Immortal Killers

Rate this book
HE SHOULD HAVE DIED

Nathan Flynn is trying to get a start in life - law school, internship, and a fiancé. But when he finds himself on the wrong end of a knife, everything changes. He should have died. Instead, he acquires a unique ability - he harbors two souls in his body. If he dies, he loses one soul yet continues on. As long as he replenishes his second soul, he cannot be killed - he's immortal.

But gaining immortality throws him into a world of government spies, crime syndicate couriers, and elite assassins. A world in which mankind is second class. A world where one has all eternity to master anything, and he is not the only one.

Nathan wants nothing to do with such a dangerous world. He wants to help people, not destroy them. But when he tries to leave, he learns that freedom will be a lot harder to gain than he thinks.

Immortal Killers (Nathan K Book 1) by Stuart Jaffe is a great action, adventure, fantasy story that grabs the reader right away and keeps them until the end, and then won't let go! Our hero, a hard working guy just had to be in the wrong place and gets killed but sucked up into a immortal body that can house an extra soul. This extra soul comes in handy so if he should die, the immortal just loses the stolen soul and keeps his own. Our hero, Nathan, decides that he is going to fight and not be sent off and takes over the immortal body. So now, dead to his family and friends, he is in a new immortal body and surrounded by a bunch of crazy immortals that play not-so-nice games. It is so exciting! Starting on book 2 soon! Great plot and characters, lots of twists and turns and crazy creatures of the immortal kind! Love it!

Nathan becomes immortal in Immortal Killers, Nathan K series book #1 by Stuart Jaffe.

He learns the rules as we do. His immortality sees that his former life is no more and Nathan grapples with this. He also grapples with the assassin-like approach most Immortal killers employ and desires to use his power for good and help those in need. I love how the ending gave you a glimpse into Nathan K embracing his lot in a way that is true to himself. I look forward to reading more!

I was a little hesitant to read this one, but having read some of the Max Porter series I did.
This is a departure from the Max Porter series but is good too.
Nathan deals with suddenly becoming an Immortal and all it entails, while still thinking like a normal.

An  interesting take on  a new series. I like Nathan's character and how he struggles with being human and immortal. It's well-written, fast-paced and entertaining. I'm curious to see what comes next.

"Immortal Killers" is book one in the "Nathan K" series by Stuart Jaffe. All I can say is Wow! What a start to a new to me series. I just started reading Stuart's book recently, and I am happy that I chose to try this book. It was such a great first book to a series, and the main character is great. Nathan finds himself living life and everything going well for him. He then finds himself stabbed, and things change drastically for him. He has to decide whether he wants to live in the "new" world to him or just end it. I will definitely be reading the next book soon and find that this will be a binge series for me.

Enjoyed the premise

Wasn't sure what the story would be, but it held my interest. It will be interesting to see what Nathan does in following stories.

Nathan is in a coffee shop hanging around with this friend when he’s a witness to a shooting. As he tries to help the victim, the victim slices his throat open, and Nathan’s life changes as he knows it. There are people in the world whose bodies are immortal, and they stay that way by having two souls in their bodies at the same time. The victim needed another soul to stay immortal and Nathan paid the price. But the second soul isn’t sentient, and Nathan’s soul won’t take that. He fights his way out and he becomes the soul in charge of the immortal, but what he doesn’t realize is that he’ll have to train with the other immortals to keep being in charge of the body. They belong to an organization which keeps humanity safe from themselves because only the immortals can see the big picture, and the immortals help by assassinations, stealing, and other illegal activities. But Nathan isn’t sure what they are doing is the right thing. Will he find out the truth before it’s too late?

I really like Mr. Jaffe’s writing and was excited to get access to this book as it is the first in a new series. As I was reading, I realized that I had forgotten just how engrossing his writing really is. In this book, as in the books I’ve read: his prose is excellent, the action is non-stop, the plot is unique, and his characters are very relatable and interesting. I have noticed and appreciated in his books that many of his characters are flawed, but are still strong, hence the relatability. One thing to note, though, is this book is a little dark. I liked that, but some people might not. On the negative side, I wish the book had been a little bit longer. I believe the story could have been gone into a little bit more, but it really doesn’t detract from the book. Bottom line, I can’t say enough good things about this book and highly recommend this book, and his other books, to everyone who is looking for an excellent and quick read!

Thanks to the author for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review. This same review will be posted on both Goodreads and Amazon.

This is a action packed paranormal novel. Nathan a simple man living a simple life about to propose to his sweetheart only to have it all swept away. Waking from a nightmare tied to a chair across from a girl. Crystal the girl sitting across from him, he saw her shot in the head before he found out he was immortal, or at least the body he is in is. Now Nathan is a man with two souls, immortal as long as he carries an extra soul, empty if he does not. Before he found out he was in Jakes body not his. , on a strange island where is options are train to become one of them or go back into the darkness he barely escaped. So he trains as he tries to find a way out and back to his life. Now training complete he must come to grips that his old life is gone just like his old body, it is dead. Now he has a new life on the run, and a plan.
Larkin Group or Russo's both are bad news, he lives in hiding, he will help those he can, he will not give up. I received this for an honest review.

Immortal Killers is a new series.

Nathan K starts out as a guy that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He ends up being The Guy or at least he is trying to be.

The book is an easy read. It flowed beautifully. The story was entertaining and intriguing. I am waiting for the second book in anticipation of the continuing adventures of Nathan K.

Good

The beginning of this book was a little hectic, and I almost decided to stop reading. But I'm really glad I did not. As the story progressed and I started to identify with the main character I also became more involved in the story. To the extent that I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, and the one after that, and most probably the one after that as well.

Definitely readable

The story is action packed after the MCs training. Haven't read any of the rest of the series but this book seems to sets up the main player and gives the MC his origin story pretty well.

No real good ppl in this story, seems like ppl just suck. The old ppl are really condescending, idc how old you are something's aren't right.

Immortal or not

Nathan has a good life to live, but then all is lost in the blink of an eye.

The unusual mind of Stuart Jaffe astounds me with every word I read. I highly recommend any of his work. You will not be disappointed .

Thrilling

Thrilling, gory, fun, and all with heart! The world of immortality Jaffe has created is right here in our reality, making it that much more believable. I'm excited to see where Nathan K's next adventure takes me.

Great start to a series!

This was a fun book to read. The characters were ones I could care about and the concept of having two souls at a time to maintain the ability to heal a basically immortal body was new to me. I'm curious to see where this series goes.

Very unusual, but enjoyable take on immortality!

I really enjoyed this book and it’s unusual take on immortality. Imagine that you died & the afterlife was horrible. But, unexpectedly, your soul found another body to inhabit & that amazingly enough, that body was immortal. Not only that, but that your new body was part of a long-standing group of immortals. And then imagine that those immortals were all trained stone cold killers. Could you handle physical immortality under those conditions?! Highly recommended! :)

Audiobook Review:
Overall – 5
Performance – 4
Story – 5

Different and exciting!

This is my first book by Stuart Jaffe. It’s not my usual kind of book to read or listen to but since he’s going to be a featured author at Coastal Magic Convention in February 2025, I wanted to experience his writing. All I can say is wow! This story grabbed me and didn’t let go. Nathan really goes through a lot in this first episode of the series. I’m totally intrigued enough that I want to continue listening to this series. Immortality has its drawbacks and Nathan learned that pretty quickly.

overall good read

I enjoyed the story well enough but I find the premise a little silly. Probably needed more explanation like a flashback near the beginning to bring it together. I don’t have the patience to see if it comes together later

Too predictable

This story needed more though put into it. While there was some originality to the concept of immortality, I shouldn’t have been able to predict things before they happened.

Did Not Finish
February 24, 2025
I didn't finish it, which is why I didn't read it. People who are kind of, sort of, but not really immortal are the main cast. It's not real immortality so it's weird to call it that. What I do know is that other immortals treat the newbies like idiots. Seriously, like idiots. The new ones have no idea what is going on but they damn well better make a major decision about something they don't understand within an hour of becoming immortal.

It's a different take on immortality, I'll give it that. Books about immortals are difficult, but I have them seem well done. That wasn't, in my opinion, the case here. Try Boat of a Million Years by Paul Anderson.

I love the unique ideas Stuart comes up with but even more, I love how his characters are still human and struggle in all the ways people do every day. Great story idea, great story, great characters and it met my number 1 criteria, it kept me up reading all night.
Thanks for another great one Stuart.
