Largo Winch est une série de bande dessinée écrite par Jean Van Hamme et dessinée par Philippe Francq publiée aux éditions Dupuis depuis 1990. Les aventures de Largo sont toujours présentées en dyptique et celui-ci est le dernier qui sera écrit par Van Hamme... et peut-être même la dernière bande dessinée qu'il écrira jamais vu qu'il a déjà arrêté XIII, Rani et Thorgal.
Ce dyptique se passe à Londres où va être organisée le Grand Conseil du groupe W. Tout les personnages réguliers de la série sont présents, même si pour certains ce rôle est anecdotique. En fait, c'est tout ce dyptique qui est anecdotique, si ce n'est pour voir Mrs Pennywinckle et Mr Cochrane, les deux garants de la morale, tomber dans une histoire de chantage pour le moins imprévisible. Largo est tombé amoureux et tout ce qu'il sait dire c'est "je l'aime.... où est-elle.... j'ai pas le temps, faut que je la cherche.... blah blah blah". Le premier tome touche un peu à l'actualité avec les djihadistes et autres manipulations des services secrets mais le deuxième n'offre aucune surprise. Il fait sourire par momemnt, mais l'action est convenue d'avance. Après avoir lu l'interview de Van Hamme disant que ça ne l'amusait plus de travailler avec Francq, je pense qu'il a juste voulu faire l'album, quitte à le bâcler, pour que s'en soit fini. Dommage...
Le dessin est égal à lui-même, avec une mention particulière pour la planche 25 de "20 secondes".
Une note: 6/10. Je devrais dire 7 mais comme c'est le dernier de Van Hamme on était en droit d'en attendre plus.

This is the first time where the story doesn't really end after two books as is the custom for Largo Winch books. ( there is some resolution but not for all the plots)

Blijft toch leuk leesvertier. Het leest deze keer meer als een spannende Hollywood blockbuster:
- minder economisch jargon
- meer actie, spanning en sex.
Ook valt op hoe in de loop van 25 jaar de rol van vrouwen is veranderd in deze stripreeks : van mooie stoeipoezen die zich gewillig op het achterste laten aaien tot sterke vrouwen (soms letterlijk sterk) die zich niet laten gebruiken... (hoewel ik Van Hamme ervan verdenk dat het voor hem een goed excuus is om lesbische sex (= meer vrouwelijk schoon) op de pagina's te krijgen. ;-) )
Het was het laatste tweeluik dat door Van Hamme werd geschreven. Ben benieuwd wat zijn opvolger, Eric Giacometti, doet met de losse eindjes die er op het eind blijven hangen.
Hoewel de cover zeer sober is kan ik je verzekeren dat Philippe Francq, zoals we van hem gewoon zijn, prachtige strippagina's blijft afleveren.

“20 секунд”. Якщо пояснювати назву цього тома, то це заспойлить весь сюжет альбома, а він і без того не дуже бойкий. Його добряче рухає лише ініціативність однієї з героїнь, рівно 1 штука. Все інше - продовження історії інтрижок, поміж яких Ларго та його нова дівчина шукають одне одного, але не знаходять аж до самого фіналу. Намальовано все ще чудово, діалоги прекрасні, є гачок, щоб ознайомитись з наступними частинами історії, але ось ця конкретно - так собі, як на мене, бо аж занадто легко вирішуються проблеми. Ось вам, читачі, кілька нових персонажів, але гратися з ними ми будемо в наступних томах. І то не факт.

Sixteen volumes in and the series has built quite a supporting cast, a tangible world in which the stories take place, and set a rather high bar for quality. This means Van Hamme and Francq have some creative flexibility to play with, and they use it here, placing the titular character almost in the background of his own story and allowing the supporting cast to come to the fore.
Following directly on from the previous volume, and remaining in London (astoundingly illustrated, by the way) Saidee’s unfortunate circumstance of having more than one master have led her to be restrained by a rogue CIA agent. A jihadist group are moving forward with their plan to attack a board meeting of the W Group and all factions have the support of a Russian businessman who is orchestrating events for us own nefarious benefit. Largo has fallen heavily for Saidee and her sudden disappearance has left him distracted and unfocused, so the attention turns to his close associates and friends to drive the story forward and, ultimately, to thwart the plot laid against Largo.
Once again Van Hamme excels at executing a multi-character narrative with several intertwining plot threads, which in turn is mirrored by Francq’s highly detailed and engaging art (with full credit to the colouring team too). There are interesting and daring explorations of global current affairs but they’re approached in a matter that appreciates the situation’s various shades of grey. I’ve said it before that as a premise Largo Winch doesn’t sound as if it should work, but Van Hamme’s gift is to treat Largo’s W Group as the equivalent of a country in an espionage novel and throw all the threats and potential menace at him as if he were the embodiment of ruling dignitary and top spy. This is what keeps the series fresh, relevant and interesting, and should be all the endorsement you need to read it.

Wat jammer dat het niveau van deze twee laatste albums zo omlaag gaat.
Largo Winch was net geloofwaardig genoeg om even weg te dromen, maar het verhaal in deze twee albums is echt wel te ver gezocht met storende goedkope truukjes.
Weg is ook respect voor de figuren die te zeer karikaturen worden van zichzelf. Zo jammer. (Om te zwijgen van het feit dat nu zowat iedereen met iedereen naar bed lijkt te gaan. :-( )
Als je dit album nog niet gekocht heb, doe het niet.
Als je het echt wil lezen, leen het dan in de bib en bespaar je de aankoopprijs.

Decevant au possible. Intrigue vide. Le scenariste s est apparemment dit que l heure etait venue d oublier toutes les qualites de la serie et de les remplacer par du cul. Tout le monde s envoie en l air, et ne fait d ailleurs que ca, a part Largo etrangement.
Dommage.
