庵原紗英個性溫和，慣於逆來順受，缺乏自主意識。她始終相信「生育是女人一生的使命」，因此婚後急於生子，想藉此證明自己存在的意義。然而，此一舉動卻造成丈夫大志的心理壓力，導致夫妻感情出現危機。

生活中，紗英凡事依賴奈津子，遇到任何困難與挫折，第一個想到的總是奈津子。奈津子也因自己的被需要而感到安慰。

某日，大志突然失去蹤影，連日未歸，期間紗英僅收到來自大志手機的簡訊，但因簡訊的內容不同於以往，讓她起了疑心。於是，她開始暗地尋找丈夫的下落，但仍舊徒勞無功……

自分が苦手というか好きではないテーマの話だったから中盤辺りまでなかなか集中できずに読むのに時間がかかった。そして見事に騙された。

うまく騙された。矛盾とおもったところもあとで整合性がとれてラストシーンになる。
注意深く読めば途中で気づいたかもしれない。
出産についてのスピリチュアルな考えを持つ助産師が出てくるのが若干不快だが、まあ必要なキャラクター。
他人に依存してなんでもやってもらってた女の子が覚醒するが、結局母親への強い依存は抜けていない。

Oh the twist was good! There were clues throughout the story and if I stopped and thought about it a bit more carefully, it would have been an easy enough twist but still I got tricked! Immediately after reading, I recommended this book to my mom and sister, and they both told me they got tricked the same way too!
I love it when the author reveals the twist and that makes you want to read the story all over again with different perspective. This novel did exactly that and I actually did read it again right after I finished reading for the first time.
The story itself is actually not too exciting, but the ending gave such a huge impression which made the whole novel such a memorable one.
