Susanna Haymond is a small town girl who enjoys creating worlds with a pen and weaves suspenseful stories with a bit of faith and a dash of romance. Though her writing style has morphed over the years, she has always loved the challenge of writing suspenseful hair-raising stories.
As a child, Susanna’s imagination was never dormant, and she wrote many short stories and poems including short crime stories for her younger sister to enjoy. A story or poem has always been in the works. It wasn't until she was sixteen that she began writing a book by the suggestion of her sister-in-law. At the time it seemed like an impossibility, but months later she was inspired with a storyline that materialized as a children’s book.
She finished Heritage Quest, a children's adventure book, three months later. Since then she has authored several books including the thrilling page-turning Agents of Justice book series.
When she’s in her writing zone, you will often find a cup of steaming coffee and possibly a little something chocolate not too far away. A few things she enjoys are baking, the beach, and music.
Susanna resides in a small city in western Washington with her husband, Jason, and their Bichon Frise fur baby, Koda.
I remember really liking this book. I thought the romance was clean and back-burner enough for me and the violence was also tactful. Interesting because the story is written from the POV of several different characters.
As a mystery, per usual this review will be a little more vague. I always try to avoid spoilers, but in mystery books since so much of the plot and story are spoilers, it's a little tricky to review them the same way I would other genre.
Intercepted by Susanna Haymond offers a nice twist on the standard Inspirational Romantic Suspense story, and let's romance take a back seat to the story. I really enjoyed how the romance was in this one, letting it build slowly and with compassion for the other person, and awareness of their needs as well. It was a beautiful example of love that we don't see as often as I'd like, it's definitely out there, but with the fast-paced action, the romance in similar books also tends to get sped up, at least in some ways. Going from strangers to an established couple in a week is normal for Romantic Suspense books, even in the Christian genres. So this was is refreshing in this way.
It's also not afraid to address difficult topics, and tough faith questions either. I loved the inspirational lines in Intercepted, and found some new favorite quote as well!
I did find the ending and resolution was a bit underwhelming for my taste, it just felt too convenient, and some places were definitely cop-outs to move the story along, but that was a small part of the story, and I did enjoy the overall story!
There are so many characters and situations that at first seem totally unrelated that it was confusing at first. Finally everything started coming together, and I enjoyed the story. However, the writing was somewhat stilted and the book needed more extensive editing.
It seemed to me that there were two distinct storyline’s in this book. Although the two storyline’s did intersect, I felt like I was reading two books at the same time that had different aims.
It's good to find a good book that I can read with the knowledge that I won't be exposed to something that is not up to my standards. I love a book that spins a good yarn and keeps me interested to the end. Not top notch writing but good enough.
Intercepted is a fast moving story of pain, love, hope and faith. I would have liked to get to know the characters a bit more, but what the author gives of them is raw and very relatable. The sacrificial love of Jesus is shown in an unexpected way, as is the struggle with trusting that God is all loving in the face of tragedy. Great for anyone who likes a suspenseful mystery.
It took me s while to get the hang of this story because it seemed so disjointed. But I finally got the connection. I wasn't sure I liked it to start with, but it turned out to be a very good story. I'm not sure I enjoy working so hard at understanding where a story is going, but it turned out with sticking with it.
A mission trip turns into much more for the main character, Nora. Find out what's in store for her and what tests her faith. Could there be more in store for Nora's future? Looks like a second book to me.
I gave this four stars cause the authors writing style was different than most books I read. The author pulled it off and create d a believable crime, romance story.
I truly wish I could give this book a higher rating. However, the writing is so elementary and stiff that even if the storyline were stellar, it would be tough to get through. There are some good scenes but I found this book a struggle to get through.
I liked the story, but thought that the author gave us too many details of each event, that didn't add to the story. At times I felt there were too many moving parts that didn't gel well. Good start but needs some more work.. Will read more books by the author
It was a slow read at first but when I got into it, the suspense was worth it. I commend the author on her ability to maintain the tone of each character throughout the book.
