Hardy Somerville was Delilah Thomas’ first love. At eight years old, before she even knew what love was, she knew how it felt.

Then came music.

She’d thought at least music couldn’t hurt her. That was until it led her straight into the path of Cat Colton.

He promised he’d protect her, but how could he protect her from himself?

Born in London, Isobel Hart's childhood was spent in the Middle East before being sent to boarding school. It meant she had a lot of time to read. Now based in the UK, she writes about what she knows - real women, with flaws.

A romantic at heart, happily married for nearly twenty-five years, her novels focus on relationships - good and bad - and the women at the heart of them. She is ever hopeful others will find their happy-ever-afters or Happy-For-Nows too.

To date Isobel has published five contemporary romance novels

What Goes Around Comes Around - Part 1 of Lily's Story
Full Circle - Part 2 of Lily's Story
Compromise Agreement
Cold Comfort - Part 1 of Cold Comfort
The Other One

Still Life - sci-fi / dystopian - but still with a hefty helping of romance

That Certain Spark - Chick-lit with (you guessed it) some romantic themes

This new release by Isobel Hart is definitely very different from her previous books. This one is geared strongly to the New Adult crowd and for those who love spending time with overly possessive, out of control alpha males! And, you can't get more out of control and possessive than CAT... the lead singer of Cold Comfort.
This book centers around Delilah and her two first loves and all the drama and heartbreak that comes along with it. She has Hardy, the boy she met as a child who she always thought was destined to be her true love. And when she gets older she finds Cat, the lead singer of a band called Cold Comfort. This is a book where people are clearly defined by their social status, and when the two worlds collide things get a little bit ugly. Delilah seems to be always caught in the middle of both worlds, struggling to find where she belongs and learning not to trust. Trust leads to betrayal and broken hearts. She learns to guard herself. But, her musical talent is something that is hard to hide. It forces her out into the open world.
Delilah just can't seem to keep herself from falling in love with the wrong people at the wrong time. And, that is perhaps the point of the book. Because it did not end in the way I expected. But, after thinking about it for a couple of days I am proud of Delilah for being strong enough to put herself first. There is a right way and a wrong way to show love to someone. Sometimes you have to be brave enough to love yourself first.
I do have some favorite scenes in this book. I loved the beginning chapters and the time she spend with Hardy when they were kids. I felt through the entire book that this is who she truly belonged with despite the difficult circumstances surrounding them both. He was my favorite between the two love interests in the story. I really wanted more of her and Hardy. Still do!
I also loved the scenes where she was writing lyrics to her songs, and especially the one where she was writing with Cat, the lead singer of Cold Comfort. There was a very touching and beautiful moment between them where they were truly connected by their musical talent.
I loved Cat when he was calm and tender but began to really hate him as the story moved forward. He was too controlling, too aggressive and definitely overly possessive. He could not be trusted. I actually didn't care for anyone in the band at all. They treated women badly, they treated themselves badly and were a reckless and toxic bunch.
The only saving grace for Delilah was her best friend Eddy. He was probably the only man in her life that was ever truly on her side. He always took such good care of her and was a true friend. True friendship was something she was indeed lacking.
This was a very engaging story and had me quickly turning the pages. And, it did leave me with a lot of unanswered questions. But the author says that Delilah's story is not yet finished so yes, there will be a second book. So... that's good news! I do want to see some sort of resolution for these characters.
This is a book that I would recommend for fans of New Adult Romance. But, if you love books that focus on older more mature characters I would recommend some of this author's earlier releases. I've loved everything she has written so far, but I tend to be more of a fan of books that center around mature, older characters so just throwing that out there in case you are the same.
This book does contain explicit sex scenes including public and group sex. There is also some cheating and plenty of girls behaving badly. So, if that's not your thing then proceed with caution.

Many thanks to the author for the ARC copy!

Really, really liked this. I very rarely go into a book completely blind, but for some reason I did it with this one, and I'm very glad I did. If I had read any reviews or even knew there would be a second book, I probably wouldn't have read it, or at least waited until the second one was released. I regret nothing, though!
The book was really engaging and written in such a way that I could not stop reading. But the best part of the book, in my opinion, and the reason I loved it so much, was the heroine (and that is such a rare thing for me to like in romancelandia....). She was fun, talented and focused on herself. And most importantly, she had self worth.
We're introduced to two different male interests, and both of them . This, in any other case, would have made me DNF in a second. Here though, I stuck with it. And I realised why I hate so much in romance novels (except for the obvious reasons) and why here, I didn't care that much, although I was a bit disappointed, especially with Cat. I hate it, because the female leads in a vast majority of romances are doormats, who at the slightest touch from the hero, just crumble to pieces and forgive and forget. In this case though, this girl has enough self worth that she never accepted anything less than what she deserved. It was refreshing to see.
The male interests, Hardy and Cat were also really good, even though they were . But they were written in such a way that I understood where they were coming from. They were both just so crazy jealous and possessive, especially Cat, I couldn't help but like them (I can't even believe I'm saying this..).
I only hope that Delilah continues to be her bad-ass self in the next book, and that it comes out as soon as possible.

Wow….I started this story with a very blank mind and an open heart because I have had moments where i truly disagreed(though understood) with the way the author ended a story. With this story all I have to say is Bravo Ms Hart. BRAVO! This was beautiful. I loved it it the way you love an innocent child. Fiercely and gently all at once. This was the story of youthful naivety, heartbreak, standing up for good no matter how scared you are and at the end of the day staying true to yourself. This is a story that shows that GOOD things come to those who are good. This story is MUCH MUCH more than a rags to riches story. This is the nitty gritty climb upward and out of crappy situations into your dreams. This was steady paced from go and ran me through a gamut of emotions for someone i didn’t even know. Coming of age is an understatement. I seriously am holding my breath waiting for the next book. The ending was one of those endings that made me tear up and get so damn happy that i couldn’t stop smiling and feeling like i needed to burst into tears. I was so ready for delilah to burst forth and take over the world. I will wait impatiently for the next part of this story. My feelings were certainly invested and i am grateful that I somehow came upon this author.

This is my first book by this Author and I will definitely be checking out her other books! I enjoyed reading this story and felt like I spent time with the main character, Delilah and watched her mature and grow. She went through some things that had me wanting to throw my Kindle at times! There were also many sweet moments that I got to experience with her and they had me sighing at times. I love the music aspect and found myself looking up songs on YouTube very often while reading. I am hoping this Author writes more about these characters, I would love to know where they go in life.

I have read and enjoyed all this writer's books but this one is by far the best - so far. I simply could not put it down and I can't wait for the next one. This author has a huge talent and it is a pleasure to watch it develop and grow. Her characters have depth and the story combines reality with imagination plus some great suspense. Well done!

Just a big freaking mess. Both guys screw around with other girls even tho they both profess to love her. She ends up alone at the end. Note to Author, crazy in love, jealous, possessive heroes don't cheat because they are so nuts insane over h.
