I’m going to be completely honest here: I read ‘Three’ for the sex. In my defense, it’s been a while since I’ve read a hot threesome, and I can count on RJ Scott to deliver in the sex scene department.

description

Recently out of the army, Mark Gatlin decides to take a shot at his dream of becoming a screenplay writer. Mark decides to visit the set of one of TV’s biggest shows with his script in hand, where he gets to meet Zach Cassidy and Rob Kelly, the show’s stars and objects of his deepest fantasies. Things start looking even better when the three of them land in bed together.

When I saw that RJ Scott had written an MMM book, I had to get my hands on it. This short story flows much as you would expect it to. We’ve got a meet cute, some flirting and bonding, a growing attraction, and then three men engaging in some lovin’.

And it was hot. You can’t go wrong with three big guys going at it. The bit of kink was an unexpected bonus. I’m not going to say no to some bondage.

description

While ‘Three’ is mostly erotica, there is a bit of angst and relationship development at the tailend. I can’t decide whether that’s a positive or not. On the one hand, the touch of romance was nice. On the other hand, romance and erotica don’t always pan out well together in short stories.

In this case, inserting the romance made me want to know more about how Mark, Zach, and Rob got to a point where their relationship worked, which left me just a tad unsatisfied.

Overall, ‘Three’ is a quick, sexy, and enjoyable read. If you’re looking for an easy filler read and are a fan of RJ Scott, I’d recommend it.

A short sexy read - more erotica than romance. M/M/M about two actors and a would-be screenwriter. The length of this book made me wish for more depth, a deeper dive into the characters but reading this solely for the saucy bits? Hot. Super hot.

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

This was short and hot and could easily be a prelude to a full length story featuring Mark, Zach and Rob. Their interactions with each other were easy from the start, the sex between them moved naturally but I would have loved to have seen more of their dynamics – the nitty gritty of how things worked between them and how they each resolved their insecurities.

After returning home from serving in the army Mark is finally trying to see his dream become a reality when he turns up at a studio to present them with his screenplay. Luck is on his side when he ends up in front of Zach the gorgeous leading man on Tomorrow’s Game along with his co-star Rob.

Zach and Rob are already lovers and when they invite Mark to join him he thinks it will be a hot night that they will all soon forget about. He was wrong and weeks later he is still with both men but how long can it really last?

As is often the case when an author writes a short story that readers enjoy – the reader gets greedy and always wants more 

What?? RJ Scott wrote a ménage novella?? I have to read it!

(Those were my thoughts when I saw this come up on my recommended reads section in Amazon.)

What?? RJ Scott wrote a ménage novella?? I have to read it!

(Those were my thoughts when I saw this come up on my recommended reads section in Amazon.)

Welp – I wasn’t wrong – RJ Scott can write just about anything well!

This is a very fast-paced novella, so there’s not a heck of a lot of relationship building but it isn’t exactly just PWP either.

Basically, it’s a fantasy – a “in a perfect world” scenario – where a youngish gay ex-military man who wants to make it big in Hollywood stumbles into this perfect situation.

I won’t give away all the plot points but the couple is already established but by the end all three people have a vested interest in the relationship – and they have some really hot sex!

If you’re in the mood for a quick little story of man on man on man lovin’ – give this one a try!

Re-Read Review March 2023:
I'm not going to say I forgot how much I enjoyed this little gem because I didn't, I remembered it all. I will say that I did forget just how short Three was. Having forgotten the shortness really highlighted the talent it took to bring this combo of heart and heat to the table. I've read shorts that are full on heat and I've read those that are over flowing of heart it brings tears to the eyes. It's pretty rare to find one with both. So whether it's a re-read or new to you, I can't recommend Three enough, these mens' tale is a definite must to experience.

Original Review March 2016:
Usually short stories get an automatic 1/2 bookmark knocked off simply because I prefer full length novels but when I read Three, that little "rule" went out the window. Some might call Three a little piece of fluff full of fun, that may or may not be true for some but for me, it was a quick, fun read chock full of hope, passion, and promises of love that can happen when you were least expecting it. Though Mark is only looking for a new start and the next leg of his journey, what he finds is Zach and Rob and he just might find a piece of his heart filled along the way. It takes real talent to pack so much story and emotion into so few pages of fun and that is exactly what RJ Scott has done in Three.

Read the full review on Bookaholics Not-So-Anonymous.

Note: This ARC was provided the author in exchange for an honest review.

Less than fifty pages, this was a really quick read that hit quite high on the heat index. It's fast pace has Mark's life going from one change to another, and his own unlikely relationship with both Zach and Rob lead him down a path he never dared dream for himself. There were certain parts of the story that did have abrupt transitions and I would have liked to read about how Mark's separate relationships with Zach and Rob evolved rather than it suddenly be at a point where they were all together in one house. The ending was sudden and I was left hanging, almost as if there was something more to follow. Still, Three was an overall entertaining read and one I really think would translate well as a full-length novel. 3.5 stars, rounded off to four stars. ♥

I enjoyed this short story, and I'd be interested in reading more about this threesome. I want to get to know each character better and find out how their future plays out. I always know I'm going to enjoy a story by this terrific author!

Punto.

Review:

****4 Super Hot Stars****

Rob’s bed was big. Big enough for the three of them.

This is a really short story but it does not lack anything in the steamy sex department! My industrial sized fan got a workout cooling me off while reading this one! It's not just all sex either. Mark, ex army, desperately wants to show his manuscript to the studio where his idol, Zach, is currently filming. After nearly running Mark over in the studio parking lot, Zach, his co-star and lover, Rob, meet him in a bar and invite him back to their house. Cue the scorching hot ménage sex scene! Their chemistry is off the charts and the sheets really catch on fire. Mark is able to take his manuscript and pitch it to the studio and they want to run with it. Meanwhile, Mark has moved in with Zach and Rob. Do they stay together as three or is Mark forced to leave?

Pick up this terrific short story by R.J. Scott, but have a fan ready!

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I’ve been a fan of RJ Scott’s since I was recommended one of her books through Amazon back in 2020, and have read pretty much all her books but I’ve never gotten around to posting a review so here goes. I’ve decided to re-read all her books again that are currently sitting in my Kindle Library so I can review them, starting with this book. I enjoyed this extremely steamy insta-love novella. I thought the chemistry between Mark, Zach and Rob was completely off the charts, as well as hot as hell. All I can say is that RJ Scott sure knows how to write steamy scenes. I’m looking forward to reading more books from RJ Scott. I’d definitely recommend this book and author to everyone.

Mark taking a gamble takes his script to LA to try and sell it. Once there a bit of bad luck leads to him meeting Zach. Later Zach spots him in the bar and invites him back to his table where his co-star Rob is sitting. They talk that evening until Zach and Rob invite Mark to their place. Things lead to a more pleasurable night. The next morning, Zach suggests coming into the studio with them to pitch his script on Rob's recommendation. After six weeks of living together, Mark, Rob and Zach confess their love for each other. As a bonus, Mark's scrip is so liked that the director and producer for Zach's current hit show is pushing for his script to go into production.

Three amazing sexy and passionate men coming together in a story of perfect timing.
A near miss has Mark firmly in Zach and Rob's sights. A dubious bodyguard does what he needs and sends Mark on his way.
The three met again in a local hot spot for the tv crew and cast and Zach recognises Mark and invites him to join him and Rob for drinks.
The rest, so they say, is history.....but what follows is some very steamy scenes and an emotional ending

This was cute and hot, but easily could have been fleshed out and made into something more.
My main gripe was a couple of errors, the wrong name in a sentence and another part I had to re-read, which spoilt the flow a little, but the sex was great.

Wow, so many people really liked this story, and I... did not. The short format did not give enough development time, in my opinion, for love to develop between the characters, particularly in a three-way relationship which could be a little trickier to negotiate.
