This is the second Denise Mina crime thriller I've read after reading Garnethill a few years ago. Mina keeps this story tense and taut throughout set in the pariochial seaside town of Helensburgh, revealing an underbelly of crime and drug-taking not outwardly associated with this gentile backwater on the Firth of Clyde. I would thoroughly recommend this to tartan noir aficionados.
