When University of Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill stepped down due to health concerns in October 2015, he said, “I can’t do what I love doing anymore.” What Kill loved doing, and did remarkably well, was turn around college football programs. In this book Coach Kill shares for the first time his inspirational, thought-provoking, and heartwarming story, from his early years playing for and working under Dennis Franchione to guiding the Gophers to a New Year’s Day bowl game and being named Big Ten Coach of the Year. Kill describes his dedication to his players, how he drove them, and made them into disciplined and inspired football players. Readers will also learn about Kill’s work to bring awareness to cancer and epilepsy.
Good read about Coach Kill's ability to turn-around football programs at all levels. It's this plus his treatment and interaction with players, coaches, and administrators. He was truly interested in building human beings. Integrity, honesty, loyalty are just some of the words to describe his work. We should all make ourselves better each day....as was one of his mottoes. Needles to say his family was with him at every level. He also has done so much for cancer and especially epilepsy awareness.
I head him speak at the Big Ten Luncheon in Sarasota, Florida in January, 2018. He is inspiring.
Knowing Jerry during his football career some of the name drops were relevant but I think it would be more challenging if you didn’t know him. Lots of repeating but can also tell it’s definitely Jerry Kill
Inspirational story of coach Kill, yes he is a respected football coach. But the life lessons he teaches go beyond the world of sports. How he dealt with and over came adversity will impress and inspire readers.
