Without trust, their hearts-and their lives-don't stand a chance in hell.

Surrender, Book 1

Ten years ago, Angela Meyers told everyone she went to New York to find herself. It was a lie. She fled from the aftermath of one hot night with Clay Waters. A night filled with wet heat, all-consuming releases...then his regret.

Now, with a stalker threatening to destroy her career, there's only one man she trusts to protect her. The man she still loves, hates, needs with every breath she takes.

It's not that Clay never craved his best friend's younger sister. With a ticket to boot camp burning a hole in his pocket, he couldn't allow himself to love her. The moment he lays eyes on her again, the old need-to take down her tightly wound hair, press her long, lean body to his-surges inside him stronger than ever.

But this is no ordinary bodyguard assignment. The best way to identify the voice in Angela's shadow is to lure it into the light of day. Even if it means convincing her to trust him with her heart...and surrendering his own.

Warning: When an ex-Marine reunites with his best friend's younger sister, explosive sex is a given. So are explosive secrets. You may never look at a pair of Snoopy pajama pants the same way again.

I am a wife and a mother and a business owner alongside my husband of almost 11 years.

We live in east Texas along with our son and our dog and 2 cats!

We've got a 5 acre plot of land that we've lived in since 2000 and absolutely love it. OK the 800° summers can be a little harsh but the land is beautiful and you just can't beat Texans. We know our neighbors and like them...most of them...and where else can you see a hive of tractors parked on main street and it's actually considered normal.

I've been writing romance since 2008 when I wrote my first novel in 3 months. And it was a 100,000+ word count. Apparently I had a lot to say. I've written four novels to date, several short stories, magazine and newsletter articles and am working on a 7 book series right now. I write contemporary erotic romance. Mostly hetero, some same sex, menage "oh yeah" but all of it HOT!

What started it all was a dream. I think a lot of authors say that and I think if more people would write their dreams down and turn them into stories the world would be a much more interesting place. Two dreams compose two of the biggest scenes of Final Promise. One where Simon is chasing Karley through the park into the locker room, and the other when she has to confront him in the conference room. It's been almost 4 years since I had that dream and I SWEAR I can close my eyes and still see the tears streaking down her face looking out the window. My husband always tells me that I have sci fi dreams and on most nights that is so true. I could fill pages and pages of paranormal scenes with them but those dreams were HOT with a capital Damn!!

Whatever precipitated those dreams I am so thankful for. I LOVE Writing! It is something so incredibly fulfilling to put your thoughts and dreams down on paper and have someone else read it and say, "WOW!" But it's something else entirely to have a writer read your work and say, "Holy WOW!"

Now if I could just find where I misplaced my editor...

This book just seriously took hold of me, and did not let go! It is one of those where the life around you doesn’t exist, and you have to get to the end before you can put it down. I just couldn’t leave these two in limbo. Admitting love isn’t always easy for everyone. When we are young it is even harder to admit that you want this one person over every other person in the world, even if there is a part of you screaming to do just that. The other part with doubts and fears often wins, and for Clay that is just what happened. He allowed them one night of the passion, only to let all the fears of a being the product of a bad marriage and the possibility of loosing his best friend run off the one girl that love him for so long.

Angela has lived with the heartache that his regret brought on both of them for so long. She kept her traumas secret from everyone in her life, and when she moved away from home she never came back not even for a visit. It was easier on her heart and emotions to have her family and friends come to visit her in New York where she is now a powerhouse in the fashion industry. Clay isn’t the only dark cloud in Angela’s world though. She has had a stalker for quite some time. Although she would like nothing more than to ignore the threats this stalker sends her, but the trips to the hospital are starting to add up. Her brother is at the end of his rope with this situation, and gets the one person he would trust to guard her, his best friend Clay. The sudden appearance of Clay in her life again flips her world upside down. Can she let him in again without loosing the little bit of her she has left? And can she forgive him for her breaking her more than he even knows??

This book had me on pins and needles. These two characters are so real, and you just want to see them healed and get their HEA. They really put me through the emotional ringer. The chemistry between them is hard to deny, and it is smoking hot. I highly recommend reading this one with a box of Kleenex if you are a softy like I am. If I wasn’t already a huge fan of Jennifer Kasey, this book would have made me a life long fan!

This is not a bedtime story. It is a full length novel and I couldn’t put it down. It grabbed me and wouldn’t let me sleep. *sigh* Even if I could have put it down to sleep, stalkers do not make good dream material.

Angela Meyers is one strong, stubborn woman. This is her life. The one she has given of her whole self to build. No one is going to scare her away from it. She will not let some idiot stalker scare her into hiding away from the world. She will get around to getting a security company, eventually. But really, she doesn’t want anyone else following her around and trying to tell her what to do. She is that independent.

Big brother, Mark, has some different ideas. His best friend, Clay Waters, has his own security agency now. Who better to trust the life and safety of his little sister to, than his best friend? But Clay and Angela have secrets. Lots of secrets. Some from each other and some from everybody else.

Yep, you got it. A reunion story. Brother’s best friend trope. *eyeroll* All topped off with suspense, and done quite well I may add. It made for some interesting reading.

I wasn’t sure when the flashbacks started happening. I am not a fan. But, the author used them quite well. They were well placed and provided needed background for the characters and their story in a fluid way. They contributed to creating well rounded characters. I actually ended up liking them in this application.

The story – wow. Again, job well done. There was the constant suspense of the stalker creating havoc around a stressful reunion of lovers. I had to remind myself to keep breathing and it was just a book boyfriend. I couldn’t really bop the dude upside the head, though I sure wanted to a time or two. Thank goodness Mark finally got around to doing it for me.

When the secrets started coming out, OMG! I found some of them rather hard to believe, but this is fiction. It worked for me. When the stalker was revealed, well . . . that was mostly a surprise. I had been wondering, but then I thought, no that would really be too obvious. But the reasons, not so much.

This was a nicely paced suspense story with a lovely romance thrown in. Kind of an interesting, slightly different ending, but a very satisfying one. Most lovers of contemporary romantic suspense with a dash of erotic will love this book. It is all there. Gasps! Sighs. Oh Nos. Look out. You’re kidding? Really? More sighs. I really think you will like this too.

I received a digital copy in exchange for an honest review from Samhain.

I had a few issues with her characters outward personalities because Jennifer made it difficult to understand or sympathize with their actions toward eachother and with themselves. Too many times I felt frustrated in the way they acted or spoke but I still stuck with it because under all of that I wanted to know what happened.
Final Surrender wasn't written poorly at all but I do wish that the author had given us as readers a more indepth and more fulfilling exploration of both Clay and Angela's minds.

Note: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

For some reason this one was really difficult for me to get through. I was so bugged by her nonchalance about her stalker, even after being attacked previously, that it made me not want to finish the book. I trudged through anyway, but it wasn't really worth my time. I just wasn't feeling it, it did nothing for me.

I was sent a copy of the book for review through Net Galley, as always, all opinions are my own.

I really tried to finish this book, but I really didn’t like Angela. I put it down about half way through.
