What happens to a dragon lord when his greatest treasure steals his heart?

Arrogant alpha male Hugo Sarkany is hot, handsome and a heartbreaker. Women throw themselves at him hoping for one night in his bed, or at least a nice piece of jewelry.

Curvy, independent Leah never set out to net a billionaire dragon shifter. All this BBW wants is a decent job and a decent man. That lets out indecently wealthy playboy Hugo. He might make her drool but she doesn’t want to be a notch on anyone’s bedpost.

But so long as he confines himself to looking, she’ll put up with her bad boy boss. Trip to Caribbean island? Check. Big bonus? Check. Turning into a dragon? Not so much.

Hugo thinks just one taste of curvy, Georgia Peach Leah will satisfy his raging desires. He isn’t expecting to wake up to an infuriated dragoness. But one night of passion is enough to turn his obsession with juicy Leah into an obsession with his one and only mate.

Nobody told Hugo that turning his mate into a shifter was the easy part. How can he persuade his delectable treasure that loving her has transformed his wayward ways?

A word to the wise: Smoking hot dragon lord seduces nubile virgin. The fiery passion ignited in this innocent BBW may shock and titillate. A hard-living, hard-bodied shifter will go to great lengths to pleasure his luscious mate.

Dragon’s Treasure is Book 1 in the Lords of the Dragon Islands Series. It is a standalone novel with no cliffhangers and an HEA.

The Good...well, kinda (not really)
-Freebie
-Dragon shifter ‘verse that had potential. Even if a bit convoluted and stuffy, I thought there was enough promise with this worldbuilding that I pushed through some stilted dialogue, lackluster chemistry between the leads and a stanky whiff of OW in the mix (although not together, so technically didn’t count). It didn’t pay off.

The Dear Lord Jeezus That Was Bad

-The prose is ….not good. I appreciate that writing is not easy and this clearly worked for some other people, but since this is my review I gotta admit it - this is the worst book I’ve read this year.

-The love scenes are so purple I’m in a haze like a bad acid trip. I’ll let it speak for itself:

“He sat up so they could kiss, his red mouth taking hers and stealing her breath, while she slid down onto his thicket.”

description

“She could feel herself oozing her juices onto his pubes. His cock was a broad long pole pressing hard between her buttocks.”

description

This was the line that made me cry uncle and just let go of any hope for a good ending:

“She came, falling forward into his waiting arms while his purple headed spear flooded her with his potent shifter seed.”

description

That...is not romantic or sexy, or even crude. It’s just kind of cringe-inducing, awkward and painful. I managed to finish because I was curious, but it was a struggle.

-Uninteresting, unconnected characters: Hugo’s mostly a jackass until he suddenly is completely into Leah, but Leah never really seems to embrace anything other than his ...purple headed spear. The dragon shifting part had brief moments where I was curious about Hugo shifting but otherwise, nothing worked.

description
The Bottom Line
No es bueno. A shifter romance lacking in romance or interesting shifters, I just can’t recommend it.

This book took an interesting, unexpected turn midway through. I loved the first part. Heroine Leah, a temp worker, goes to work for super sexy playboy Hugo. He's determined to seduce her; she's determined to resist. Fighting her own attraction to the jerk, she does a great job of keeping him at bay. Eventually, she does succumb, and gets turned into a dragon, who happens to be his mate. The beginning was very enjoyable to watch the tango, the cat-and-mouse game between Hugo and Leah. It had the feel of an older Harlequin romance when the secretary would fall for her rich Playboy boss who was out of her league. Once Leah got turned, the story spun off in a different direction about Hugo having to fight to keep the family jewels (Lol, his hoard, not the OTHER kind of family jewels) and his position in dragon society. The first half was very enjoyable, the second half was ok.

Dragon's Treasure BBW / Dragon Shifter Romance
Lords of the Dragon Islands Book 1

Well, just let me say how delighted I am! I have been reading them, without stop because I can't put them down! Each story is very different in local and characters and the tales are told with great artistry. I'm a new fan of Isadora Montrose, I think she is brilliant, she is a master of her talent, her characters are so believable and unique, her writing is quite creative and her stories are exciting and thrilling. I enjoyed reading Isadora Montrose's books and regardless of what the series it is. This series is just as fantastic as all the others. Dragon's Treasure BBW / Dragon Shifter Romance Lords of the Dragon Islands Book 1 is a absolutely awesome paranormal romance series. It grabbed my attention from the first page until the last page. I didn't put it down until I finish it. I absolutely loved it and I really can't wait to read the next one. Hugo Sarkany is a Arrogant alpha male billionaire dragon shifter. Can you imagine a hot, handsome and a heartbreaker dragon lord who wants a nubile virgin to seduce. I mean not many women would past up a chance to spend one night in his bed and to be given at least one nice piece of jewelry as a thank you 😊LOL. But of course there's one and that's curvy, independent Leah. Hugo is her boss and he's offering her a dream job, can she resist of course not, but as long as he confines himself to looking and nothing else she needs this job. What a great story to start! This is so enjoyable, it's well written and the scenes are fabulous. I couldn't stop reading and this why I love reading Isadora Montrose's books! I will certainly like to read more from them.

Beautiful written story of a dragons greatest treasure.
Leah is a temp worker filling in at Sarkan Industries, she believes in hard work, money is not everything, and love is faithful.
Hugo is a player, but what Hugo wants Hugo gets, is it dragon magic or just sex appeal, who knows. Hugo cannot figure out what it is about Leah, but he can't get her off his mind, so he must use suduction, so he buys out her contract and hires her to be his PA on his private island. However there is a lot Hugo needs to learn about Leah, she is not interested in being one of his women! She is still a virgin which makes suduction dangerous, but he needs to know she will never bow down to anyone she is a true spitfire! Hugos plans make Leah a one night stand and get her out of his system, but Leah fights there attraction. Just how much magic sex appeal can a girl take before she caves in and wakes up breathing fire! Hugo dodges flames, tail, and a very upset Leah in waking up after a night of out of control passion.Leah can take alot but waking up a lizard is not one of them and the courtship begins. in the end fate interferes in a way that lets both Hugo and Leah know the greatest treasure is love! I received this in exchange for an honest review.

Damn. I really liked this Authors works but .... I can’t stand it when sex is an excuse to get over problems and honest emotions. Hugo is a pig, I couldn’t stand him, his sexual harassment in the work place was atrocious and that’s just the start. I just really really hope this an anomaly and I can go back to loving IM‘s books.

I was looking for a paranormal, secret-baby, second-chance romance book to read, and came across Dragon’s Successor (Lords of the Dragon Islands, #2)…only I mistakenly downloaded Dragon’s Treasure (Lords of the Dragon Islands, #1) instead. I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that it wasn’t until I finished the book that I realized my mistake.

The further into the book I got, the more frustrated I became, because the storyline I was anticipating just wasn’t happening (i.e. secret baby). I thought that I had been misled by the synopsis, and this false assumption unfortunately tainted my reading experience. So take everything I say with a grain of salt, as it’s possible that the issues I had with the story were exacerbated by my (wrongly placed) frustration.

The Heroine was likeable for the most part in the beginning. I respected her professionalism in the face of the hostility and objectification that she endured whilst working for the hero’s company; she didn’t let her lust for the hero blind her to his playboy behavior. Sadly, once she’s stuck on the island with the hero, her sensibilities are overpowered by the supernatural attraction that is a result of their close proximity. *Eye roll*

Resist

The Hero was a self-important asshole. His behavior was disgusting when it came to women. He strong-arms the heroine to his private island for six weeks, under the guise of her working as his PA (if she refused she’d be out of a job, if she accepted she’d have enough money to be financially independent by the end of the job). In reality he expects her to have sex with him. Afterwards he’ll send her away with her payment, and he'll finally be able to stop obsessing over her.

“Despite her attempt at businesslike conduct, it was difficult to imagine that she didn't know what he had brought her here for. Surely, she didn't think he needed to pay a secretary a massive bonus to work for him? … He had no intention of waiting any longer. It had been more than a week since he had had a woman and he had needs … He wasn't going to be put on a leash by any piece of tail, no matter how delectable he found her. It was time Leah earned her pay. Once he had had his voluptuous PA, his obsession with her would die a natural death. He would spend his days attending to his business interests, and his afternoons playing with Leah. And keep his nights for flying. When he tired of her he would send her home. If she had given satisfaction, he would bestow her bonus on her.“

“Once he had sampled the lovely Leah's ample charms, he would get bored. He always did. He would want her gone. That was why he had already bought her farewell gift. Tonight he would have her, and tomorrow he would send her away, swathed in pearls with her bonus deposited in her bank account.”

“Soon Leah would be just another such dim memory. His obsession was merely the result of being denied.

Then he takes his a**hole ways to the next level. Not only does he expect sex, but he thinks that the heroine should feel grateful that he’s even giving her his attention.

“‘I'm your employee. That ought to mean no touching, no remarks, and nothing like what happened out there.’

Who was this penniless nonentity to rebuke him? She should be on her knees thanking him for noticing her and giving her a taste of a far finer life than anything she was likely ever to encounter in her circle. He liked the thought of her on her knees before him.”

Thanking

The Romance is non-existent. The hero only wants the heroine for sex. He’ll only pay her if they have sex. He plans to send her away after they have sex. He even bought her jewelry to give her (which is his M.O. when dumping one of his playthings) after they have sex. They have sex. Heroine wakes up the next morning as a dragoness. The hero is now calling her his “beloved” and planning their wedding. Did I mention that the heroine broke the pearl necklace (which was the thanks for the lay, bye-bye-now, present that the hero put on her the night before) during her transformation, and he has them restrung for her to wear. Like, no. That’s insulting to pretend that the necklace wasn’t initially intended as a don’t let the door hit you on the way out present. So now, he’s completely devoted to her in the “Your place is at my side,” “She would have to be taught to obey his lightest command,” “She would soon learn not to challenge her lord,” superficial way.

The Dialogue was ridiculous. The way the hero talked was reminiscent of a time period long past. Which would make sense if he was old enough to have lived during that time, but I’m pretty sure he isn’t.

I’m not sure if I even want to give the book I meant to read a shot anymore based on my experience with this one.

It seemed like it could be a good read at the beginning... but then it started to get boring... I finished it but I didn't like it very much...
What I liked the least was the fact that the female protagonist tried to convince the reader that she didn't want to be with the male protagonist... except she did the shittiest job possible... She was pushed around and she did nothing... One minute she was saying that she wanted to go home and the next, she had forgotten... one minute she didn't want to get married to the male protagonist and the next she was asking if the wedding could be smaller... One minute she hated the male protagonist for being an asshole and turning her against her will because she didn't want to be with him and the next she was complaining that the problem was that he didn't love her...

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review. This was my first time reading Ms.Montrose and I'm hooked. This book is beautifully written and filled with passion and humor. You can't help but fall in love with the arrogant dragon Hugo and his sassy southern mate Leah. I scared the heck out of my dog by laughing so hard when Leah first turns into a dragon. I highly recommend this book.

Dragons treasure

I enjoyed reading this book. It is part of a series about dragons finding their mates and having no clue about the mates they find nor how strong their mates can be. New favorite author.

I didn't realize that there were two stories here. The dragon's treasure was wonderful. Slow start but I never put it down. So much that I got caught in the second story as well. Good 👍 day off read.

Dragon's Treasure

I really liked the overall storyline. Leah I liked from the beginning. Hugo, on the other hand, was almost too self centered at the beginning to let me like him. He did mellow out somewhat. It will be interesting to see if he changes more if he comes around in future books. There some fun secondary characters that I'm hoping get their own stories down the series.

Will an arrogant playboy dragon reform...

I like Leah and Hugo’s instant attraction, it’s subtle yet serious. But he continues with his self important attitude making it hard for Leah to succumb to his charms. I love the imagery of he island paradise. Their romance is light and witty and I giggled at the many names for his prick. A fun paranormal read.

This book was interesting, but not as good as I've read before. The love story wasn't too bad. But I believe could have been better. Would like to read some more of her books. I do like shifter books.

This is the story of Hugo Sarkany, a dragon who needs his mate, and Leah St. George, a human who never plans to mate with a dragon. Hugo and his brother are the last of their family line and Hugo promises his great-grandfather that he will find his mate and make little dragon babies. Since there are very few dragonesses born, he must find a virgin to turn in order to have children. Hugo knows there are very few virgins that are old enough for him to consider them mate material.

Leah is assigned a temp job at Hugo's company and her first day starts off with a nasty woman talking down to her and a executive meeting with no coffee or pastries ready. She manages to make the meeting run smoothly and Hugo requests her for his P.A. while he is in town. Determined to get her into his bed he arranges an out-of-town trip to his private island. She knows he is a womanizer and refuses to join his other discarded women. When she breaks down and sleeps with him she is unaware of his dragon, or that her virginity would turn her into a dragoness. Uh oh. Hugo didn't mean for all this to happen, but he is not going to look a gift dragon in the mouth. Now he has to keep his mate safe from his enemies, and convince her to stay with him and make little dragons. Easy peezy. Not.

Hugo is a rich dragon shifter and businessman. He enjoys playing with women but the pressure is on for him to find a mate and continue the family line. The problem is that only dragoness mate's can bear babies and there are no more natural born female dragon's left. The only way to get a female dragon is for him to sleep with a virgin and virgins are not easy to find. Now while waiting to find his mate, he has decided to have some fun with his temp employee Leah.
Leah isn't interested in an affair with her playboy boss. She just wants a good job to help her pay off her debts. When Hugo hires her to accompany him to his Caribbean island, she is nervous but agrees because the money is too good. Once they arrive Hugo keeps putting the moves on Leah until she finally gives in and sleeps with him. Imagine both their surprises when he wakes up as female dragon. Now hugo has the tough job of trying to calm Leah done and convince her to stay and be his mate.
This is a great story and funny too. I enjoyed how strong and independent Leah is. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Yeah, this was amazing

This is the first book by this author I've read and I am seriously impressed. First, this author is descriptive without being opulent. Her characters stay true to their personalities and you feel like you are right here with them the whole way. Hugo was an arrogant bastard and I loved him from the start. As for editing, fantastic!!!! This book was just plain good from start to finish, though admittedly I always laugh at the descriptives that authors use for body parts and especially for the private ones. This author caught my attention with "fluff" for the nethers of a woman! Haha!

When rich, bad boy dragon shifter Hugo seduced innocent BBW Leah, he had no idea what hit him. He finds himself unable to stop thinking about Leah, and now he has an irresistible dragoness on his hands. Leah was a sweet young woman who always put her family before herself, and she had no plans to fall in love with Hugo. I enjoyed the romance, but I have to admit I'm not a bit fan of the sex euphemisms used. I prefer straight up, more explicit talk, even in a shifter world. I did like the storyline, although I prefer a more definitive HEA. This was a standalone, and I'm curious to see if the other books in the series are written any differently.

Hugo is a dragon who loves the power of his position. He has money and women and does whatever he wants. He knows he should marry to continue the family line but is not eager to tie himself down.

Leah is on her own since her grandmother's death. She needs money and job and her temp job puts her in direct contact with Hugo. She knows exactly what he is like and while she is attracted to him, she has no desire to be used and have her heart broken.

Leah may not be his usual type but Hugo wants her and decides to make it happen. He has no idea that it will lead to her being his mate until it is too late. He may be ready at that point but Leah not so sure she wants to be a dragon and his mate.

Many of the dragon shifter stories feature a very arrogant, alpha male. Hugo is not one for developing feelings for women and is very casual with his relationships. They all get jewelry as their going away present. He makes Leah very uncomfortable with his examination of her body. Leah is not a thin little woman like his usual playmates and tries to minimize her asset but it doesn't stop him from his pursuit. She is very smart and does coding at night to make extra money. Leah put family first and left her old job to care for her grandmother who had Alzheimer's. She didn't have time for dating and doesn't want to start with a player like Hugo. Her head and heart may have one idea but her body has very different ideas and she finds it hard to resist.

I liked the chemistry between them and that Leah called Hugo out when he goes too far. She has her own mind and won't be manipulated. Hugo definitely changes for the better as he learns to love his mate.

There is a storyline about the Dragon Council and some political games members are playing. It would be interesting to see more stories featuring his left and right hand (his brother and friend) as they too search for their mates and fight those that misuse their power.

I received a copy in return for a honest review.
