It wasn't his protection that I needed.
My name is Tris Kane and I'm so done with college and this whole town and the leash my gangster father wrapped around my life at birth.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget Tanner Hayes, my father's all muscle watchdog who lives in my shadow. He's my so-called bodyguard.
I don't need a f*cking bodyguard! And I hate his rugged deliciousness.
Tanner barely ever speaks, yet I can't stop thinking about him. He's always there.
It just makes me want to scream.
We first met Tris and Tanner in Take Me Home, a novella that released during the holidays, when Trista decides she's had enough of being the spoiled daddy's mobster princess and runs to a rundown motel in Canada only to realize that Tanner, her bodyguard, the one man she didn't want to find her, is right on her heels ready to take her home. In Bodyguard Dearest, readers get to find out more about Tris and Tanner and their relationship - the two have known each other for quite some time that as much as Tris complains about it, Tanner is almost able to anticipate her next moves. Tris is the type of woman who is strong, independant and feisty while Tanner is level headed, dependable and a no-nonsense type of man - everything that screams 'complete and utter opposite' of Tris, and such an opposite that you'd think they'd repel each other, but Alison Foster has created two characters whose personalities, whose personalities, although different, compliments each other and the chemistry, is something I can only describe as smoking. This was the type of novel that was full of action as Tris kept getting into one type of trouble or another from her impulsive nature and finding Tanner not too far behind her or even two steps ahead. This is one mobster novel that Alison Foster has managed to revamp and show readers that even the princesses used to getting what they want don't always want to follow in the footsteps of the family and the bodyguards aren't as cold as they seem to be. Bodyguard Dearest is one book that I'd recommend to many readers - from the romance lovers all the way to the ones who enjoy action.
