Humor, sincere emotions and lots of steamy passion can be found in CHASING DREAMS. The story is filled with plenty of wit and candid remarks, a familiar feature in a book by S.L. Carpenter. I have always enjoyed the imagination of this talented author, as he writes scenes that I can easily picture happening in real life. With some touching moments tossed in from time to time, I came to really care about the romantic couple, and whether they would end up together or go their separate ways.

In a long-term relationship which has given her little happiness, Michelle knows the time for her to make some changes is overdue. Deciding to leave a self-centered boyfriend behind is easy, but choosing what to do next will take some careful planning. Before moving somewhere else, Michelle is going to visit with her mother and think everything through. She takes a train to get back to her hometown, and it just happens to be February 28 when she heads out. Perhaps with the next day being a Leap Year’s Day, it will be the beginning of a better chapter in her life.

The first night Michelle goes to her compartment, a surprise is waiting for her. It seems a partygoer on the train mistakenly got into her room and fell asleep. Since he is not in the way, she lets him sleep but does watch him closely. Though he is gone the next morning, Michelle runs into Josh again later. With the trip lasting a few days, it gives the couple time to have long conversations and more, where they discover there is much to like.

If I am reading a book by S.L. Carpenter, then I know there will always be some hilarity sprinkled throughout the story. I could not keep the chuckles contained during several scenes, as the author had the characters making comments that perfectly fit the situation. Then there were the visuals I pictured in my mind, and more laughs erupted. Josh and Michelle have not been very lucky when it comes to relationships, so I enjoyed seeing them share some very genuine experiences with each other. A few of the interactions between Michelle and her mother were also openly frank and seemed believable. While much of Mr. Carpenter’s book is centered on amusement, there are numerous instances where heartfelt feelings are expressed with much honesty. When it comes to sexual encounters, Michelle and Josh know what they want and do not hold back, resulting in many scenes where fantasies are fulfilled and satisfaction is guaranteed. Though not a long story, CHASING DREAMS has all the right ingredients to make it delightfully entertaining.

I received Chasing Dreams for free in return for an honest review.

This is a quick read, at least for me, about a woman in a horrible relationship who leaves her boyfriend while he's in the shower.
She goes back home for a little while to get her head together and while on the train there meets a guy.
She first meets him when she comes upon him sleeping, by mistake, in her sleeper.. There's a fling, a pretty hot fling and they both leave the train at the same town.
Turns out the guy went to the same school she did, and they were in the same class. Running into her on the train, then into her in his room was a dream come true for him, as we had, frankly, worshiped her from afar.

Now for the corrective bits. As an experienced copy-editor and a professionally trained proofreader, mistakes tend to jump out at me.
In the first chapter she reads her horoscope in the midst of leaving her boyfriend, and on the next page the passage is exactly the same, except she's calling her mother. Another thing is, in the first chapter she thinks upon her wasted two year relationship, then later in the beginning of the fling, muses about just getting out of a four year relationship.
Pretty good though, and true to Mr. Carpenter's talented pen, steamy as hell.

Chasing Dreams was a good book, not great but good. The thing I did not like about it was the immediate erotica novel with no back story or build up. I'm just not a fan of that. I like my books to have a story and not just throw you into sex. Having said that, it did have a story later that was good. It was really well written, just not necessarily my cup of tea. The writing style is really unique with a bit of humor thrown in every once in a while, and I did enjoy that. I will continue to check out more books by this author, since he does have a great writing style, but probably wouldn't read this one again.

Michelle is stuck in a bad relationship, and doesn't know how to escape. She feels like she has wasted time with Keith because she didn't want to be lonely. When she finally hits her breaking point, she decides to leave and grab her dream job in the process. What she doesn't expect is to fall in love on her way.

I'm really enjoying reading stories written by author S.L. Carpenter because his storytelling is sexy, unique, humorous and the witty dialogue has me grinning as I'm reading. I loved reading his latest release, Chasing Dreams and devoured it. I liked the two main characters Michelle and Josh who were freaking hot together. I enjoyed the realism in the scenes throughout the book. It was great to see Michelle take control of her own life and go after her own dreams. The author's writing in one of the scenes moved me deeply and brought me to tears. He is able to make me laugh, cry and get turned on all in one story. There is nothing better in my opinion if an author can tap into these different emotions and the reader can feel them while reading.

This was a great story! I really enjoyed it!
Michelle is tired of her life. Her boyfriend is a selfish jerk, her office has just shut the doors due to downsizing and she is moving on. On the train home to be with her family, she meets Josh. They have a quick fling but it means so much more, they just haven't realized it yet.
When she gets home, she realizes she and Josh have history. She just hadn't recognized him. However, she is determined to move on with her life and is unwilling to stay in her hometown for the rest of her life. Josh, on the other hand, is set to inherit the family business and can't leave.
This is the story of how they work it out. It is well worth reading. SL Carpenter has done it again, providing a lovely story that sucks you in.

This Train Trip Jerked Too Much

Michelle, fleeing a bad relationship, encounters hot and steamy times with Josh, a guy she doesn't quite remember from her hometown. I never sank into the plot or the characters, and the humor seemed to come out of left field, always landing for me, at odd, not amusing.
