Willa Avery created the serum that changed the world as humans, witches, and vampires knew it. Sun Serum 99, the cure for a vampire’s death by sunlight. Many tried to create it, but it took the magic and science of a Grand Elite Caster to perfect it. Despite the fame and recognition that came with this new discovery, the fact remains: Willa was forced by the vampire king of the West to create the one thing she could have used to kill him.
After hiding from the king and his spies for years, she's tired of living in the shadows. She vows to end his reign of terror and return to the man she was stolen from a century ago.
With her two best friends—witches of high rank by her side, and the love of a vampire seeking his own freedom, can Willa destroy the king that ruined her life?

A different twist on witches and vampires that will have you holding your breath along the journey.
This book is a great read for a New Adult (and older) romance reader. You’ve got your paranormal witches and vampires, your scary antagonist, and your hot and sexy moments. Silenced is a quick and fun read that romance readers will love to devour. I found many tropes and similarities between K.N. Lee’s work and the work of the great romance authors of today, and it appears to be working well for her so I congratulate her on this thrilling read, which can easily be completed in one sitting. Perfect for people who love to read paranormal romance, yet have little time to do so. One issue that I had with this novella is that there are so many characters, and this novella is so short we don’t get a lot of time with them getting to know who they are as people. We know a bit of background stories on them, but so much of the story is about the action that we don’t grow very close to them. I’d like to see all the characters be more developed and dive into their history more, as well as learn more about their motivations for doing what they do, but this is really hard to do in such a short format.
I’d also like to see a bit more world building. I could figure out what all the terms meant and what was going on, but I’d like to read more about what everything looks like and how their society works. But this is somewhat of a reader preference, as you’ve got tons of romance authors out there who don’t bother developing the world, they just dive right into the story.
Overall, even though I would’ve like to see more development this is still a fun read. K.N. Lee knows what she’s doing when it comes to romance.
What an awesome short Book!!! I enjoyed this story so much!!!! I loved loved loved Willa's character, I loved the strength that shone through in her every action that was fuelled by her rage that was caused by the one who wronged her. She has such strength but such vulnerability too when she let's the ones are cares for see it. I really liked Kristoff too, you can see he is still the same man he was before he was turned just now stronger and more powerful. I cannot wait to find out what happens next in the next story, to see how things progress with two extremely powerful beings. I loved the ability that Willa has, I have never read anything like it before, so original. Such an amazingly talented author, wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars
Great name and great fun fast read. This is a different twist on the vamps and witches and I loved it. Willa is a great strong character and has a few helpful friends and the possibilities of reclaiming an old love. Great read, fun and fast but worthy of the time. KN Lee never disappoints!!
I kind of like this story though it was sort of strange. There is all these mentions of creatures like vampires and magic and stuff and basically we don't see much happen until the very end, things are just mentioned in passing. Instead the story is more of a love story between two people who have been separated by a common enemy for a hundred years. It was a very easy read and super interesting even though I'm not the romance reader type. I can't wait to read the second book and see the revenge unfold.
I read the prequel from an Anthology set and enjoyed it so much i picked this up. This was a good start but ended too soon. A few faults: it had a few points that didn't line up for me from the prequel (like Lukas was the first vampire she met but she stopped 2 in the prequel from killing and then her fiance was turned), and I felt more like this was another novella vs a full book. Still a good start and i want to read more.
A fast-paced novella-length story with well-developed characters in a well-developed setting (as much as can be in a short work), laying the groundwork for a new series. Enough said, no spoilers from me, be sure to read the book.
In this book we meet Willa who is an elite witch and Kristoff who was set to marry Willa but is now a vampire. We also here of Lukas ( King of Vampires), Zoe (witch) and Stephanie (witch). Willa was taken just before her wedding by Lukas and made to create a serum. Kristoff was turned by Lukas. The pair ave been separated for more than a century and upon there reunion things go wrong. This is a quick read if your looking for something short. Would I recommend this book YES
A fantastic vampire and witch (casters) romance. Willa, a grand elite caster, was kidnapped on her wedding day by the king of the vampires who tortured her for a century to create a serum that would allow vampires to walk in broad daylight which she completed before she could escape. She never saw her soul mate and fiancé again. Forced to live on the run and now discovered by another vampire, she must take her revenge on the vampire king if she ever wants to be free to live her life. I thought I had seen enough vampire romances but this was so uniquely written that I couldn’t put it down. This author excels at creating the perfect atmosphere for her stories. Every detail matches the feel she is trying to create. The style of language, the pace, the clothing, the characters and even the cities. It starts in a large old city in England and concludes in South Carolina. Both of these contribute to the old world gothic feel of the story. The balls and ball gowns, the old estates, the immortality of the vampires and grand elite casters (the highest ranking witches) fits with the feel of the story so perfectly. I also loved how the story starts right at the crux of Willa’s problem and we are given just enough details of past events that we are never left hanging but also not bogged down with a century of past that isn’t relevant to the story. The pace of the story slowly builds almost without the reader being aware of it as the story builds towards the climax. It is quite intense and will definitely have me coming back for the next installment.
I'm hooked! I read a short story, written by K.N. Lee, starring Willa just before she was to be crowned Queen of the Witches, in Rebecca Hamilton's collection of anthologies: 'Not Just Voodoo'. I downloaded this book immediately after as I had to know what happened next! It begins 100 years after the anthology. I was completely consumed by this book! K.N. Lee created a world where Vampires and humans coexist and witches hide their powers. Willa has been in hiding from her captor, the Vampire King, Lukas, for two years. The time for hiding is over when Willa formulates a plan that will release her from the demons she can never escape in her own mind. Willa, along with her fellow Caster and best friend Zoe, set off on a trip that may expose Willa and give her back what she's longed for for 100 years: her stolen life. This is an absolute must-read and an excellent start to what I can only imagine will be a magnificent new series! I can't wait for book two!
It’s not the first book I read of K.N Lee and I love her style. Her books can be read very fast and her characters are charismatic. Silenced is not an exception, Willa has been tortured by the vampire king, we don’t know exactly what he done to her but we are feeling very well her fear. She’s not safe anymore but in the same time, she wants her revenge, she wants him dead and by her hands. The only thing she wants more it’s her fiancé, the one she have before the King took her away. I like Willa and I’m impatient to see her do her magic. I like the fact that she’s trying to be strong. The book is very small, it’s a novella-length novel and the only disappointment is that we don’t know much about the characters. I would have loved to see more, Kristoff, Willa and Zoe, it will give more deep to the story. One thing is sure, I need the next book right now because it’s too short for my own good. I want more and I want a fight. As always K.N Lee enjoyed me with a great book full of Witches and vampires. And I order the paperback on amazon right after reading the book.
Did not see this coming. Love the story line and characters. Was not expecting to be sucked in by the story so easily. With every page I read I was held captive as the story unfolded and progressed. Who knows what happens next, but I intend to find out. Was given free copy for honest review. Glad I didn't pass on the chance.
Silenced is a dark paranormal romance; This is only my second book about Casters that I had read. Now I love reading about Casters. Willa Avery is the Grand Elite Caster and main female caricter in this short book . I am looking forward to reading the next book, because I want to fined out what happends to Willa Avery, the love of her life, and her two sisters.
I received Silenced as a free copy from the author (via InstaFreebie). The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. A very well done short story, and possibly a prequel to a series. The reader understands what's going on, and the author was clear about what happened to put the protagonist on the road to revenge.
Very basic and immature writing. After reading previous reviews, I was all set to really like it ... and I tried. Just couldn't get into it (made it 1/3 of the way through).
