the sexual tension between the two builds, Shyla admits to herself she would accept Taylor’s kiss if he were to try, while then turning around and going home to Rick. I believe this is to show that while Shyla is a good person, she also has her faults, making her neither too good, nor too perfect; instead, she was a much more “real” person.
Strapped is reminiscent of Fifty Shades of Gray, but where FSOG has a New Adult naïveté to it; this book has a much more adult and dark tone to it, which I appreciated. Shyla, drawn to the enigmatic man, must determine if she's ready and capable for the changes in her life that being with someone like Taylor would bring. One characteristic I greatly admired in Shyla is her strength. While new to many things introduced by Taylor, she forged ahead with an open mind. Even as some situations scared her, Shyla still accepted responsibility as the one who chose to place herself in that situation, and she never blamed or became upset with anyone else for her decisions. Major kudos for creating a strong female character without making her contrary or obnoxious!
The first half of the book is ripe with sexual tension between Shyla and Taylor, and while there are some great sex scenes, they do not occur until about mid-point (sex includes mild BDSM elements). I'm looking forward to continuing this story and delving more into these interesting characters.

I was in a mood to read a dark story and the blurb was very good but I had some serious problems with the main characters.
The plot isn’t something unique. Woman meets mysterious rich man and this man wants her to work for him. Soon they are having an affair. Did I mention that the woman has a boyfriend? Of course the man has a kinky side also!
But let me tell you about the characters. I didn’t like Shyla. Not because she cheated on her boyfriend. I admit that sometimes that happens to the best of us. But the fact that she was saying all the time how she wasn’t used to finer things in life and now she loves them and the fact that after having a traumatic experience (huge spoiler so I am not saying) her first reaction was to be thinking all the time how she’s going to comfort her boyfriend and not thinking what happened to her. I would be devastated. Also, she was very judgmental and for a woman who left her boyfriend without letting him know before that she was thinking that something wasn’t right in their relationship, that is pure hypocrisy.
And as for Taylor I can’t say much. I believe that the point was for him to be like every other male character in this kind of books, but I am afraid to say that this wasn’t the case. He’s too cold for my taste and not the kind of cold that I like. I believe that he’s more damaged than what we believe. I found him more a wannabe-dom than an actual one. Also, I couldn’t feel the connection between Shy and Taylor.
Yeah, as you can see I had some serious problems with this book!

Wow, this is a different kind of book. Initially feels like the same innocent girl starts working for CEO, falls in love, hints of BDSM (FSOG spectrum). But things turn darker as the plot thickens and themes of abuse, self-mutilation, neglect, cults, violence, OCD, and more start surfacing.
I think the writing was good, handful of grammar issues and was more developed than others I have read. But I was challenged to really like either of the characters. Shyla can be somewhat pathetic at times, showing her feelings too early and making herself too vulnerable. Despite being attractive, Taylor is pretty heartless, has weird kinks, and abuse from his past makes it difficult for him to emote or develop connections to ppl. They come together somewhat suddenly, but still question what endears them to one another. Esp. when each time they have sex, Shyla claims to feel 'dirty', and it almost seems clinical as they complete escapades but quickly return to work (no pillow talk here). It also seems like Taylor is not too responsible with his BDSM lifestyle, I had issues with him 'playing' while intoxicated, bit scary to be honest.
Props for the author being creative with the plot (maybe too creative with so maybe themes at play), and there is some good suspense along the way, just not sure I am committed to continuing the trilogy at this pt.

WOW...This is one twisted book! It starts off nice and slow and then really takes off when we start to see who Taylor really is. I like Shyla, the heroine and I like them as a couple. Taylor had a pretty messed up childhood which is why we are to believe he is the way he is as an adult. It is a common plot BUT that is where the commonality ends. There's a bunch more twisty turns in this book but it wasn't confusing or over the top. Taylor was hesitant to reveal his past/secrets to Shy but I was so glad when he did. I really enjoyed this one but I will be holding off on book #2 until #3 is released in a few days. I know myself and I know if I read book #2 I will want to go straight into the final book. I can't wait to see where this story goes! I really despise Eric and that ending was pretty fucked up!!

If you think you want to read this book because you think you might enjoy the storyline, or like the characters, or even like the writing because let's face it ya'll the author did a pretty awesome job with Debt, don't.
This is nowhere as well written as Debt, unless you prefer characters that sound like robots pretending to be humans. Or if you enjoy characters that cheat on their boyfriends and take zero responsibility for their actions. Or I suppose if you're into insta-love and the fact that the h thinks the H owes her explanations for everything he does after only knowing him a couple of weeks.
So I guess if you like those things, maybe you should read this?

This book gets a 4 from me which is like a 6 after I deduct style points for all of AWFUL "you're trying too hard" similarities between Jones' Strapped and James' FSOG. I'm not even kidding, I wanted to stop reading a few times. But, I couldn't. Shyla and Taylor were that solid and so was their story. Which is why the blatant copying from the FSOG storyline was reallllly aggravating, Jones needs to give herself more credit and stop trying so hard to mirror that series. I'm excited for Strapped Down though. Let's hope the Grey strands have been cut out.

This one has been on my Kindle for some time and so is book 2.
.....Dare I say it? yeah it was...just a bit too similar to that other book - you know 50 Shades.
Too many similarities in characters, plot, etc. apart from that it was too imbalanced. He wasn't a true red dominant as such, bit more like a pinkish Dom, kinda whishy washy.
So despite this moving onto book 2 and let's see if the pink hues become a red blaze.

Too similar with "Fifty Shades Of Grey" , also heroine get on my nerves big time for she is too clingy, stupid in decisions about not telling impotrant things to Taylor and etc. I'm only intrigued by Eric's true motivations.

This was not what I had expected. I found that I enjoy a book most when I go in blind, so that’s what I did. I want to say that this was a pleasant surprise. Albeit slow to start, it did balance the story better because about 50% through I was determined to finish this in a single day. Immediately starting the next book.

I also must warn you that you will be left with a cliffhanger from HELL. You might get pissed, but don't worry, book 2 is already out and ready for you to pick up. Just in case, to avoid any anxiety attacks, you should probably go ahead and purchase the second book as well. You will LOVE me for it!

I don't usually go for dark romances. But I liked the blurb and wanted to try this one.

That's when our man enters, Taylor Holden. They meet in typical rom-com fashion.
He offers her a job offer she can't refuse. Any idiot would have refused THAT offer.
Rick seems a bit vary about the work offer but never says anything. It was very clear from the start that Shyla was attracted to Taylor. He's the kind of man you want to hump. TOTALLY YUMMY!
Taylor's got anxiety issues. Hardly allows anyone to touch him. But he feels a connection with Shyla. He doesn't draw back from her touch. They were good together minus the conditions they were surrounded in.
For most of the book, Taylor was shy. Which was so different from any of the billionaire books. He was so caring towards her.I want that guy!
There were some points I didn't like in the book like why didn't she breakup with Rick despite knowing she was attracted to Taylor from the starting. Some events seemed a little irrational.
The book ended on mean cliffhanger.
I've got a lot of feels. Im totally overwhelmed. Shocked. The book was beautiful though. My heart really broke for Taylor. For what made him what he is today.
Im starting the next book right away. I can't bear the cliffy. No matter the heartbreak to come.

This is a love/hate book for me. Normally I love reading Billionaire meets nerdy girl with a bit of kink thrown in but this book really took the biscuit.
For a start, it took absolute ages to get going. Then once it did, there were so many similarities between Fifty Shades of Grey and Crossfire that it was almost embarrassing. The dark room was the red room in FSOG, the strangling in his sleep and taking sleeping pills was plucked straight out of Crossfire, the nutty brother was another line from Crossfire, the bodyguard/driver was FSOG, the non touching was again a FSOG, childhood issues and the kink was out of both! In fact I struggled to see anything original in this book.
A couple of things annoyed me. (annoyed me more than the unoriginal storyline). Taylor was a man in control. He micro managed every aspect of his life. He was a Dominant. Yet he broke a basic rule. He got pissed and then played, he took Shyla into the dark room and scened with her. He was NOT in control. He was pissed. You just can't do that. It's dangerous and if you know anything at all about practising BDSM, you would know that participating in any scene requires absolute focus. You have to focus on what you are doing so you can read the signs from your partner/sub. To write about Taylor and Shyla's scene towards the end of the book, and not address the fact that he was wrong to do what he did in the state that he was in, just doesn't ring true. The other thing was that there was no aftercare at all provided. If he's a Dominant, then he's a very bad Dominant because he wasn't looking out for her. I'm not going to go on a mighty BDSM teaching lecture for you, but trust me when I say, his actions during and afterwards were not a good example of a Dominant.
The cutting was an interesting part of the book, but again there was no build up to it. Yes I know why it happened, but the problem is, there was no background information as to why the cutting was a release.
Character development was beginning to shine through as the book went on but I never felt they actually had a connection. Their "love" didn't seem genuine. Here's a thing, when I read the whipping scene in the This Man trilogy, when Ava let a stranger in the club whip her so she could feel what Jesse felt, my heart broke for her. I felt her pain and I felt his pain at seeing her like that. This book had a scene where if I'd have cared about the characters, then I would have felt anger and rage for Shyla, but I didn't. I honestly didn't care what happened to her. I didn't feel like I knew her. She was a stranger to me.
This book could have been so good. I enjoy these kinds of books, but I do like the stories to be original and I do believe this one wasn't.
I cannot fault the execution of the story, or the writing skill of the author. The book flowed. But I would fault her content.

This book was very hard to finish. I think it just resembled "Fifty Shades of Grey" but with a more experienced Ana, and a nicer version of Christian Grey. I liked the story overall, with such an innocent way of meeting. It started with her spilling her coffee all over him, and I found it actually so comical. Nina G. Jones' "Debt" was an amazing read, and I think I was just expecting too much from this book.
Okay let's start with what I liked about this book.
I loved how they started the story, and how innocent Shyla and Taylor are together in the beginning. It was like a sweet love story, and their chemistry is wonderful. I really liked Taylor in many ways where he was a gentleman and treated Shyla right. Eric was an interesting contribution to this story, and the other characters compliment the leads very well.
Now with what I didn't like about this book.
Taylor's personality and sexual preferences don't fit
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but he's quite sweet towards Shyla and he doesn't act very dominant in any way... It's just a very awkward mix. The sex is meh in this story, I really like Taylor and his past makes sense towards bdsm but his personality just doesn't work with it...

Taylor is quite a complex man that has commitment problems and a bad family history. He slowly begins to trust Shyla and begins to open up to her.
This is quite a dark read and contains cheating and child abuse it also is about BDSM. This book reminds me of 50 shades and is quite similar. It also has a massive cliffhanger ending that had me screaming NO and almost throwing my kindle across the room.
Saying that I thought it was a really good read that keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next.
I really liked the characters and feel there is so much more to unfold with then during the next book. I really loved Taylor even with his multiple personalities and I wouldn't mind having a little time in his dark room with him.
Shyla is also a good character and not like a lot of female leads she has the balls to not string Nick along, she is honest and a little bit naive when it comes to the dangers that come with dating a billionaire. She also handles Taylor very well.
A great read that enjoyed reading and I am so looking forward to the next book.

After reading Debt, I had high hopes for Nina. She set the bar pretty high for me and I was excited to read some of her other work. My excitement was short lived after reading 60% of Strapped aka the blatant rip off of 50 Shades and the Crossover series combined. Lets Compare story lines shall we?
*Taylor is a rich business mogul - 50 & Crossfire
*Taylor can not handle being touched - 50
*Taylor had a traumatic childhood with his mother that shaped him for life - 50
*Taylor has violent sleep episodes that he can control with meds - Crossfire
*Taylor makes her sign an NDA - 50
*Taylor has an ex Navy FBI Body Guard Chauffeur - 50 & Crossfire
*Taylor gives Shyla her own car and wardrobe - 50
*Shyla slams into a "wall" in a coffee shop to look up and see gorgeous blue eyes - Crossfire
*Taylor has a sibling rivalry with hot brother - Crossfire
*Shyla is modest and broke (she's also stupid but I regress) - 50
*Taylor has a "dark room" just like CG had the red room - 50
Honestly, I could go on, but I don't want anyone reading this to feel how I felt during this book. Needless to say I did not bother finishing the book. Above and beyond the blatantly copied story lines, Shyla is a shallow, immature, annoyance that makes the whole book painful to read. Honestly, even the sex scenes were a let down because both characters felt underdeveloped and there was never really a connection established between the two. Anyhow, thats just this girls take on it, maybe you might love it.

Shyla is in a relationship that has lost it’s spark. Fate seems to intervene when she spills her coffee all over Taylor Holden’s very sexy chest. This interactions will spark a series of events that neither will be able, or want, to stop.
Taylor has complicated written all over him. As well as, alpha-male, hot as hell, rick and sex god just to name a few. But, he has his problems. Realizing that he has developed an emotional attachment to Shy, he sees that he will have to work through them and open up if he wants to win this game and her heart.
Shy is not one to play games when it comes to her heart; but, there’s just something about Taylor that calls to her. So, when it’s time for Taylor to call check, will she be able to be his mate?
Strapped has a darker side to it, it’s not the darkest one I’ve read but still has a nice edge to it. It’s extremely intense and has; BDSM, some child abuse, cheating and a massive cliffhanger. It will literally make you scream, and want to throw things. While parts of it really reminded me of 50 Shades, it still had me turning every page. My mouth dropped open when I finished this, and I just screamed “WTF?!” Lucky me, I was home and not in a crowded restaurant at the time. It will keep you on the edge of your seat. Strapped is an all-consuming drama and sex fueled game, I loved it.

Okay so this one was not what I expected. After reading Debt by Nina G. Jones and being shocked and mesmerized I decided to give her other series a try. I figured this was going to be some Fifty Shades knock off just from the cover and blurb but I am pretty sure this series is much more than that. I have to warn you there is cheating and I am definitely not a fan of that. That being said I knew it before I opened the book but I still hated it. Shyla has a comfortable life with her boyfriend Rick but when she gets the job opportunity of a life time she meets Taylor. He's a billionaire of course, aren't all the good ones in a romance novel? I was a little disappointed in Taylor. He didn't really have much spine to speak of but did get progressively more aggressive as the story went on. Also Shyla's life with Rick was the most boring relationship ever and it went on for over half the book. I was completely ready for her to cheat already so I could see something more entertaining then their pizza night.As for Shyla she is definitely annoying to say the least and I thought she was stupid most of the time. That being said I'm going on to the next installment because something tells me there is more to this story than we get to see in this installment.

This is the first part in a triology.
We have Shyla, woman with a nice life; good job (self employed), nice long term boyfriend and overall just a good and normal life.
Then we have Taylor, all kind of mysterious and rich CEO, with BIG issues about being touched by other people.
They meet by chance and embark on a crazy journey together, full of all kind of mysterious and crazy things; sex, love, backstabbing siblings and a dark and crazy past.
The book started out pretty slow for me at first but it did keep my attention though, I had a feeling it would get alot better and interesting, which it did!
I am sure this story is only going to get more dark and crazy, with some more secrets coming out. Think this is going to turn out to be interesting to say the least!
It is said to be a dark read in the synopsis of the book, but I would say it is "light" dark, have read much darker than this.

Are you freaking kidding me? The book had this whole FSOG vibe going on.
Signing of an NDA? Check
Red Black room where he keeps his toys? Check
Rich guy meets poor-ish girl? Double check
This is pretty disappointing since I read Debt and I enjoyed it a lot. So when I finished said book, I immediately read this, thinking it would be as good as Debt. But noooo , what I read was a Fifty Shades of Grey part two with an even worse character lineup and plot.
So obviously, I did not finish it. (I was about 40% of the book when I decided I'd rather gouge my eyeballs than continue reading this.) Hey, would you blame me?

I kept hoping something would happen but shyla annoyed me so much I couldn’t continue. I felt no connection between her and Taylor. She fell for the money, the job, and him too quickly, all while dating someone else. I honestly don’t care about cheating when it’s done right, but she was such the asshole in this situation, when I already had a hard time with her character. She was a caricature with zero personality. The way she said…Mr. Holden…was so cringe. You know, I don’t even care if this was supposed to be similar to fsog, but at least Anna had a personality. I can’t imagine this book gets better, if it does…lmk
Update- I finished the book and still find shyla annoying. The constant “mr.” and use of sir was so forced and weird. I just couldn’t get into this book. I’m shocked this is the same author that wrote one of my few 5 star reads.
