Darren Shaw has no idea why he asked to be introduced to a woman whom he'd only seen through a crowd. Something about her called to him and to the primal instincts of his inner animal. Trying to convince his beast to obey the human rules of society, he went to meet her. Darren could walk into the fiercest conflict the Valley has ever seen without blinking, but when it comes to meeting the tall and curvaceous woman in front of him, all of his strength may be for naught.
Focus. It's what Kierra Valcke, mayoral candidate for Genesis Valley, needs to maintain. She cannot afford any ill press. Most of all, she absolutely must not allow herself to be seen fraternizing with any of the notorious miner bears. That certainly includes not being talked into a dinner date at the single upscale establishment in the entire town. That would destroy the campaign she's built upon the premise of removing the veil of secrecy from the mining consortium that all but owns the entire valley. So why did she just say yes to the gorgeous giant of a bear shifter who she's never met before?
Neither of them can seem to abide by their own rules, and when the public discovers what Kierra's been up to, they may not be willing to forgive her choice. As she gets swept up in the mystery that surrounds Darren, his crew and the Valley as a whole, the pair are forced to test the limits to which they will go for each other, and for what they believe in.
Can they withstand the growing darkness as one, or will the emergence of a new player in the game thwart their desire for love?
Amelia Jade loves to write the stories of tall, growly shifter men and the women who come to love them. Living out in the back-country near the mountains, she keeps her own alpha male close by, to keep the bears away and keep her warm. In her down time (which is rare), she loves to read science-fiction with a dash of fantasy. You can often find her curled up in front of the real wood-burning fireplace, her nose firmly buried in a book or her favorite ereader. The cold can't bother her there!

I really like Darren. Darren is playful, fun, and has the characteristics of a strong alpha bear. The jade crew always seems to have their huge ups and downs but I enjoy reading them. The plots are always good and executed very well.
Very enjoyable though it does go off in a dark and dangerous direction with lots of hints and twists. But this story does end abruptly with some major questions to be answered. I loved Darren, can see a new path opening up for him, so sad he spent 3 years being detained due to thet horrible Nash. Hope they get rid of Nash permanantly. I didn't like Kierra much in the beginning but she sort of grew on me. These are just a bit short at times to do the story justice and I would love more social interaction times with the crews. Read in the box set.
This is the fourth story of this series, Jade Crew! Now the author says to get the most out of the story you should read, the second story in the "Stone Bear" series. 📕 I did that once before so I guess I'll do it again! 📕👍
Jade Crew: Captive Bear by Amelia Jade is so perfectly amazing. Her story-line is well developed and her plot is terrific. Amelia has continued to carry over her creative and unique characters. I absolutely loved this book. Amelia has such a way with her descriptions and the dialog among her characters. I was caught right from the beginning. Amelia is quite a brilliant Author. While there are several expected turmoil's among the shifters, Amelia has treaded so much humor into the story. It seems Darren and his friends have had a pretty good go of things for the last few weeks. Darren managed to escape a back hand thrown by Russell while playing around. Then suddenly a snowball was slammed into the back of Darren. Ack it went down his back. Not to be undone Darren made a pile of snowballs. He looked up to see several of his buddies compiling a huge stack of the white stuff. Darren took off running for the door yelling, "Oh no, you don't" when multiple snow balls hit his back and slammed him into the closed door. Darren yelled his surrender with his hands waving in the air. Then a dainty hand dumped a load of loose snow down his shirt. Darren yelled out parley, parley while shaking out his shirt tail and everyone busted up laughing. Now that's a skimmed down version of a very visual scene, one that I could visualize and smile at while reading it. It was part of my childhood and brought back those very fond memories. I felt present, right there with Darren shaking out his shirt tail. The Jade Crew and their mates were headed for a re-opening party. The Tongue and Flame Bar had been pretty demolished over a month ago in a massive shifter fight. Gwen, Russell's mate talked Ferro, the owner of the Bar, into letting her help re-decorate the place. The descriptions for how the bar turned out are in such lovely details and everyone was amazed. Anna finally had her cub, the first for the Jade Crew, with two other mates pregnant and when the ladies began talking baby talk the guys smiled politely and ran. During this private party Darren met a lady he'd never seen before. Her name was Kierra Valcke. They were immediately drawn to each other. They stayed and talked until the bar closed down. Then hugging and kissing took up the time they spent outside by her car. Of Course with Kierra as candidate for the Mayoral position, pictures of her evening outside the bar showed up on the front page of the local paper and the pair on the smear campaign continued with much more. These visuals that Amelia writes for us are so real. I can put aside the shifter aspect and see small town politics going down. Kierra was being followed, she had been caught with a shifter. Someone wanted to take her down and had set up the avenue to accomplish it. The next day someone threw a rock through her plate glass window and four major sized men were coming over her back fence to get her. Luckily she escaped that time and unfortunately not the next attempt. Kierra was kidnapped. It's just an amazing book. I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through. I was given a copy for an honest review.
Jade Crew: Captive Bear (Ridgeback Bears, #4) by Amelia Jade
Darren has the ability to be an alpha, but he is still unsure of himself and there isn't a crew for him to lead anyway. Then his alpha, Garrett, asks him to temporarily lead the Jade Crew while he is gone. Darren knows he can do this and things are calm right now, if not over. Darren hasn't been looking for his mate, but here lately with everyone else pairing up he is feeling the urge. At the re-opening of The Tongue & Flame he meets a woman who makes him feel things he has never felt before. He is pretty sure she is his mate, but it seems that fate just has to throw a kink into things. Add in the unknowns who just have to go after the crews new mates and things fire up quickly.
Kierra is running for mayor of Genesis Valley. Her campaign foundation is anti-shifter, anti-LMC and it has been going good. Then she meets Darren, a miner with the Jade Crew. She wants to get to know him better, as she feels a very strong connection to him, but her assistant thinks it would be a big mistake for her campaign. Kierra listens, at first, then decides that it doesn't matter to her, so she apologizes to Darren for her behavior. While, she is feeling good about seeing Darren, there are others that take advantage of that and use her to their benefit. Now she is stuck in the middle of a war between the miners and someone that wants to take control over the LMC and take out the miners.
Darren who was a bear shifter for the Jade crew had so much that happen to him. When he first moved there he had tried out for the Stone bears. He had been setup and had severed 3 years in jail. He never knew who set him up.
Kierra Valcke who was running for Mayor found herself in the Tongue and Flame getting out to meet the people. She had run her campaign on an anti-shifter campaign. So I guess it is kind of funny when she finds Darren attractive. There is definitely some serious chemistry going on between these two.
Someone seems out to get Kierra. Someone had been following and leaking photos of Kierra and Darren together. It looks like someone is out to jeopardize her campaign. Can Darren and Kierra figure who is behind all the this?
Things become dangerous. Darren will find out how much the bear clans will stand behind each other. He will defiantly have to rely on the other to help him save his mate. There are a few surprises in this book. Things are getting interesting especially concerning Valen Kedyn. Oh, sorry you will have to read the book to find out about that.
I really love those Jade Crew bear shifters and the Stone Bears. This is the fifth book about the Genesis Valley Shifters, and I have loved every one of them. Amelia Jade does a great job telling a story. Even though each book ends with a HEA, it still has some unanswered questions that you can't wait to get the next book to find out what happens next. In each book, she introduces new characters, as well as further developing the characters and storyline from the previous books. I love how each book flows from one to the other, with each one furthering the storyline. All of her main characters are such strong characters, even the female human mates, that you just either love or lust after. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review. I am so looking forward to the next one.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fast paced read that I enjoyed quite a bit. I loved seeing the characters from previous books included, so that we could see what they were up to. Darren and Kierra were great characters, and were perfect mates for each other. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop, and I was very happy with where their story left off. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series, and I hope that we eventually get to see Uriel and Valen get their own stories and HEAs.
Wow, another great story with the characters I love! I love how Darrens character developed! I cannot help but fall in love with him, Kierra, I will admit to having trouble with, a politician, but yay Amelia Jade even has me rooting for a politician! This story is so full of characters interacting, things happening, loved the look see of how Ferros bar turned out and Emma and Garrett's big reveal! So much story, finally you learn and get rid of Nash! Iloved the book I received it in exchange for an honest opinion.
Jade Crew: Captive Bear deserves 5 stars and a WOW!
I finished reading Jade Crew: Captive Bear with amazement. Darren's story needed to be told. He paid dues for a crime that he didn't commit. Readers get to read how jealousy and enemies ruin lives?
I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review,
I loved Darren I was so surprised to read that he was in the stone bear program I do hope that maybe he will get a second chance a become a sentinel bear, this book was so full of intrigue and suspense it can be read as a standalone book but with the background story you should read the other books as well, I hope Ajax book is coming soon.
I really liked this book. The characters were well developed and complex. The storyline flowed easily with enough suspense to keep it interesting. It's interesting that 'shifter' stories don't dwell on sex; they give complete stories. I'm no prude and sex is great--just not every other page. Ok, I'm off my soapbox. Enjoy!
These books are getting so detailed and I love reading about the world in Orgin. Keep up the good work as I still have to read all your other series too. This one book is about Darren and Kierra. It also starts really involving a lot more of the different bear mining crews. Which is really nice to see.
I love the jade crew and I'm glad that everyone is meeting their mates. I was sick of Nash and I'm glad he is being dealt with I'm just so impatient to find out who these powers that are controlling them are.
The fact that the author repeatedly said that Ajax belonged to the Sapphires was getting on my last nerve. They are the bad guys. This needs to be fixed.
Kierra Valcke has always thought that shifters were ruthless and immoral. Darren Shaw has a past that would make most run. Upon meeting, instant attraction blooms between the two. Will Kierra be able to overcome her prejudice again shifters? Will Darren be able to prove their is more to him than just his bear?
Loved Daren and Kierra. I understood her reasoning for not liking shifters, BUT was soooo excited when she admitted that not all are the same and that she was willing to take the chance. Daren proved himself time and again when it came to her and stepped up to the plate with protection. Great book and cannot wait to read the next!
