Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

I loved this movie as a child and we read this book after seeing it. These weren't the best cartoons Disney did, but they came out when I was young and I thought it was great at the time. I read this book several times.

For reasons too complicated to explain, Not recently received a French DVD of The Rescuers as a birthday present. She was somewhat nonplussed, and I tried to explain that it was a treat for anyone who had an ounce of romance in their soul, worth it just for the flying scene with "Tomorrow is Another Day". I told her that the lovely Miss Bianca - surely the sexiest mouse in movie history - was voiced by the late, great Eva Gabor, and showed her pictures. But Not was still very sceptical.

This morning, my alarm woke me at 8 am; annoyingly early, since I had just reached a point in my dream where I was about to enjoy a threesome with two extremely hot women, who had already taken off their clothes. As usual, most of the details had disappeared within seconds, but I could still remember their names: Eva and Bianca.

Well, if that won't convince you, nothing will. Though I'm afraid I can't definitely promise that The Rescuers will always have the above effect.

Walt Disney's THE RESCUERS was (is) a favorite book (and movie) from my childhood. I can still hear the dramatic voices, especially that of Bernard.

These DISNEY Hardcover books are classics and I am thrilled that they can be passed down to not only my children's generation, but also to their children's generations as well.

The illustrations are gorgeous and the story is compelling.

I rate THE RESCUERS as 5 OUT OF 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is my all time favorite Disney book! I'm not even embarrassed to say that I know every line and of course all the words to the Rescue aid society song🤣. This is a fabulous story of one brave little girl and her two helpful mice. We meet other characters along the way who are equally as special and bring the whole story to life.

This has everything, it is Funny, sweet and the film adaptation is also a winner! The film takes this book and the second book called trouble In devil's bayou and puts them together flawlessly.
A classic that I will always re visit.

Sehr schönes Bilderbuch. Ich habe den Film als Kind geliebt und wollte immer so stark und unabhängig wie Bianca sein. Diese Geschichte zeigt deutlich, dass Bianca es auch ohne ihren männlichen Begleiter Bernard geschafft hätte. Sie musste ihn aber mitnehmen, weil sie eine Frau ist und ihr Arbeitgeber ihr das nicht zugetraut hat. Spannend, dass patriarchale Strukturen bereits 1977 in einer Kindergeschichte Erwähnung fanden.

This book will suffer in comparison to the movie, which I see as one of the most sensitive, wonderful creations in Disney history. Nonetheless, this very short adaptation of the movie is good for what it is. I enjoyed it much more than most similar synopsis picture books.

This is a great book that my grandma used to read to me when I was younger. I was very young when I was introduced to Bernard and Beonca(main characters), but I will never forget them. This book allows the reader to use different voices to make for a great read for a young child. The book is adventurous and attention grasping and has a great movie to go along with it.

My parents are divorced, and as a child we’d spend a lot of time at my grandparents. They were and are big readers, who encouraged us to do the same. This was one of the many books they had for us as kids, and I won’t tell you it’s a favorite, but its memorable after nearly 20 years. Worth reading to your kids!

My love of reading started when i was young, and it gives me immense pleasure to provide books to Spread the Word Nevada, an organization that passes them on to children in the community. They are a terrific organization supporting an important cause. If your local I encourage you to check them out. For those living further a field, look in your own community, their may already be a similar program in place. And if not, you can always help start one.

Myself, I go out on the weekends and
shop thrift store and bulk book lots to rescue books and donate them. Sometimes I'll find a book I remember reading when I was young and will read it again before passing it on.

I don't rate these books using my normal scale, instead I give most of them three stars. This isn't a Criticism of the book, simply my way of rating them as good for children.

The "Rescuers" is an entertaining and adventurous story about two mice that must go on an adventure to save a young girl named Penny from her captors, Medusa and Snoops. Based off the movie, the book's length is perfect for young readers with the addition of captivating illustrations that aid in the telling of the story. The portrayal of good versus evil is also very apparent, as each character is clearly represented and grouped into one category or the other. Overall, this short read's simple vocabulary and exciting plot prove to be an encouraging read for young, and learning readers.

Disney is not my favorite anymore...it just seems to be a recap of a movie, when it comes to the books. They tend to leave out the character building parts of the movie and focus on storyline only, which is becoming annoying to me. What is the point of a story without some kind of a message? The message in this one is mice can help people.

This is a fair adaptation of the Disney movie, so if you enjoyed the film, then you will certainly like this. The illustrations are faithfully rendered and the color beautifully matches my memory of The Rescuers. Bernard and Bianca bravely set forth to rescue the orphan Penny, and children will cheer as they overcome obstacles and save the day. Recommended.

This was one of my favorites when I was little. The book also goes along with the Walt Disney movie of the same name. This could help children visualize more about the characters while reading the book.

A Disney's Wonderful World of Reading picture book adaptation of The Rescuers. I have owned this book for a very long time and really love this series overall. The Rescuers is an excellent movie with wonderful and adorable characters.

The only "problem" I have with this book, and it is quite the little nitpick since I'm so big of a Disney nerd, is that in it, they give Evinrude the dragonfly a line of dialogue. In the movie, however, Evinrude never speaks, he only buzzes. All the characters talk except him, so it was out of place for me to read a line of dialogue for his character in this book. But again, that's a tiny little nitpick.

I loved these Disney readers when I was a kid, and this is one of my all time underrated Disney movies! The watercolor illustrations and story were perfect and well matched to the movie, and I’m so glad they have these in our children’s department at the library for future generations of sweet kiddos to enjoy!
