As the veil between Heaven and Hell grows thinner, the Catholic Church prepares for war by recruiting the next generation of exorcists, vampire hunters and other soldiers in the battle against the minions of Satan.
The time to train the new warriors grows short, however, as bodies begin to pile up on the streets of Whitechapel, England. All murdered in a manner similar to a serial killer who disappeared over a century ago. Now, a young team must find a way to unite and fight together or risk death at the hands of a blood thirsty killer.
Exorcists and Vampire Hunters in Training -- Holy High: The Ripper, by James Christopher is creepy and dark with just enough hints of romance among the teen protagonists to lighten the mood. The unique concept, a team of teenagers training to fight the forces of evil in a high school affiliated with the Vatican, propels the reader into a modern day struggle with the soul of Jack the Ripper. The evil is real and extremely frightening. The plot twists startle and then intrigue the reader. It leaves one anxious to read the next adventure.
