The highly-anticipated sequel to the bestselling Evertaster .
" Fast paced and full of heart! I gobbled up every word of thisbook buffet!" -Frank L. Cole, author of TheAfterlife Academy
Ever since he took a bite of a legendary dessert last summer, twelve-year-old Guster Johnsonville has never been the same. In fact, when a strange little man dressed as a conquistador comes clattering into the barn at the back of the Johnsonville farmhouse one afternoon, he forces Guster to face the Guster is now the most delicious thing in the whole world, and a terrible monster is coming to eat him.
The monster is one of the Yummies--a pack of horrible, ferocious creatures with an appetite for sweets. What other choice do Guster, Zeke, and Mariah have than to run away from home to escape the mysterious beast?
On the run in a far corner of the world, Guster and his siblings discover a secret settlement known as the Delicious City. Now, with the Yummies hot on their trail and the Delicious City's Mayor determined to feed Guster to the beasts, Guster must embrace his talents as an Evertaster if he's going to save the city from collapsing and get his family out alive.
In between books, Adam Glendon Sidwell uses the power of computers to make monsters, robots and zombies come to life for blockbuster movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean, King Kong, Transformers and Tron. After spending countless hours in front of a keyboard meticulously adjusting tentacles, calibrating hydraulics, and brushing monkey fur, he is delighted at the prospect of modifying his creations with the flick of a few deftly placed adjectives. He's been eating food since age 7, so feels very qualified to write this book. He once showed a famous movie star where the bathroom was. Adam currently lives in Los Angeles, where he can't wait to fall into the sea.
Evertaster: The Delicious City by Adam Glendon Sidwell is a book I tried hard to get into but just could not. Nothing seemed humorous, things seemed flat to me. I liked the idea, I liked some of the characters and the plot line, but there was nothing to make it POP. I was given this book to read and I volunteered my review. The cover is adorable.
Evertaster: The Delicious City by Adam Glendon Sidwell, is a delightfully fun culinary adventure. The second novel in a series, it opens with 12 year old Guster tasting something exciting in his tuna sandwich. That something is danger, and Guster, his sister & brother soon embark on a whirlwind adventure to meet it. A story full of quirkiness & laughter - it is sure to appeal to kids. The unique ideas Sidwell brings readers about the power of taste, as well as the strong bond of family - will no doubt make this novel a popular choice for families to read together as well.
I loved this book! So much fun! It's the perfect recipe for edge-of-your-seat action, topped with a gigantic dollop of a hidden city you'll want to sink your teeth into.
A unique premise and a story exceptionally well told.
A delightful fantasy tale, but possibly not one to read if you're hungry as it's likely to send your stomach grumbling with jealousy!
A vividly imaginative story with some quirky, infectiously likeable characters.
This unusual, humorous adventure has definite appeal for all ages. Well paced, plenty of action and it has some decidedly weird, and sometimes scary, monsters!
A fun read, easy to devour, and a very satisfying indeed!
I received a free copy. I chose to post my honest, independent review.
As the title suggests, yes, this book will take you to the Delicious City. My mouth watered and I had this strong compulsion to eat ice cream. I imagined pistachio, mint chocolate, dark chocolate cinnamon and matcha green tea flavored delectable ice cream. But since, I was reading this in the middle of the night and we don't have any ice cream in the fridge to satisfy my craving, I just opted to reminisce those wonderful days of eating gelato. Yum!
Warning: You should not read this book on an empty stomach. This will definitely make you hungrier, if not Hangry!(Combination of Hungry and angry) A lot of delicious food and mouth-watering desserts are mentioned here. Your stomach will doubtlessly react violently to the sumptuous menu prepared and served in this story.
This story is both entertaining and hilarious. Especially, characters that were named after food. I also liked the fact that Guster, the main character loves cinnamon. I so love cinnamon too. Once, I had tried eating cinnamon rolls everyday for breakfast for more than a week. It felt like I had eaten my year's supply of cinnamon. I actually did not eat cinnamon rolls for months after that. I found out that cinnamon should be taken in little doses to be more enjoyable. I still love it and still eat it sparingly. As much as I can get it, any food with cinnamon, just not everyday.
Back to Guster. This adventure of his is probably the most delicious adventure of all. If being an evertaster is true, I would like to be one. I would like to taste the emotion felt by the chef or person making the food. It would be both fascinating and scary at the time. I think it would make me appreciate more the amount of effort put into creating the gastronomical creations. Not to mention, the amount of love and dedication extended to find exotic ingredients. It would be good to know where the food came from. What obstacles the farmers or the merchants had to undergo to get the vegetables and other products to the end users. It would be a lesson not to waste anything.
I admit, I am a foodie. I love dining out and trying new food and restaurants. I love to travel too and love to try other cuisines. I also love street food but after I was hospitalized for gastroenteritis, I had been a little careful after that. So, this book undeniably caught the foodie in me. If my copy were a paperback, I would have probably nibbled on the pages of this book.
I give this book 5/5 ice cream cones. I am looking forward to the next culinary adventures of Guster and his family. This made me want to continue to learn to bake. Not that I have given up. I just realized that baking is a relaxing activity for me and I would prefer doing it without any distractions. I want to be able to put all my attention and focus on the pastry. I'd prefer to bake alone or be left alone. Besides, I follow the instructions of tried and tested recipes on the internet which so far have worked for me. One thing I know is that the quality of the flour and other ingredients would matter on how the goodies would turn out.
Wish you well. May wonderful tastes always find you. - Adam Glendon Sidwell, Evertaster: The Delicious City -

This is one of those rare cases where I opened up a book not knowing that it was part of a series. Not that I mind reading series; it’s just that it was the second book. Terrible of me not to do research before I started I know. But whatever. I don’t mind. So, to the review proper.
This book is awesome. Like, you don’t know. I mean, it’s about food, and people who taste food. And emotions! And adventures! And magic… Um, maybe not quite that much. But wait, let’s back up a little.
First, this is not an adult book—although that shouldn’t stop any adult from reading it, honestly. This is a middle-grade fantasy adventure set in modern times. The story? There’s this twelve-year-old boy who can taste things to the nth degree and apparently he’s also very tasty. A giant monster arrives at his house to eat him, so he runs away with his brother and sister to keep his family safe (This part seemed really contrived to me when I read it, but I guess you need to have a way to move the plot forward so…). Adventures happen. They travel north to another state, then to the other side of the world, and then, things really start ramping up.
It’s a very light, easy read. The plot was engaging and fast-paced. There were some twists here and there, some of them more predictable than others. I wasn’t too crazy about the characters at first, but they grew on me a fair bit by the end.
What hooked me completely was the descriptions of all the food. Or more specifically, ice cream. I’ve never read a book—a children’s novel no less!—about the taste of ice cream. I know that if I’ve had ice cream in the house at the time, I’d probably would have gotten a large bowl of it while I read. It’s great. Ice cream can redeem anything.
I read the first book in this series with my children and we all loved it so we were excited to hear about this book! We read it together and loved this one as well! Guster's last adventure set some things into motion and now, almost a year later, it's time to deal with what's happening. He learns that a monster named Yummy is after him since he is now the most delicious thing in the world. He sets off with his brother, Zeke, and sister, Mariah, to keep the rest of his family safe.
There's so much to love about this book! The characters are fantastic. There's humor in their names and mannerisms and they are fun to get to know. They also need to figure out who they can trust if they want to get out of some sticky situations. The location is creative--there's an entire city that is hard to find and so different than what they are used to.
This is the second book in this series and probably won't work too well as a standalone since there are lots of references to what happened in the past. I loved that there were characters from the first book that made appearances in this one. I love how the entire family is involved in Guster's story. There's definitely more story to be told so I'm looking forward to reading the next book in this series!
I received a complimentary copy via I Am a Reader, which did not affect my review in any way
This story is an absolute blast, an incredible medley of deliciously described flavors and epic low fantasy. It actually made me want ice cream, lol, while simultaneously giving me an exciting, entertaining, and just pure fun ride. More than one of the plot twists completely threw me, and the deeper we got, the more I adored everything that was this novel. It’s fun, it’s genius, and it is truly and genuinely unique—an awesome tale for more than just the MG crowd.

Guster Johnsonville A 12-year-old from a farm. The author speaks of Wisconsin briefly and I love the fact that the boys last name is Johnsonville and there is a place called Johnsonville, Wisconsin.
What an amazing thought, I start reading only to be able to relate to Guster or should I say at least his imagination that takes him too worlds we can only dream of, the book immediately captured my attention then.
It is fascinating how Guster knows his mom is amazing in the kitchen and he prefers her cooking above all but he finds amazing and dangerous ventures in every bite.
This author Adam Glendon Sidwell is a favorite of mine because he design the monsters from a lot of movies I enjoy especially Pacific Rim.
How are your childhood dreams and adventures through this book and this Series it is delicious.

HE ENDS UP IN THE CITY OF EL ELADO THAT IS MADE OF ICE CREAM AND THAT IS REALLY WHERE THE FUN AND EXCITEMENT START. GUSTER MUST USE HIS TASTING ABILITY TO HELP THE CITY FROM BEING DESTROYED.
