Sometimes the circumstances of life can feel like the onset of an earthquake, when the ground beneath our feet begins to move and suddenly we are shaken. This 5-lesson Bible study examines the unexpected events that rattled Simon’s world. Although he had strengths and successes, he also struggled with inadequacies and failures. Simon was shaken by distraction. By Jesus’ rebuke. By his failure to prepare. By the power of Christ. But through all of Simon’s seismic shifts, God transformed him into Peter—a stable and consistent “rock.”Offering hope for victory over failure, Simon Peter points you toward God’s unfailing grace and mercy. Discover how you can find stability in God, grow in your faith, and live boldly for the Lord in spite of the “earthquake moments” of life.
Bill Crowder, who spent over twenty years in pastoral ministry, is vice president of ministry content at ODB Ministries. He is a contributor to Our Daily Bread and the author of five books, including The Spotlight on Faith, Singing the Songs of the Brokenhearted, and The Path of His Passion. He and his wife, Marlene, have five children.
Our Daily Bread publishes a wonderful series of devotions by that same name. Bill Crowder is one of the contributing authors to it. In Simon Peter: A Rock Moved By God, Bill Crowder discusses many of the passages in the Bible about Peter.
This little book is filled with discussions about the life of Peter and how Jesus used him. Crowder also reminds us of how unlikely a candidate Peter was to lead anyone, much less an early church.
This book is well-written and well-researched. We give it all five stars and think you will learn a great deal from it.
The only real problem we have with this book is in the discussion questions. The author references himself by saying “Bill Crowder says…” This is confusing and just plain weird.
We got this little booklet free through Our Daily Bread ministries.
