********Be sure to read “Episode #0, Becoming”******** Patrice is finally comfortable in her life as a gorgon. By day, she rules the Mt. Olympus reception area with a fist of iron, a glare of stone, and a headful of snakes. After hours, she sneaks around “borrowing” magical items from other departments to aid in her secret missions to help people behind the scenes. She thinks she’s covered her tracks until a powerful goddess comes to her for a favor. If Patrice agrees to help, she could start a war with all the witches of ancient Greece. But if she refuses, she could anger the most powerful witch of all.

Undercover Gorgon: Episode #1 - Witches War (Undercover Gorgon: A Mt. Olympus Employment Agency Miniseries) by R.L. Naquin is a delightfully, devilishly good book that made me smile many times! I love this Gorgon! This time she gets "hired" to "borrow" things to aid a secret mission. But there is always more to this place then it seems. The story is fun and crazy and never dull. The stories are short but full of everything you want but MORE! We need a full novel eventually... Love the short ones while we have them. Great job.
On this episode, Patrice the Gorgon is being asked for help by Hecate -- the goddess of witches and necromancy -- to retrieve a golden cat's eye that grants the power of sight. It has been stolen by either one or all of the Stygian Witches.
It was a pretty fun adventure. While I'm not sure whether I am eager enough to keep reading about Patrice stealingborrowing magical items, but at least it gets things done.
Next episode seems to be about Circe's missing daughter!
I absolutely loved the first book and had to get the rest and I love this series. The characters are written in a manner you love them quickly. And the story sucks you in quickly. I highly recommend this series, as it's become one of my favorites of this year.
"Undercover Gorgon: Episode #1 - Witches War" (Undercover Gorgon: A Mt. Olympus Employment Agency Miniseries) by R.L. Naquin is a fun filled novella full of suspense and mythological characters and creatures from Ancient Greece. Patrice has been working after hours doing the near impossible for employees and the mythological creatures of the Mt. Olympus Employment Agency. As the front desk receptionist, she is in a unique position to know the comings and goings of the agency along with all the paperwork that goes with the job. She uses her resourcefulness to borrow magical items from various departments to complete her self imposed tasks. She just hopes that upper management continues to remain oblivious to her actions. But one day, a mysterious character comes to her front desk requesting her help since it is rumored that she is able to get stuff done. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this novella. It is very well written and held my attention the entire time. I can't wait to read the next episode.
(3.5 Stars) Okay, to be totally honest, I was quite disappointed to discover "Undercover Virgin: Witches War" is only 46 pages. See, after reading Book One, the prequel novella (25 Pages), I just knew book one would be a full fledged novel.
Anyway, gorgon, Patrice has adjusted to her new life as receptionist at a paranormal employment agency on Mt Olympus and she has continued to moonlight after hours as a undercover recovery specialist/ detective and has garnered quite the reputation. However, she is shocked when she is approached by none other the Queen of Witches herself, Hecate. Hecate wants Patrice to recover a tiger's eye stolen from her by none other than the blind triplet sisters, the Stygian's witches. According to Greek mythology, these blind triplets were outfitted by Perseus when he stole the eye they shared.
Patrice must try to recover the eye and return it to Be cared without starting a war. This will be the trickiest task yet. Will Patrice be up for the job? As I stated earlier, I enjoyed this read but just wished this was a full novel rather than a novella!
This is an original, entertaining and amusing novella that continues the trials, tribulations and daily life of Patrice, the gorgon, working at Mt. Olympus. In this enjoyable episode, Hecate, Queen of the Underworld, needs some help that that could end up in disaster for Patrice. Each episode forms a complete little story, but it does help if you read them in order, otherwise you miss the important bits. Episode #1 - Witches War is a continuation of the novella Undercover Gorgon: Episode #0 - Becoming. I also recommend the two books currently available in the Mt. Olympus Employment Agency series by R.L. Naquin. They are set in the same world and share many of the same, Greek Mythology characters.
Meet Patrice, who upon turning twenty. found out she was a descendant of Medusa, the fierce queen of the Gorgons. Patrice is whisked away from her home and her parents and placed in a world of mythological Gods and Goddesses and mythical creatures.
Here she becomes part of the Mt. Olympus Employment Agency. Her job as a receptionist puts her in an unique position. She gets to bark out orders and help out those who need her but Patrice has a side hobby - she likes to "borrow" magical items and help out others with odd jobs. Her last odd job was removing a basilisk from under a porch.
Now a powerful Goddess has come to ask her for help retrieve something that was taken from her. If Patrice refuses, it could be the end of her. So what is a Gorgon to do?
Have mentioned that I love this series? It may be short and sweet but it keeps you turning the pages until the end. I absolutely love the way the mythology is used. It is fun and unique and enjoyable. Patrice is an interesting and put in a spot where she knows she cannot refuses a Goddess. Plus the Goddess knows of her late-night borrowing of magical items.
I had never read anything by R.L. Naquin before but I think now I have found another favorite author!
