It's OK.

There is some useful information in this book, chiefly regarding statistics. The book length is small making this an easy read, but there were only minor things that I found helpful. While I made highlights along the way, I don't see myself reading this book again.

The author walks you through his four-step process he goes through before writing a book.

1. How to pick a category that produces well for self-publishers
2. How to research the topic and generate additional ideas within the topic
3. How to use the gathered research to find a niche in the topic
4. How to check the demand for the niche to insure it will sell

This book gives you so many tips on top selling writing categories! It also gives lots of links on trying to figure out Keyword searches that will help you discover topics to write about and get your book read after you write it.

I must reread it

I've had this in my tbr. I read it in one day and feel a bit better. A lot of reinforcement of things I've learned. Looking for a new style of writing. I have a few books by this author. So I'm surprised but not surprised.

You didn't need many words to state this point. So the brevity is a boon. However, with such short length, more substance would be desired.

It's great for new authors. Amazing in fact for someone who has yet to write a book.

I will reread it and take notes for everything new.

However, it's simply telling authors if you're going to make money. You must write to market.

I can't argue against it.

I just don't like the reality of it as an author yet to really breakthrough. The missing factor is I wrote everything for myself and from my life experience. But I haven't written books people actually give a duck about. It hurts.

But I added an extra star to pad against my hurt feelings. 4 stars. Closest to a 3 than a 4.

Great content

This book has great content easy to understand. This in my option is a must read. Wow the ideas are flowing after reading this book. "Bravo!" to the author and thank you for the insight. Please buy this book if you are a newbie like myself. The best part about this book is that it's really not just for ideas on writing truth be told you can use it fore anything that you want to do. The information given is very informative for start up a business in general. If that makes any sense. Just buy it and read it you'll see what I'm talking about. Loving this book awesome sauce.😊

The title made me shudder a little because I am a true believer of 'write what you're  passionate about'. Writing to sell books to me is a big no no, and your book will reflect that.
Upon reading, I discovered this book mostly targets non-fiction writers who want to make money selling content based books, mostly of the informative, instructive kind.
If you are one such writer, there are tips and advice for you about categories, niches, and marketing. And... its free.
This is an informative book, just not what I can benefit from.

This is all about writing-to-market, which is not a bad thing, but at the same time, this gives the same basic information that several other books I've read in the past have without adding much depth or detail and certainly very little in the way of examples.

This booklet provides some interesting tidbits, along with basic instructions, about successfully selling titles. It seems a potentially useful reference when time is available to research the materials it presents.

Writing Enthusiasm Continues

He offers solid advice on researching a topic before writing it out. Recommends several websites and methods for doing this. One of his top websites that I want to see from his reference: HugeOrange.com. I gotta check it out!

Short and to the Point

This book was a breeze to read and was loaded with honesty and good advice, stuff you can go out and try today. Also great links to a few resources that I have either forgotten or never heard of. So thank you. This information is really helpful.

The books in this series are quick reads but have viable information for independent authors. Write What Sells offers a five-step process for writing a book. It can be used for both fiction and nonfiction.

Non-Fiction Only

Good to find a non-fiction niche to write in. Although the book mentions some fiction categories in passing (spoiler: romances), the book is not written for that market.

This is the second I've read in Foster's free series. Consistent voice, easy to understand steps to accomplish the title's stated objective to write a book that will sell. Quick read (which I like). I would have given it 5 stars if it'd had a few more examples. Otherwise, perfect.

Mostly for nonfiction

I read this looking for ideas for fiction, but this incredibly short book is mostly about targeting nonfiction readers. If your are a nonfiction writer, this is more for you.

Good info, easy to read

Not much else to say. Good info that is easy to read. No long winding tales, personal anecdotes or tangents

Some good stuff, though the way it is explained is not for me. Too reckless and heartless.

This book makes for a good companion to his other one, Writing a Kindle Book a Week, but is quite short either way. It has a decent amount of information in it, though too geared toward nonfiction and not enough toward fiction. A lot of us write fiction books and it would be nice if these how-to books would accept this fact. Yes, some of what is done for nonfiction will work for fiction. Not always though and you'll give yourself a headache trying to stand on your head to figure it out at times. Good book, just extremely limited.

This book is full of simple steps toward writing my niche book and building a whole new writing line. I've read a lot of books on writing, but this book, and one other, gives me the tools to change my life. I look forward to other works written by this author!
