What do you think of friendship? Is it synonymous to love? Can you spend your whole life with your best friend? Do you value friends more than your life? If the all the questions’ answers are yes, then this book is a must read one for you. Ayushi Jain, in her debut novel, wrote about friendship, bonding and love and as you turn page after page, the novel did not leave a single chance to surprise you.

Unofficially Yours is a saga of strong friendship. It is a story of friends, of both the sex, who are trying to balance their new job in a new city with their personal life. They are known to break rules while in college but the one rule that was strictly followed by the gang is ‘no couple policy’. So what if someone from the gang falls in love with his/her best friend? Will they be able to confess in front of other friends? Will it break their strong bonds? Will it affect the relations between ten people? Or they will choose to forget about love to maintain their Single status?

What I like about the book

Ayushi has beautifully written about all the dilemmas about falling in love with your best friend and its consequences. For once, we all have felt something for our best friends of opposite sex. Many has already confessed and living their happily ever after. But it surely changes the equations and Unofficially Yours has dealt beautifully with them.

The story is good and fresh. There is everything, friendship, love, pain, heartbreak, broken relations and chase after dreams. Ayushi has done a good job in handling the story. While reading the book, you don’t get bored rather you get interested in what’s in the next page. The book will surely take ypu down the memory lane to your college days and the struggling period.

There was not a single part where you have to pause for lack of continuity. The flow is good and expressions are adequate in all places.

The editing and the cover are also good.

What I didn’t like about the book

Well, the only thing that I didn’t like about the book is the font of the letters and the spacing. The publishers unnecessarily added more spacing between the lines and used larger fronts to increase the volume of the book. The author doesn’t play any role in it and so the company should be honest in handling these things.

Overall, a good book. Do read it and you can be sure that it will surely make you fall in love again.

A book full of life, and love!

Unofficially Yours: A Saga Of Friends Who Fell In Love

Ayushi Jain’s Unofficially Yours is the kind of book that will make your lost faith in love alive once more. The very title of the book hints at the theme of the novel, yet keeping you seated till the last page. We have come across many love stories, but this one very strongly promises to offer you with something out of the box.

The story starts off very normally with the Farewell of the narrator Rajveer (RV)’s batch. He was an engineering student, and the story is from his point of view. The incidents are extremely relatable and the minutest details by the author make us completely get into the story. The interesting most part of the story comes very shortly where the characters are introduced in a unique way. It makes the readers identify themselves as a member of their group, the “Gyaanis”.

There is a void feeling at the beginning when the “Gyaanis” graduate and shift to Pune for their jobs. In many cases, the story of friendship ends there only, but in this novel, the story accelerates from there. The protagonist Arohi is a year junior than Rajveer’s group and hence she addresses them as “Sir”. It is extremely noteworthy the way they become acquainted with each other and come close. They fall head over heels for each other but at the same time refuses to admit because of the group’s rule of having no relationships within the group members. Hence, they decide to keep it only between themselves and it completely justifies the title.

We get a glimpse of how against all odds they manage to retain the relationship. We get the fun of a group party when the Gyaani’s went to the Goa Trip. We get the feel of their nervousness when they go for the Kolad trip and become completely each other’s. The story goes on beautifully depicting their love and the ending is pure delight for the readers.

After the story ends, the readers are filled with extreme joy and get another surprise from the book! There are the portraits of all the Gyaanis at the back of the book. Hence, we do not just read the story, but live it. The journey from just friends to being lovers of RV and Arohi is not just a story, but a complete roller coaster ride of an emotional journey.

Favorite lines: “I think theme of our engagement was not just Fairy World, It was more or less a Happily Ever After."

The book is, as the author would say, a waoo!

The best gift of an author is to isolate herself from the context and provoke reader's imagination so that they can form and relate to their own world. 'Unofficially yours' cast its magic and I, as a reader, had no option but to sink in. If you as a reader flipping through first few pages feel unimpressed, just keep reading; the story shifts gears fast, captivates all your attention and curiosity and towards the end leaves you smiling; smiling as you wonder the honestly, the simplicity, the desperation and the power of true love.

I completed reading a romantic novel after a long time and I can say that Sunday evening has been well spent with this book by a debutante authoress, Ayushi Jain. The name of the book is "Unofficially Yours" which comes with a tagline "Saga of friends who fell in love". I have seen such a good cover page, binding and the over all quality of publishing for any book after a very long time. Partridge publishers should be applauded for the great work done with this novel. The only problem is the size of the book which looks like a textbook of some engineering subject. It should have been of the standard size so that reading it while traveling could have been little easy.

Well talking about the authoress, I would say that as a debutante, it is quite evident that she has been following several other Indian authors while writing this book as it's written almost in the similar fashion. And it is also evident that she is not a borne writer but because she had a story, she chose to share it with the world. I must say considering that, this book is surely a good attempt in terms of the narration. It's very easy and the way two protagonists are treated is really special. You can connect with them and their personalities very easily. I have little problem with the author for not involving other characters in the story which makes the purpose of introducing almost 15-16 characters in this book a wasted effort. The way parents of both the protagonist and also the sister is discussed is nice but what about friends and Priya's husband etc? Author should have given little more time in developing sub-plots for those characters too.

The first half is more about how the whole group named "Gyaanis" enjoy their adventures and thrills. They have a rule that no one in their group should get committed among themselves. But the entrance of Arohi in the group changes it as Rajveer falls in love with her. She keeps reminding him of the rule but he keeps telling her that everything is justified in love. Finally both of them falls in love but parents come in between and spoils the whole affair particularly in the second half of the book. The Gyaanis also leave both of them alone which changes the whole scenario of the story. And then the book takes a Bollywood-ish turn which I found quite silly.

I liked the simplicity of the book and the narration. I also liked few conversations between the character after they fall in love with each other. Author has also managed to describe different locations very wonderfully in the book. It seems as if she wanted the reader to imagine him/herself at the spot while reading those segments. The chapters are also divided well. Coming to the drawback of the book, I would say that few grammatical and basic mistakes are a real disappointment. A professional editor could have helped this book become more crisp and perfect. I found it very silly to find the female protagonist always reminding the boy about the rule. Like who does this in today's world? Rest, I would say as a debutante, this is a fine attempt and a light read which will be a great companion while traveling. I give this 2.75* out of 5.

Thanks.

I never wrote a single review for any novel before, but this novel made me to write about it for the very first time.I must admit that writing reviews is not an easy task at all, and writing a book with all the ingredients put together in perfect balance is even more difficult than anything else. And this novel has definitely passed on every parameter that a novel must possess. Its a beautiful piece of impressive writing and very well narrative script. This being author's first novel surely has managed to touch the audience's heart and soul.I always feel that a good novel is that which makes you imagine about the story and its characters, and the style of writing the author has showcased thru this novel justifies that statement. Its always hard to maintain the pace in stories like these, but the author did justice to what she wrote and there was no sign of boredom faced while reading it. There were so many things which one could relate thru this tale of friends who fell in love, some from the college days, some from the company days and some from the personal relationships.Sometime it brings tears to your eyes, and at times it brings smile to your face.Everything is blended together so very well that it stands out as the novel which is a must read for everyone.

To say the least, its that kind of a book which attracts its readers and makes them experience the sheer joy of being in friendship and relationship together.

Honestly speaking i am not a regular reader when it comes to reading books, but this one is is just awesome. it will keep you attached to it until you complete it reading and believe me its just awesome simply awesome. While reading i can relate the most of the things to my college life and i just relived all of it thanks to the author. The moment I fixed my eyes onto the surface of the first page of the book, my feet as if set foot onto the world of what I was reading. I became the main character himself. Marvelous really it is to say how amazing the approach of the main character's perspective to me as a reader. Truly effective. A perfect thing to add up is that the perspective used in the story is from guy's character, considering that it gives perfect justice to how a guy thinks, utters, and acts.

At last a must read from my side to everyone else.. :)

Unofficially yours is a story which, most of the people will be able to relate at some point or another.
Though I am not that kind of person who reads without break :P but since the very beginning, 'Unofficially Yours' kept me entangled and I completed it in a single day.
And the speech at the end.. It was so touchy!! That was the best part according to me smile emoticon
To sum up, I will say 'Unofficially Yours' is a story of love, friendship and family which is so gorgeously written.. Thanks ayushi jain for the lovely Novel... :)
