Urwin, Maurelle, and Forestyne have been sent to discuss an alliance between Isolde, queen of Dainsbury, and the Court. While in Dainsbury, Maurelle is presented with a choice - stay with the group, or pursue relationships with her own kind. In search of information, she sets wheels in motion that she did not intend.

This story is novelette length (7,500 to 17,500 words), not a full-length novel.
