He keeps it all; from 1980s Argos catalogues to out-of-date tins of plum tomatoes. Why would he throw things out? They might come in handy one day.
The problem is that he’s lost a set of keys – not the ones for his house, this set is far more vital than that. They’ve been promised to someone else, someone really important.
At a loss of what to do, he calls in private investigator Andrew Hunter and his feisty sidekick to help. It’s time for a spring clean and, for poor old Jim, it really might be life or death…

Kerry Wilkinson has sold more than two million books - and had No.1 crime bestsellers in the UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa and Singapore. He has also written two top-20 thrillers in the United States. His book, Ten Birthdays, won the RNA award for Young Adult Novel of the Year in 2018 and Close To You won the International Thriller Award for best ebook in 2020.
As well as his Jessica Daniel series, Kerry has written a trilogy featuring private investigator Andrew Hunter, the Whitecliff series, the Silver Blackthorn trilogy - a fantasy-adventure serial for young adults - plus numerous standalone novels. He has been published around the world in more than a dozen languages.
Originally from the county of Somerset, Kerry spent way too long living in the north of England, picking up words like 'barm' and 'ginnel'.
When he's short of ideas, he rides his bike, hikes up something, or bakes cakes. When he's not, he writes it all down.
It has been good following the year with this author and with Easter we have reached March. When a serial hoarder has an urgent need to find a set of keys he employs a couple of private investigators. This short book is full of comic situations but has a series message with deadly intent.
Why don't you finish your books? It's like you're too lazy to end them. It's frustrating to read a book and not have an ending. It's ridiculous and I'm probably not reading your books any longer. I like the books where you have an actual ending but most of them don't. A twist ending is exactly that, not no ending. You finish your Jessica Daniel books so you know what an ending is. You just choose not to do that. I'm very disappointed in you, you were one of my favorite authors but not now.
'January' and 'March' are advertised as AH short stories, but there was no mention of him in January. Both took less than 15 minutes to read. Would rather have put £1.48 towards a full story. Not sure if I missed something but also thought I might find out what happened to Jenny's brother? Enjoying KW books now I have discovered them, but don't rate these short stories.
I have read a lot of Kerry's books so when I saw that this one had been released I was keen to grab a copy. It is an easy to read novella that I read in a few hours and I did enjoy it overall.
The only thing really that let it down for me was that it isn't as detailed as some of the longer books (I am assuming that this is due to it being a novella although some authors do manage to get the same level of detail in) and that does affect the strength of the story - three stars from me for this one but have read some of Kerry's recent releases and they have probably been his best works so far so this one certainly hasn't put me off!
