Dylan Dog jest nazywany "detektywem mroku", gdyż zajmuje się sprawami, które zwykło się nazywać paranormalnymi - często walczy z potworami, duchami czy wilkołakami. Seria o jego przygodach sprzedaje się we Włoszech i USA w wielosettysięcznych nakładach, zaś sama postać Dylana jest uznawana za kultową wśród włoskich miłośników komiksu. Cykl ten został wymyślony w 1986 r. przez scenarzystę Tiziano Sclaviego, dziś natomiast tworzeniem scenariuszy i rysunków zajmuje się wielu pisarzy i grafików.

Dylan Dog wird nach der Übersee=Kolonie Englands gerufen und folgt dem Ruf per Schiff, da er Flugangst hat. Aber ob sechs Tage die Fische füttern wirklich schlauer war? Zudem weiß er nicht, was auch der Leser erst allmählich erfährt, dass nämlich gleich zwei Hexen DD nach Amerika gerufen haben: eine aus Liebe, die andere, um tödliche Rache zu nehmen. Und dann ist da auch noch der jahrhundertealte Kater Cagliostro, dessen Spiel nicht minder undurchschaubar ist.
Und während Dylan Dog und sein treuer Diener Groucho von einer Merkwürdigkeit in die nächste Stolpern (dass hier rechts gefahren wird, gehört noch zu den milderen Überraschungen), entdeckt der Leser ein Filmzitat nach dem anderen.
Prima Unterhaltung mit reichlich Lachern (vor allem für Filmfreunde):
Und während Dylan Dog und sein treuer Diener Groucho von einer Merkwürdigkeit in die nächste Stolpern (dass hier rechts gefahren wird, gehört noch zu den milderen Überraschungen), entdeckt der Leser ein Filmzitat nach dem anderen.

Le avventure di Dylan Dog col suo amico Groucho, qui si svolgono in USA. Tra citazioni letterarie, grasse risate e tanto splatter, veniamo catapultati in una storia di streghe, Salem e poi c'è un gattone nero di nome Cagliostro, il vero protagonista di questo fumetto e...
La storia è abbastanza semplice, scorrevole, un po' troppo povera di caratterizzazione dei personaggi e lo svolgimento è risicato, i disegni son poco particolareggiati e carenti per quanto riguarda le atmosfere cupe che dovrebbe ispirare nel lettore. Però nel complesso si fa leggere ed intrattiene il giusto, per passare un'oretta di svago!
La storia è abbastanza semplice, scorrevole, un po' troppo povera di caratterizzazione dei personaggi e lo svolgimento è risicato, i disegni son poco particolareggiati e carenti per quanto riguarda le atmosfere cupe che dovrebbe ispirare nel lettore. Però nel complesso si fa leggere ed intrattiene il giusto, per passare un'oretta di svago!

Questo è un piccolo gioiellino. Quando si parla di Dylan Dog, si parla di produzione seriale quindi non è scontato trovare volumi così interessanti. Eppure, credo, che in Italia sia una delle realtà editoriali più gustose, anche solo per il fatto che sia diventato un fenomeno di costume che ha influenzato la cultura pop italiana.
La collocazione spaziale diversa nasconde un elogio a una terra che ha fatto del cinema una delle sue industrie più floride: gli Stati Uniti. La storia è costruita in maniera magistrale, Sclavi ci mostra come sia possibile narrare senza dover dare necessariamente un senso alla storia raccontata. Questo è il puro intrattenimento, senza, però, essere privo di attività intellettuale: la sfida è ricercare le numerose citazioni presenti all'interno delle vignette.
Si può accusare tale volume di essere rappresentante di un'epoca e di un modo di fare che ha fatto il suo tempo, ma non si deve mai dimenticare l'anno di pubblicazione di un testo per poterne valutare le potenzialità. E di fatto, ribadisco, questo volume, forse, può essere da solo molto più chiaro per poter dire cosa è postmoderno rispetto a tante dissertazioni colte.

I find that Tiziano Sclavi is at his best in two types of stories: macabre and melancholic poetry, or meta-stories mixing fiction and reality, including numerous references to pop culture.
Cagliostro is of the latter type, a semi-dreamlike journey where Cary Grant and H. P. Lovecraft meet Leatherface and Marion Crane. Here, Sclavi displays his sense of humour – black humour, of course – and his storytelling skills as he navigates between the parallel stories of Dylan and Groucho.
The whole thing is well served by Luigi Piccatto, who treats us to a few gory scenes and scary monsters.

Un albo storico pieno di citazioni cinematografiche e letterarie.
La strega Kim e il suo potentissimo gatto Cagliostro si annoiano e decidono di chiamare Dylan Dog a New York..
una galleria degli orrori attende Dyd e Groucho per le strade della grande mela..
ma Kim e Dylan non sono destinati a incontrarsi proprio perchè il gatto.. ci mette lo zampino!

Möglich, dass ich "Cagliostro!" vor vielen Jahren schon einmal gelesen habe. Aber heute hatte ich soviel Spaß bei der (leider viel zu kurzen) Leküre, dass ich mich eigentlich daran hätte erinnern müssen. Tiziano Sclavi at his best! Die Anspielungsdichte könnte größer nicht sein. Denn Dylan Dog wird nach New York eingeladen, von einer älteren Hexe, zugleich auch von einer jungen attraktiven mit Namen Kim herbeigewünscht. Deren ebenfalls zaubermächtiger schwarzer Kater Cagliostro scheint etwas dagegen zu haben, dass sich Dylan Dog mit trifft. Graucho, Dylans Imitator-Assistent reist ihm voran, denn Dylan hat Flugangst und muss mit dem Schiff reisen. Auf der Reise passiert allerlei Schauerliches und erst recht in den USA. Doch das Ende ist überraschend.
Bei all dem Grauen in der Grauzone zwischen Imagination (der Katze) und tatsächlichem Geschehen gibt es immer wieder Verblüffendes und Humor, so dass ich immer wieder gelacht habe. In den Vorbemerkungen wird eine Inspirationsquelle des DD-Abenteuers erläutert. Es ist der Film "Meine Braut ist übersinnlich" im Kim Novak. Doch Sclavi hat hier nur die Ausgangssituation in seine Geschichte übernommen und hat dann etwas ganz eigenes hervorgebracht. Der ganze Comic ist eigentlich eine Hommage an den amerikanischen populären Film. Und je mehr man selbst gesehen hat, desto mehr Spaß macht es, die Bild-Zitate und Szenen wieder zu erkennen, die Sclavi und Luigi Piccato eingebaut haben. Der Comic ist auch sehr schön gezeichnet.

An incredibly weird story: Dylan Dog travels to America for a client, even though he hates both flying and suffers from sea-sickness. Once in the states he lives several little short adventures, all observed by a black cat. What both Dylan and the reader are lead to believe is that these happenings around Dylan are just dreams of Cagliostro, a cat of a witch in New York; later we find out that they were anything but. Also... an interesting connection to the second issue of Dylan Dog is the real reason behind all his adventures in this book...
But what a confusing book this is, which seems to be just an occasion to have cameos from famous American splatter movies. Honestly, I never liked this story, and although it has potential and will hopefully one day be picked up again, for now the plot just goes nowhere.. pity!

Dylan Dog cerca di raggiungere New York in uno stato di misteriosa trance.. opera di qualche incantesimo? Chi sta cercando di mettersi in contatto con lui? E che ruolo ha il misterioso gatto Cagliostro in questa surreale faccenda?
E surreale è proprio il termine perfetto per descrivere questa avventura dell’indagatore dell’incubo. Allucinazione e realtà si mescolano in un’avventura piena di citazioni horror, da Lovecraft alla saga cinematografica di “Non aprite quella porta”, passando attraverso un immaginario di streghe, zombie e creature paranormali.. un piccolo capolavoro da leggere obbligatoriamente per tutti gli appassionati del genere.
E surreale è proprio il termine perfetto per descrivere questa avventura dell’indagatore dell’incubo. Allucinazione e realtà si mescolano in un’avventura piena di citazioni horror, da Lovecraft alla saga cinematografica di “Non aprite quella porta”, passando attraverso un immaginario di streghe, zombie e creature paranormali.. un piccolo capolavoro da leggere obbligatoriamente per tutti gli appassionati del genere.

Een reis naar New York voor Dylan Dog, een tocht vol gruwelen en vage voortekens. Vijfduizend dollar en een anonieme uitdaging lokken hem over de Atlantische Oceaan, naar een onbekende bestemming, naar een dodelijke val. Wie is Kim, de mooie heks? Welke krachten bezit Cagliostro, haar verontrustende zwarte kat? Welke geheime wraak smeedt mevrouw Di Passio? Een wervelwind van personages, demonen en monsters... met een verrassend einde!
Verborgen in het verhaal zijn verschillende scènes uit bekende films opgenomen, zoals The Texas chainsaw massacre, Psycho, Ghostbusters.... en terwijl Dylan Dog zich normaal enkel begeeft in Londen of Engeland, is hij deze keer naar Amerika gelokt. Nietsvermoedend vertrekt hij met een schip, terwijl Groucho reeds aankomt met het vliegtuig in New York. Zonder Dylan Dog gaat hij onbevreesd op stap en ontmoet wat vreemde snuiters. Een zwarte kat doet ook zijn intrede, maar wordt verkeerd begrepen en uiteindelijk gaar niets zoals gepland werd door de onbekenden die hem uitgenodigd hadden. We komen wel te weten dat dit gedeeltelijk over wraak ging van een zus wiens heksen zusters in een vroeger nummer doek Dylan werden gedood. Een wat lichter nummer maar toch interessant om in een ander land onze helden te zien bewegen en de af en toe terugkerende situaties van vorige verhalen te hebben.

Gdy będziecie zaczynać przygodę z serią Dylan Dog, w co drugiej recenzji przeczytacie o Umberto Eco, dla którego to jedna z ulubionych rozrywek oraz o postmodernizmie, zabawie konwencjami itd. Otóż do tej pory tego do końca nie czułem. Odczytywałem większość nie jako zabawę z konwencjami, ale jako porządne realizacje tychże. Dopiero teraz to się zmienia. "Cagliostro" jest tym, czego po tej serii oczekiwałem od początku, zdrowo jebniętą fabułą na granicy jawy i koszmaru sennego z mnóstwem odniesień do popkulturowych dzieł, schematów i symboli. Póki co najlepszy Dylan.

Jedna od dražih epizoda istraživača noćnih mora, puna referenci na horor filmove, plus cameo MM (koji jedini put koji pamtim stvarno vara Dijanu) plus Gruchov dolazak u ameriku, sve u Piccattovu prekrasnom crtežu.

Una storia un pochino confusionaria e non troppo accattivante. Bella l'idea ed i personaggi ai quali ruota attorno ma nel complesso non ha saputo rapirmi come mi aspettavo, finendo anche in modo alquanto sbrigativo.

Bellissimi i disegni, la storia divertente ma a tratti un po' troppo surreale, ai limiti della commedia. Tutto sommato una lettura piacevole.

Prima apparizione di Cagliostro (uno dei pochi personaggi ricorrenti della serie) e rara trasferta oltre oceano per Dylan,in un tripudio di citazioni cinematografiche di ottimo livello.
