I've been a Lori Foster fan for a while now and Don't Tempt Me was a great addition to her collection. Honor and Jason meet when Honor moves into Jason's neighborhood, which is what I would call a recovering neighborhood. There are a lot of fixer uppers at good deals and commerce is beginning to grow. Honor is loving her first home and is invested in its success. She is willing to work hard and learn. She is also very used to having only herself to count on so when her sexy neighbor Jason wants to help, she is quite reluctant. The story follows them navigating through the situation as neighbors, friends, then eventually lovers. There is a depth and crispness to the characters that makes their transitions that much more meaningful. Of course, in the early stages of a culture shift, there is a period of adjustment in which theft, vandalism, and the like are used to discourage change and progress. When trouble arises, Jason and the other neighbors that have become friends to Honor, really look out for her. Honor is also dealing with family problems that have shaped her personality in a big way. There's as much internal as there external conflict and Lori Foster does a great job of tying the threads together. Not to mention the sexy scenes galore, despite Honor's aversion to kink (boooo). Where I felt the story lost some impact was in covering the story happening on the sidelines between Sullivan, one of Honor's neighbors, and Honor's best friend Lexie. While I admit that it was very sexy indeed and added some emotional depth to both the secondary characters, I felt it diverted some of the focus from our main characters. They are also not going to be the focus of the second book in the duology so it made it seem that much more unnecessary. Another point of note for me was the lack of reaction from Honor at being around a former lover of Jason. I'm sorry but no reaction at all? Pluh-ease. A little twinge or something would have been more believable. Even if she ends up liking her at the end. Finally, for the life of me, I can't figure out the animosity between Lexie and Jason's brother. Until Sullivan entered the picture I was sure they would be the couple for book two... Safety: No OM/OW/Sharing. An ex comes into the picture but not in a negative way. She is actually the heroine of the next book along with Jason's bother as hero. They use condoms. Neither are Vs. No rape/abuse.

3.5 Life Lessons Learned Stars

People underestimate the power of reading romance novels, in my opinion. I have mentioned this in past reviews. This format allows authors to showcase so many situations of why people are the way they are...and then have them learn to remedy these issues and move forward. Now all books may not be masterpieces of literature...and some may tell their stories better than others...But if you allow the messages to sink in...there are life lessons to learn.
Lori Foster is an accomplished author on many levels. I have read a few of her books and in all of them the crafting is there. In this book, she is dealing with a couple of issues; abandonment, shame, assumptions to name a few. She takes the neighbor attraction/helper and mixes it with the need of the object of desire to accept his help and then his interest. She couples this with another love interest couple which highlights the mistake in making assumptions...for everyone involved ....
Like we have all heard- Assuming makes an ass of you and me....
Our main couple is Jason and Honor.
Jason is part of a solid, loving family of brothers and parents who were supportive in every step of their upbringing. The brothers are close knit and when Jason's older brother's idealistic married life falls apart, he doesn't hesitate to have the brother and son move into the home he is refurbishing. Jason has bought into a neighborhood which had fallen on hard times... but is now on the brink of becoming vital again. Numerous people have taken on the task of bring almost shacks back with a lot of blood sweat and tears...to their new glory. The make up of the ones doing this is primarily some of the "alpha guys" of the town. It takes a lot to do projects like this. Good thing, Jason is one of those men who never met a tool he couldn't work. As talented as he was with his hands, his vision was equally strong in restoring.
Honor has had the opposite foundation in family support. At a very young age, her mother got up and left her father and never looked back. After a while the father decided he couldn't cut it...and brought in the wife's grandfather to take her. So at 12, Honor was left by the two people who should have been there for her. Granddad, though, had all the love in his heart for his granddaughter. He proceeded to show her what love could feel like...but Honor had already learned her most important life lesson... never depend on ANYONE... for you never know when they will leave you.
Honor loved her Granddad and he loved her... that was clear to her...What was also clear was every single relative on her mother's side hated her...and she was told in so many ways every chance they got. Honor learned how to be strong, do things on her own and fought to be independent no matter what. She learned to be a hairdresser, saved her money and didn't take any of the offers from her Granddad... she was determined to not give the other relatives any inch to their accusations she was stealing their birth right or funds.
Time passed and Granddad became ill with dementia. Honor took on the responsibility without any hesitation. Although it was clearly a burden financially and trying emotionally to see the one who truly loved her, she logistically was handling it all... Honor did whatever she could to make it all work.
Buying one of those dilapidated homes was her first step in feeling like she was planting her own roots. It also was much closer to the care center her Granddad was in... one which was the best for his condition. Honor knew by buying this home she was taking on something she had no real experience in....But she knew how to read, watch YouTube, learn and try. And by God, she was going to make this place her haven.
Luckily, she had her best friend Lexie. Lexie was there when a scared, closed off 12 year old entered the same school she was going to... and from their first meeting, they became "sisters from another mother." Lexie witnessed all the treatment the evil relatives inflicted on Honor...and was there to allow her to vent...But as open, caring, gutsy and loving Lexie was... Honor was closed off, distant and defined the word private. Lexie knew Honor loved her... and when Honor was in pain...she would reach out to Lexie...but there were also times when Lexie still felt there were barriers even after all this time.
We meet all these characters when Honor is moving into her new house. Lexie is there claiming she will be a huge help...As Honor is trying to maneuver the van to her house, she hits a garbage can near the next door neighbor's driveway... a driveway which looks perfectly done leading to a house which shows all the care which was put into its rebirth....And coming over to see what happened is a group of men ranging in age from youngish to perfect for her. Lexie is all ready to meet this man buffet...and starts to call out to them. With the friendly advances, the women learn two are brothers and one a son. Lexie continues to flirt shamelessly with all of them but also notices the oldest, Jason is checking our her quiet friend, Honor...and Honor is caught looking at him too...
Because Jason has on no shirt....
Honor pulls herself out of her daze, apologizes for the accident with the trashcan and offers to pay for it... Jason waves it off and when Lexie starts to talk about how Honor is going to be his next door neighbor...Honor immediately lets Jason know she will be doing everything and not to think she is a helpless woman needing rescuing. Jason continues to take it all in and Lexie manipulates the other fellas to assist with unloading... or at least it looks that way to Honor... yet Jason looks her dead in the eye and explains this is how neighbors do for others.
This is the key to the dynamic between these two...the attraction/love/hate/confusion is there from the start. Honor feels with her crazy family, evil relatives and responsibilities, she does not want or wish to involve anyone. Her life is just too messy. Jason is also thinking he will not be in relationships either...He had his older brother's perfect life as the template he wanted... and then that fell apart with the wife cheating and stealing all of the savings.. even the college fund for their son. If his brother's marriage fell apart... then there wasn't much hope for him... and he was just fine with it...
Then why was he so caught up in this little spitfire...why does she run out of her house in the middle of the night...and what is happening with someone blowing up her mailbox...Jason worries for her, feels protective and if he is reading all the signs Honor does not want to admit too... she is taken with him, as well.
While we are given Jason and Honor's romance, we are treated to Lexie and her interest in another neighbor of Honor's. The fella is someone who is dedicated to his program for at risk kids... something he knows a lot about... as he would have been wearing that label during his own childhood. He survived and now he runs a MMA program to give them an outlet for all of their rage.
Sullivan didn't miss how hot Lexie is and she let him know she is totally open to fun and games with no ties... but when Sullivan gets to really know Lexie, he realizes there may be more to her than the party girl he had pigeonholed her as...Unfortunately, Lexie heard him loud and clear when he discounted her... and it hurt. Lexie wasn't about his image of her to deter her interest... she would just have to be who she was and see what happens.
Foster weaves both of these two relationships with a way to keep our interest and desire for all to have their HEA. We get a bit of mystery and lots of emotional push/pull between Jason and Honor. They are hot for each other and Jason has the patience of a saint...understanding the huge trust hurdle he is up against with Honor... He feels she is worth it... and shows her over and over again... he is there for her. With the budding romance of Lexie and Sullivan, it is as hot as you would think with these two.
This is a quick read and Foster fans will appreciate her bringing these characters to life.

I was so eager to jump into another Lori Foster story; but this one just was a so so read for me. I am not quite sure what exactly made me find it just blah; but I did. I actually had a hard time becoming fully engaged with the characters. Jason Guthrie was the hero, and he became Honor Brown's neighbor when she moved in next door to him. Jason also had his brother and nephew living with him as well.
The bottom line is that I found this an ok read; but I wasn't excited about it. It won't make me stop reading Lori Foster's work; but it does make me a little less excited about reading her newer stories. I will say, that I think she does an awesome job with her MMA series...she seems to have a gift for that.

4.5 Hunky Neighbor Stars!!
I really loved this book, classic Lori Foster!! Where to begin….. Don't Tempt Me starts when Honor moves into her new fixer upper house with the help of her BFF Lexie. Right off the bat her sexy neighbor Jason, his brother Hogan, and his adorable teen nephew Colt start to intrude in her very private, quite, and busy life, and things get a little bit crazy for her.
Now about The Guthrie Brothers (and Colt)….they are very friendly, generous, caring, honest, funny, and super protective. Jason was attracted to Honor right from the start but Honor has a lot of personal stuff to work through, she has family issues that make her over independent, abandonment issues, and it’s really not easy for her to trust or depend on anyone. Regardless of Honor’s shields Jason falls for Honor early on in the story and has no issue waiting for her to let him in (with a few nudges)…meanwhile he makes sure that he’s in her space as much as possible…actually all the Guthrie men invade her space.
“She’d spent so much time shut off from the world, rejecting care and attention, and now she had it in spades. He wanted her to accept him, to accept them…because he didn’t come alone. He was a package deal, all the chaos, insanity, and fun included."
There was a bit of drama and many heartfelt moments, the hero and heroine were definitely a good match. We also got a secondary storyline involving Lexie and Honor’s new neighbor Sullivan which was a fun bonus, all the secondary characters were great and I can’t wait to get more of them.
All-in-all, there were some parts where the Honor was a little too pushy about her independence but, she’s so likable it’s easy to overlook. Lori Foster fans will be happy with this book…after all what’s not to like? We get a hunky, self-confident hero with an understanding heart and heroine with a troubled past who needs a hunky self-confident hero who will make her feel safe and secure!!

Ooh boy, what to say about this one? To be honest, I just want to say, lacking effort. Foster's writing is a bit like Shalvis with its easy readability and tendency to stick to a formula. It's a formula I greatly enjoy but this one, especially with the main couple, felt completely uninspired. I don't feel like I really grew to know the hero at all and both the hero and heroine came off a bit ho-hum. I got way more from the secondary couples and especially the secondary romance, in which about 30-40% of the story is given to.
As the first in the series, the series baiting characters stole the show more than once and even though I really liked the secondary couple, it seems their romance is resolved here, I really wanted them to get their own book. This felt rushed, squeezed in, and the main couple was uninspired. Looking at the second in the series, it looks like Foster continues with the two couples format. With books that are around 300pgs, I sometimes don't find that long enough to fully flush out a romance to my liking, adding a second couple makes the story feel more like two novellas smashed together.
I can see people who want more of shorter, quicker romances liking these better. The half star is for the German Sheppard doggie that comes in towards the end :)

DON’T TEMPT ME is one of the more special books I’ve read from Lori Foster. It’s a Contemporary Romance set in a small town and the story features two couples in a single book. While I’ve read many Foster books before, DON’T TEMPT ME was one of that hooked me from the very first page. I immediately fell in love with Honor Brown and Lexie Perkins. As best friends, they certainly get along, but they also couldn’t be more different to one another. While Honor is a little more reserved and independent, Lexie is seen as more of the party girl.
When Honor moves into a new home, she soon finds out that her neighbors are all hotties. However, there is one hottie in particular who has snagged her attention. Jason Guthrie is quite the alpha male. In fact, all the men in his family are. While he’s staying with his brother and teenage son next door, he can’t help but try to offer some assistance to his new, cute neighbor.
Honor and Jason’s romance blooms at a wonderful rate. I hesitate to call it a slow burn because it does heat up pretty quickly, but in comparison to Sullivan and Lexie, it’s a little more sweet.
Lexie is a little more out there and when she first sets eyes on Martial Arts teacher, Sullivan Dean, she immediately hones into him. This is why I said that Honor and Jason are a little more subtle, but Lexie probably doesn’t have a subtle bone in her body. Their romance is swift and scorching and it was a nice way to balance out the two stories.
DON’T TEMPT ME is sweet, sexy and funny. It has all the things I look for in my Contemporary Romance reads so I have no doubt that this book will appear in my favorites of the year.

Jason Guthrie is quite the alpha male. In fact, all the men in his family are. While he’s staying with his brother and teenage son next door, he can’t help but try to offer some assistance to his new, cute neighbor.

Don't Tempt Me, by Lori Foster, is the 1st book in her Guthrie Brothers series.
And what a great read it was!
A quick contemporary romance starring Jason and Honor. Honor with a troubled past, strives to make it on her own when she moves next door to strong, gorgeous and self-confident Jason who does everything in his power to break down those walls surrounding her.
Secondary characters are wonderful and the author shows us the power of not only romantic love but friendship love as well.
And what a great read it was!

Don't Tempt Me is all about new beginnings, courage, friendship and family.
Sometimes, you grow up with a great family surrounding you, other times, you just have to make your own family - surround yourself by people you love and who love you back. The latter was the case for Honor in Don't Tempt Me. Because she moved to stay closer to her dying grand-dad, Honor really didn't have much tame for herself. Between her job, going to the nursery home in the middle of the night and trying to do some work on her house, she was a very busy lady. She still managed to get closer to her neighbors little by little, though, in big part thanks to her best friend, Lexie.
The writing, as always with a Foster book, was spot-on! I really got to know Honor and Jason well, and there were quite a few chapters about Lexie and her romance as well. Some of Honor's inner dialogues really got to me, though, because she was so very insecure when it came to other people. In some ways, it's completely understandable, her mom disappeared, and then her dad just kind of left her with her grand-dad - so she was used to people leaving. When she moved in, though, Jason offered to help her carry some stuff into her house, and she was all about not wanting to impose! When people offer help, it's usually because they truly want to help, and the not wanting to impose part got old fast.
The slow pace and the way the romance unfolded really made my toes curl in pleasure, though, and the character development was nothing short of amazing! Written in third person point of view, past tense, Don't Tempt Me is a strong romance that is perfect for reading during a lazy summer day!
She tried to concentrate on Colt's father, but couldn't. She glanced at his brother again, and her gaze got caught in his. Something, challenge or maybe interest, kicked up the corner of his mouth in a nearly indiscernible way. But she saw it. Shoot, she felt it.
Somehow, on her, the mismatched outfit looked pretty damn hot. in fact, no matter what she war, the sight of her never failed to fire his blood.
If sex had ever before been that amazing, she probably wouldn't have given it up so easily.

July 22, 2016I couldn't handle the hero in this one. And not because he was the worst misogynist ever or anything like that. But that's a bit of the problem. He was one of those low-key, well-meaning types that's still so irritating and also you can't call them out on it because they'll be all "but I was helping!" Ugh, no, deal with plenty of those assholes in real life, I don't need them in my fiction.
(He was of the "woman living alone? but there's bad guys, she might get hurt! she totally needs a man. Literally any man. Father, brother? I don't need to know what kind of guys her relatives are, if they're weedy or tough, nope, nothing, just the pronoun, because literally any man, sight unseen, qualifications unknown, any MAN would be safer than a woman alone.
'Cause, ya know, we fight off robbers with our penises or something."
UGH I HATE THOSE GUYS SO MUCH SHUT YOU'RE FUCKING FACEHOLE.

I was looking for a sweet, easy, moving, contemporary romance and that is just what I found in Don’t Tempt Me.
Honor is moving into a real “fix me upper”. Use to doing everything on her own, Honor is taken aback when her hot neighbor, his brother and his brother’s son come over to help. She doesn’t know how the ask or accept help which makes their first encounter quite rocky.
Honor puts everything into fixing her home, Jason can’t help but be impressed with Honor’s focus and conviction but he and his nephew keep inserting themselves into Honor’s life. Eventually they make that connection and break past her barriers.
When vandals strike at Honor’s home, she discovers that she has already collected a good group of neighbors that have become more than acquaintances.
Jason’s ex shows up, I had a hard time believing Honor was so unaffected even if they were destined to become best of friends, I don’t see any woman being 100% fine immediately with an ex. That was my only complaint with the story.
There is a side-romance between Lexie, Honor’s 1 friend, and Sullivan.
Overall, I found Don’t Tempt Meto be the perfect beach read romance.

First in a new series by Foster and all I could think about is OMG I can't wait for more! Amazing new characters who I absolutely couldn't get enough of.
Jason is an all around good guy and keeps busy fixing and building things for the people in his town. He is also is helping his widowed brother and nephew get back on their feet by living with him (see good guy). When Honor moves into the rundown house next door he feels not only protective towards her but he also wants to help even if she doesn't want it.
Honor was raised by her grandfather and she moved to be closer to the home he is in. She is working herself to death by keeping up with the house she had a lot to do on, working as a hairdresser, and taking care of her grandfather. Honor is independent and wants to keep it that way but Jason isn't making it easy. The more time she spends with him the more he is breaking down those walls she built up.
I absolutely LOVED these two characters separate and together as a couple. From the moment they met they had great chemistry even if their first encounter was a little bit odd. The more I read the more I realized that they needed each other. I especially enjoyed how Jason and his brother and his friends took Honor in as a member of their family since she basically had none. It was really sweet and definitely made this book better if that was even possible.
Since this is the first book we are introduced to so many new characters and I haven't found one yet I wasn't interested in knowing more about. While Jason and Honor get majority of the page time their is another romance going on with Honor's neighbor Sullivan and her best friend Lexie. And these two are funny! I enjoyed their story as well.
Don't Tempt Me was a sweet read. I loved watching these two couples who are polar opposites fall in love. In true Foster fashion her story made me laugh, cry and totally swoon for the HEA. Now I'm ready for the next book in this series and I'm so hoping it Hogan's book for the simple fact I want to know more about the situation with his ex wife even though it was spoken about briefly in this story but also the attraction between him and Violet because their chemistry is hotter then hot.
You definitely don't want to miss this book!

Don't Tempt Me is the first book in Lori Foster's new Guthrie Brothers series. I thought this was a sweet, easy read. I enjoyed these characters. This book focuses more on Jason and Honor's relationship then Sullivan and Lexie's.
Honor moves into a "fixer-upper" in a up-and-coming neighborhood. She is used to doing things on her own. So when her (hot) new neighbor (Jason), his brother, and his nephew offer to help, she is shocked and a little reluctant to accept their help. Honor is determined to improve her home and make it her own. And that (stubborn) determination is something that Jason definitely takes notice to. Eventually Jason is able to earn Honor's trust and she beings to let him in.
There is a side romance between Honor's best friend, Lexie, and her (other) new neighbor Sullivan. I thought their romance was sweet, but I felt their's was a little rushed. I kinda wish they had their own separate story.
The thing I loved the most about this book was the overall sense of community and friendship that was at the heart of Don't Tempt Me.

Don't Tempt Me by Lori Foster is very different from anything I've ever read by her and that's not a bad thing, but if you are looking for the normal type of romance you get from her this is not it. Don't Tempt Me is on the sweeter side of romance although there are plenty of sexy times and while the men are hunky, strong, and alpha they aren't in your face alpha like her normal heroes. That all being said, I loved this book in that it was very much about the characters and the relationships with one another and while there was a bit of excitement in it, there wasn't any big suspense plot or even any big blow up between the main characters; simply put it was well written, well paced romance with a group of characters easy to love and hard to forget.
Abandoned by her parents and sent to live with her maternal grandfather Honor Brown has always had a hard time letting people in to her life and trusting them. While she adored her grandfather with whom she had an amazing relationship his failing health and dementia have put him in a care facility and so the only person she has to rely on is herself with a little help from her best friend Lexie. She's proud of the house she's purchased despite it being in an area in the middle of revitalization and the fact that it is a big time fixer upper, Honor is sure she can do the work and feels her grandfather would be proud of the choices she's made. Honor is one of those heroines who is hard not to like; she's self sufficient almost to a fault, she's caring, kind and considerate but she has a stubborn streak especially when it comes for accepting help. Lexie tempers her and tries really hard to help Honor have fun, something she hasn't allowed herself especially in the last couple of years.
Taking out her neighbor's trashcan on move in day may not be the best way to introduce yourself to the neighborhood but in Honor's case it might have been the best thing that ever happened to her. Jason Guthrie along with his older brother, Hogan and Hogan's 17 year old son, Colt are there to greet her and welcome her to the neighborhood. I loved the way these three men immediately sprung into action and helped her move in, gave her some advice (although she didn't appreciate all of it), and simply refused to let her do everything on her own. They overwhelmed her with their kindness and while it was difficult for her to accept, each time got easier and as she let her defenses down she became friends with Hogan, a surrogate aunt to Colt and Jason became the object of her desire, but not only that they made her realize that there are good and decent people in the world who are trustworthy. And through them she meets her other neighbors Sullivan Dean and Nathan Hawley as well as a few other quite interesting characters.
The relationship between Jason and Honor builds at a good pace and I liked that Jason made it known he wanted to be intimate with Honor but there wasn't a rush to the bedroom. More so he wanted her to let him help her which she refused, but she did allow Colt to do some things for her. All while Jason is trying to figure out a way around Honor's walls and find out about her crazy schedule that she refuses to discuss with him; Honor's friend Lexie and Sullivan are also exploring a relationship but at a much faster pace. So in essence, you get two romances for the price of one in this book.
I loved the overwhelming sense of friendship and love between this group of people and when Honor must face down her worst fear and her crazy family, they are there for her in more ways than she ever imagined. This ragtag family gave off so many feels and while everyone with struggling with one thing or another, they were there for one another and that made this book truly special.

So I have a confession to make, this is the first book that I have read from Lori Foster. I know, I know...how come it took me so long to finally read a book from this author? Well the answer must be that I must have been living under a rock or something. LOL. Well, as of right now all you Lori Foster fans out there just gained another reader to the club after I practically devoured Don’t Tempt Me.
Don’t Tempt Me was the perfect blend of temptation, love, friendship, family, and second chances. Ms. Foster did an amazing job as she sprinkled lots of raw emotions while still maintaining a sweet and yet sexy romance brewing between two neighbors.
When Honor Brown moved into her new house that was in desperate need of major remodeling, she never expected her arrival would bring forth a sexy neighbor and a cast of neighbors that will soon become like family. Immediately Honor was thrown into a whirlwind when her handsome and caring neighbor, Jason Guthrie makes it known to her that he is interested. Soon what started out as being friendly leads into something more meaningful and deep. Will Honor be able to let Jason into her life and break down all the walls that she has built up? And once those walls are knocked down, will Jason be able to show Honor that she was already shining bright and doesn’t need to hide from her past and insecurities?
As I stated before, this book was a perfect blend of steam, sexiness, passion, friendship, love, and new beginnings. Not only did Lori Foster highlight the romance of Jason and Honor but she also brought forth romance brewing Honor’s best friend, Lexie and Honor’s other neighbor, Sullivan Dean. And oh yeah there might be another romance brewing between Jason’s brother, Hogan and a certain restaurant owner. So as you can see, romance, friendship, and family are in the air. With raw emotions and heart, Ms. Foster has beautifully weaved a love story that will tempt any reader to get lost in this amazing and uplifting story. So if you are ready to get tempted, then look no further than this book.

As I stated before, this book was a perfect blend of steam, sexiness, passion, friendship, love, and new beginnings. Not only did Lori Foster highlight the romance of Jason and Honor but she also brought forth romance brewing Honor’s best friend, Lexie and Honor’s other neighbor, Sullivan Dean. And oh yeah there might be another romance brewing between Jason’s brother, Hogan and a certain restaurant owner. So as you can see, romance, friendship, and family are in the air. With raw emotions and heart, Ms. Foster has beautifully weaved a love story that will tempt any reader to get lost in this amazing and uplifting story. So if you are ready to get tempted, then look no further than this book.

Better than Lori's usual, but still has the basic sameness of her books. Instead of being a virgin, Honor hasn't had sex for two years and has a slutty friend. The slutty friend (Lexi?) is 100 times more fun but despite her equal billing on the description we spent very little time with her and her match, Sullivan.
Lori tries to craft some reason why Honor is being so nuts about her Big Secret, but ultimately having a sick/dying grandfather is a crazypants thing to hide and she has a hard time convincing me about Honor's trust issues. Especially when she has had such positive influences such as the grandfather and her best friend since age 12. But okay, whatever.
As usual, everyone knows they want to get married after a week for some reason. And no one talks like a real human.
I am a big romance fan, and I got into it because of Lori Foster, but there's just so much more, better stuff out there now. Treat yourself to some Kristan Higgins and leave this on the shelf.

Romances like this don't usually catch my eye as much as more contemporary reads do, but this was definitely not bad. I mean it was totally cheesy, but the kind of cheesy that makes me weirdly very happy.
The main character is a typical damsel in distress but tries to do things on her own and here comes the new hunky neighbor who is Big and Strong and wants to protect her and fix her. Bring in the feisty best friend who is wary of the new guy at first but soon totally wants them to be together.
This book is a clique, but this trope is popular for a reason. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but there are people that will eat this shit up.

I usually love Romance by Lori Foster and have read many of her older books that I just love. This one just doesn't do it for me. The hero, Jason, has insta lust the moment he meets the heroine, Honor, that even his annoyance with her arrival in the neighborhood can't temper. It's a rough area that the city is trying to rehabilitate and Jason doesn't feel she should live there, alone anyway.
Honor has bought this fixer-upper on her own and is so proud of that accomplishment. It needs a lot of work and it will take every spare minute she has, but it is hers and her pride in that is justified. Jason just can't get over his White Knight Syndrome and falls all over himself trying to help her. I'm all for the friendly neighbor, but for some reason it just comes off as a superior attitude, not to mention he wants to get in her pants in the worst way. Honor has a difficult family and has learned not to depend on anyone else and wants more than anything to succeed with this, just to prove she can do it on her own. She also finds true love (Jason) and a community family that supports her when she needs it most.
There are subplots and secondary characters that make the book more alive, but they can't carry the story and it just falls flat.

As much as I love Lori Foster, this one just didn't click for me. I know you can't please everyone, so don't take my word for it. Definitely try it for yourself.
The writing, as per usual :) is spot on and the characters were all super nice (except for Lexi and Hogan - but they have their own brand of charisma *wink wink*) and they all had great characteristics that made them likable characters. My problem was that the heat and flare of chemistry that LF books are known for, that spark that leaps between the MCs, that was missing in Don't Tempt Me.
Honor and Jason were pretty great together. Jason was a typical LF Hero that falls fast and hard for his h. I loved him and Honor together up until the like 75-80% mark when we get that tid-bit about his past with Violet I could have done without the whole Jason and Violet thing. That alone dropped this down in enjoyment points.
I didn't really mind the two stories in one, however I think that it was strange to see Lexi and Hogan bantering and having really good chemistry only to find out that they weren't fated to be together. That threw me for a sec. Sullivan was again a pretty decent H, but his judgmental thoughts regarding Lexi were too harsh at times and I thought Lexi chased him too hard. Half way through I was hoping they went their separate ways. Their relationship felt too one sided with Lexi doing all the work and Sullivan not getting enough page time to appease this reader's belief in their HEA. I needed more time with them but mostly Sullivan needed to do a shit ton more of apologizing or better yet groveling to get Lexi. Instead we get pushy Lexi finally getting a half ass declaration from Sullivan that left a HFN rather than the HEA feel I normally get from LF.
Still it was a good read, just not a favorite for me. I'm not that fired up with excitement to read Hogan's story next because of the whole Violet thing but also he sounds like a character with a lot of resentment and emotional baggage due to his dead wife. Again not something I generally gravitate to but I am psyched to check out Lori's new bodyguard series coming soon, a spin off from her MMA series. The sneak peek I got definitely piqued this girl's interest.

Coffee dates with Don’t Tempt Me
First Date: Don’t Tempt Me opens with Honor Brown driving a moving truck with her snarky BFF, Lexie Perkins. Honor has just purchased her first home, made possible by a program from the city to reinvigorate a neighborhood that has fallen into decline. Her new home was abandoned and is dire need of some TLC. As they pull up the truck, they glance at her neighbors’ home a well-maintained beauty with three Gods in the front yard and one of them is shirtless. Lexie cracks me up, as Honor hushes her and I found myself giggling and settling in. When they approach the truck, we learn they are BROTHERS! *happy dance* Jason Guthrie (shirtless hottie) is her new neighbor, his older brother is Hogan and Colt is his eighteen-year-old son. We quickly learn Honor is uncomfortable with help, as the men unload her truck. I am curious about the weight I can feel on Honor’s shoulders and loved the chemistry I felt brewing between Jason and Honor.
Second date: Friends, neighbors, siblings and more make me feel a part of their group. I loved the up and coming community and lazy last-minute get-togethers. We meet Sullivan the neighbor across the street who didn't impress me at first- but wow. Nathan a neighbor down the street is a police officer and Violet the owner of the local eatery shares barbs with Hogan. All this gave the tale a hometown feel. I loved the interaction between them. Honor is very guarded, and keeping weird hours which concerns Jason. As the reader, we are privy to the nightmare that is her life but Jason and the others are left in the dark. Except Lexie whose lips are sealed. Foster did an excellent job of developing Honor. She felt genuine and her story only endeared me to her and showcased her strength. Jason was delightful and his patience with Honor, Colt and others made me swoon. The romance has them slow dancing as he takes two steps forward and she nervously takes three steps back, but Honor is brave, sweet and certainly worth the effort.
Third date: Foster shared several threads from Honor’s problems to local robberies which kept me flipping the pages. We get to know Lexie on a more personal level as she and Sullivan share sparks. Sullivan really surprised me and I hope he melts your heart too. Heat, banter, time with friends, and a little danger kept me up past my bedtime. Foster made me laugh, wipe a tear and even added an adorable dog to the mix. From the home improvement projects to the secondary characters story, I found myself wanting to move to this street and help revamp the neighborhood. I can already see myself sharing coffee on the porch with my new neighbors.

Having never read a Lori Foster romance before, even though a few of her older ones are on my TBR list, I’m not sure if my issues with this book are due to her general writing style, or are just unique to this book.
This is definitely a contemporary romance in the vein of a Kristan Higgins, or a Jill Shalvis (but not as cutesy), but honestly felt more like a New Adult romance to me. Even though our main characters are all in their late twenties and early thirties, Honor comes across as naive, young, and inexperienced in life - and not in a good way.
Her “big secret”? Not much of one. Her “trust issues”? A wee bit overdone. Her family? Also overdone. Jason has nothing to him - he has no flaws. He's just a perfect, hunky, home-repair dude who loves his family, and fixing things, and his neighbours. In comparison to Jason, Honor comes across as needy, whiny, and undeserving. She's just not a strong character.
The mini-sub plot involving Lexi and Sullivan could have made a good story on its own, but was relegated to second place in favour of the less interesting characters of Honor and Jason. This overly long novel would have been far more palatable as a novella.
What really bothered me were the actions of the men around Honor (and Lexie, but less so with her). They are your quintessential take-charge romance heroes, but to me often moved past the invisible line of “alpha” and over to “alpha-hole.” Frankly, if any person I had just met “tipped my chin up” I would NOT be pleased. So, why this action is considered ok in a contemporary is beyond me, and why Honor puts up with these actions (and more) is astounding.
Frankly, most of these characters were two-dimensional stock-romance characters, and the overall story wasn’t unique or well done. At times this book felt like the text version of an Abercrombie and Fitch commercial; everyone is very buff and tanned and beautiful, and they all frolic in proscribed and clichéd ways.
I was looking forward to a light, easy, fun contemporary and just ended up frustrated at the characters instead. I don’t think I’ll be trying any of Lori Foster’s others now.

Received a copy from BEA Chicago 2016 and met the author!
Somedays you just need to prop your feet up with a glass of wine and forget all about reality. With this never ending doom of an election, clown sightings and people being grabbed like six packs, you need something cheesy and uplifting to change your mood. That's where L. Foster comes in.
Love never comes into your life when you are looking for it. I can say this first hand. So, trust me I know!
Honor Brown is anything but a damsel in distress. She bought a tiny fixer-upper house and plans on remodeling the entire house to make it her home.
Her best friend Lexie tags along to help Honor on her big day. Things don't go so well when they spot some hunks outside and Honor kills their trashcan. Getting the attention of those men gets them distracted. (poke poke)
Automatically Honor is smitten with Jason, the next door neighbor who forgets what a shirt is. But she'll never be the first to admit that.
Honor accepts the help from the neighbors to help her move in. They take care of her like a family would except for Jason. Oh! he helps alright..... (can we say boing boing boing)
As Honor starts to feel more welcomed and tries not to fall in love, Lexie has other plans.
She can't stop thinking about the neighbor across the street, Sullivan. They seem to be caught in each others webs and he might change her for the better.
With secret lives comes bigger hearts and no time for regrets.
I swear to you these scenarios only happen in books and films. An innocent girl moves onto a street with hunky beefcakes and one wants her for more than her body. Say what!!?
This was a nice escape from the life of a frustrated Illinoian. The story was cute and there is a lot more going on in the story then I let you believe, it was just way too predictable for me. And I get that it's the point of the contemporary romance, but I needed some more drama or hatred. Not sure which one, but probably both.

I loved Don't Tempt Me & could not put it down. Jason Guthrie was very busy with his business, having his widowed brother Hogan & nephew Colt living with him & helping improve the neighborhood & keeping it safe. Honor Brown is his new neighbor who moves in next door & she is busy as well. Honor herself hasn't had an easy life-because of her past she has trouble trusting others, leaning on them & relying on them to help her. She doesn't want to be a bother to anyone, she wants to be independent. We also get to meet Lexie, who is like a sister to Honor helping Honor in this new chapter of her life while Lexie forms a relationship with one of Honor's neighbors Sullivan Dean. Sullivan owns a gym & helped underprivileged children. He thinks Lexie is a party girl, only out for a good time with no substance to her. However he realizes how much he underestimated her & judged her by her looks alone after seeing how she is with the children at his gym. This is the first book in a new series & was a great book!

This book was AMAZING and sweet and just plain perfect. It had every element that I love in a Lori Foster book. I was mad that I had to go to a family picnic to stop reading LOL. I really loved Jason and Honor as a couple and I hope that maybe this is the start of a new series.

I loved loved this book. Looking forward to book #2. I highly recommend this book. It had an excellent storyline and strong characters. You can never go wrong with a Lori Foster book!

I will have to say right away I loved DON'T TEMPT ME. Readers get two very complex stories in one great book. You will meet Honor Brown, a sweetheart of a girl determined to make it on her own, so much so that she equates accepting help as showing weakness. After losing her mother, she is dropped off at her grandfather's home by her father who then disappears. Her aunts and cousin always made her feel as if she was taking advantage of the old man ... even though that couldn't be further from the truth.
Jason Guthrie, her new next door neighbor, is a helper. He does things for people, it's just the way he is. The last thing he does want is the attraction he feels for her. After all she's prickly, defensive and closed up. But as she slowly loosens around him, he finds that the woman she is hiding is a damn fine one, who makes his heart beat a lot faster. He didn't expect the protectiveness that sweeps over him when he finds she is harassed and endangered. Nothing was going to happen to her if he could help it.
The second part of the story line brings us Lexie Perkins, Honor's best friend, and what most people would see as a party girl. Sullivan Dean might be attracted to her, but the last thing he wants is an involvement with her. He wants to work with and teach his martial arts to students who need an outlet. Little by little the party girl facade falls away as she lets him see the warm, caring woman she really is.
DON'T TEMPT ME is a fantastic read that will give you the proverbial warm fuzzies as you devour the pages. Honor and Lexie are two different types of women bonded together out of need. Jason has his hands full with his brother and nephew who have moved in with him after the brother's marriage broke up, but he is unable to not help Honor with her dilapidated house. It takes Honor a while to learn that accepting help is OK, and also to later find her backbone. I thoroughly enjoyed the process and the patience of Jason, who despite his own reluctance, knew she is special. Then add in Sullivan and Lexie's story and their learning curve with each other and wham ... love all around. I enjoyed the “giving” Honor a guard dog (you will have to read it to understand what I mean by that) and the two brothers and son/nephew's interaction with each other as we the reader are getting to know them. I enjoyed this little town and the people in it and want to move there. If you want romance, sweet and steamy, men who are men (raised right with manners and well ... hot), and women who are strong in their own rights, then DON'T TEMPT ME will be a read you want in your hands.

Lori Foster is so great at creating communities in her books that I want to be a part of, and Don’t Tempt Me is no different…the location and characters just pulled me in! This is the first in a new series and after reading it I can’t wait for more.
DTM is such a heartwarming and feel good story. Jason is an upstanding guy, a hard-working family man. He’s smitten with Honor the moment he lays eyes on her. Honor’s starting a new phase in her life. She’s just bought a new house next to Jason, his brother Hogan, and his nephew Colt. She’s determined to do things on her own, even though she has her work cut out for her. She wants to stand on her own 2 feet and tries her hardest to keep her hunky neighbor at arm’s-length. (I can’t help using words like smitten and hunky- this book just calls for those types of words!)
Honor hasn’t had the easiest of upbringings, abandoned by both her parents it’s been just her and her grandfather for many years. With his health slowly declining Honor’s heart is breaking, and to make matters worse she has to deal with ungrateful extended family members. She’s pretty secretive about what’s happening with her life, I think in part because she doesn’t want anyone’s sympathy. The only person she lets in is her best friend, Lexie. Lexie is that friend we should all be so lucky to have! Although the main focus of this book is between Jason and Honor, we also get to enjoy a bit of Lexie and Sullivan- it was almost a story within a story. Although I would have liked to see these two a bit more in depth- Sullivan was quite the fascinating character, I couldn’t quite get a read on him.
I really liked how persistent (without being over-reaching) Jason was with Honor- he gave her the space she needed, but once she opened up to him he never let her close back in on herself. He showed her it was okay to rely on people, that not everyone expected anything in return. Hogan and Colt have been going through a rough time of it recently, and Jason has been there for them as well. He is such a good guy!
Don’t Tempt Me is a sweeter romance than some of Ms. Foster’s recent novels, and I thoroughly enjoyed the getting to know Honor and Jason. And I’m excited to see what is in store for Hogan- and maybe down the road, Colt!

Don’t Tempt Me Was Sweet and Sexy, but Powerfully Complex
What’s more tempting than a sexy, hunky handyman that lives next door? How about a whole neighborhood of single, sexy hunks! With Lori Foster’s latest stand alone novel, Don’t Tempt Me, my first question is, WHERE IS THIS NEIGHBORHOOD AND HOW CAN I MOVE THERE??
When Honor Brown moves into her new (to her) fixer upper, she is more than a bit overwhelmed by all of the work to be done and by all of the sexy men who live nearby. But it is her next door neighbor, Jason Guthrie who is her biggest temptation. Jason recognizes Honor as trouble for him right off the back. But that does not stop him from watching, wondering, and finding ways to be helpful that just might help him break through her walls (pun intended!). Meanwhile, Honor’s friend, Lexie Perkins doesn’t seem to have any walls to speak of and she has her laser like focus on Sullivan Dean, one of Honor’s sexy neighbors. Sullivan, who spends his time as a martial arts teacher for troubled kids, knows how distracting temptation can be and tries hard to resist it.
I loved this book for so many reasons including getting two romances for the price of one! With both romances going on, I truly couldn’t put this one down. Honor and Jason’s story was sweet and emotional and showed the lingering effects that childhood abandonment have on all personal relationships - family, friends and lovers. Lexie and Sullivan’s story was sassy and sexy and showed why you can’t always judge a book by its cover. Plus their story was just plain hot!! The overall theme was that people are wonderfully complex, which means that their love stories will probably be complex too, and have lots of twists and turns. Lori Foster also revived a theme from the Ultimate series and included a MMA gym that trains at risk kids. Nice!!
Overall, Don’t Tempt Me was a powerful commentary on relationships and a beautiful love story (times two!). And how I wish I lived on that street with all those hunks (though my husband would probably have to lock me in the house, lol!)
Definitely don’t miss this treat!

Don’t Tempt Me is a fast paced thrill ride that includes drama, suspense and plenty of breath stealing heat between the sheets. Her couple, the secret keeping, wall erecting, wary heroine and open book hero, are complex, realistic and relatable to readers. Her dialogue is sweet and sassy and fits every character to a tee and using urban renewal as her neighborhood setting is brilliant. But its definitely the chemistry between her duo and really all her characters that makes this yet another Foster shelf keeper!

Yes it’s in an area of Clearbrook Ohio that’s in transition thanks to renewal of the neighborhood and she’s never done any kind of rehab work before, but she’s strong and she’s up for the challenge. She’s not one to ask for help, just ask her best friend Lexie, so when her new hunky neighbor showers her with offers of assistance she doesn’t want to take him up on it but it's a lost cause just like denying she’s not tempted to give into her desire for him.
